Chapter 98
Chapter 98

“She is lying!” Hugo and I countered at the same time.
I stepped forward and showed him the video where Lucy made out with a shifter.
“Lucy's having an affair while she was with you back in Starsmoon. Your wolf knew that she wasn't your mate. There's no way your wolf would allow you to make a baby with her.”
"True. I was kinda part of this baby plan back then." Hugo echoed and then ducked his head in shame.
"Howl!!!!!" The last bit of sanity in Dylan was gone. His wolf was finally taking control after he figured out how Lucy had manipulated and betrayed him, Alpha of Starsmoon!
I gasped, and my wolf took the initiative to distance ourselves from the fuming madness that swallowed Dylan.
His claws sprouted and snatched at Lucy's head, almost ripping her dark green hair off.
“I'll kill you!!! Lord Hills and my pack won't stay at peace unless you're dead!” One claw of Dylan's wolf tightly cupped her jaw, close to crushing her bones.
“Dylan, don't!” I couldn't allow my Alpha to kill an innocent baby, although its mother was crime-ridden.
“L-Listen to your...mate, A-Alpha. I-I'm...p-pregnant!” There was nothing but terror in Lucy's shuddering voice.
"I'm upholding Nuu-Chah's will!" Dylan's wolf purred, its claw dugging deeper on the skin in her jaw.
“Listen, Dylan! Lucy is a vest of evil, but her pup shouldn't be a victim of her deeds." I tried to talk some sense into Dylan. "How about we lock her up before she gives birth? Then you can do whatever you want about her. I promise I won't stand in your way.”
Calming down a little bit from the rage, Dylan was taking back control over his body.
“Here.” Bert offered a handcuff to Dylan.
A sigh of relief came out of me when Dylan finally reached for it.
"I'm proud of you, Alpha." I reached for Dylan's lips after Bert and Jason took Lucy and Hugo to the car.
"Everything is finally back in order." Dylan responded my kiss passionately, wrapping his arm around my waist.

Back in Starsmoon.
"Seriously? You want me to visit her in prison?" I stopped at the doorstep of Dylan's office with a cup of hot chocolate when Dylan was yelling at Bert.
“It's the second time she bleeds, Dylan. She swore that she wouldn't eat anything unless you come to see h—”
“The shifter that she had an affair with, the father of her pup, have you found him?” Bert got interrupted by Dylan. “You should be ransacking the whole Seattle to search for him instead of worrying about Lucy here. That's what you should be doing as my Beta.”
“Leave it to me.” I told Bert via mind link.
"Want a cup of hot choco?" I walked in after Bert left in frustration, raising the cup in my hand at Dylan.
“Thanks.” Slurping his drink carefully, Dylan smiled at me while I just looked at him silently.
"You heard Bert and me just now?" The silence soon bugged him that he kicked his swivel chair away from the table.
“How about leaving Lucy to me?” I walked to Dylan slowly and wiped off the mark of the chocolate drink away from the side of his lips.
"I just don't get it." Dylan sighed in frustration. Anything about Lucy could get on Dylan's nerves.
"You worry about Lucy using her pup against us, right?” I reached out and hugged him, purring and resting my chin in his chest.
“Trust me. I won't get fooled by her. I'm just doing this for the pup. You know Nuu-Chah values every wolf equally. She'd be glad if one of her Alphas is following suit.”
“Fine.” Dylan gave in finally.

In Starsmoon's prison.
“Get up and go with me, Lucy.”
She was lying in bed, facing the wall. Her handcuff rustled as she turned back to face me.
"I can handle it." I glared at the delta that blocked me with his arm as Lucy stood up from her bed and walked towards me.
“Where are you bringing me? Are you gonna banish me behind Dylan's back?” Lucy asked warily, holding the bars in prison tightly.
“I'm here to take you to hospital. Your pup and you will get checked there.” I didn't want to waste any word on her.
Taking my order, the delta dragged Lucy out of the prison rudely and thrust her into the car.
She was restless in the seat along the way, which I took as a bout of the jitters caused by her fear and mistrust in me.
“What's wrong with you?” Sick of her squirmming non-stop, I couldn't help but ask.
“I need to pee.”
“We'll soon arrive at the hospital.”
“I don't think I can make it." Lucy whined a few minutes later, as the delta stopped at a gas station for refueling. "Can I just pee here?”
I ignored her at first, knowing that she was having little tricks on her mind.
But then I recalled I had to pee every few minutes when I was pregnant with Fern and Oliver.
After struggling for a few seconds, I finally decided to allow her.
“Lucy, aren't you done yet? It's been two minutes!” I banged the door, but got nothing from inside!!
My heart skipped a beat. She had been responding to me earlier!
I mind linked the delta over, who forced open the door in haste. And the first thing we saw was a small window widely open.
“Shit! Chase her! She must be just around here!!” I commanded the delta and then mind linked Dylan.
“Yes, mate?”
“I'm sorry, Dylan. But..s-she escaped...” My voice trailed off in guilt.
“Lucy escaped?! H-How?! How did she escape from you and the delta?” Dylan asked in disbelief.
Just as I was about to get started with my explanation, a distinct scent of a Starsmoon Epsilon whipped through my nose.
My eyes darted to a pickup truck parked on the roadside. As if realizing something, I sprinted towards it.
Wearing his hood up, the driver had a pair of sunglasses that hid the upper part of his face.
“Who are you? Why are you here?!” I barked at him.
Instead of answering my questions, the Epsilon threw a subtle stare at the trunk of the pickup.
“Lucy! He's hiding Lucy in the trunk. He knew you'd be there. This is a well-planned escape!" My wolf screamed at me.
“As the Luna of Starsmoon, I command you to open up your trunk.” Standing in front of the pickup, I shouted sternly.
Instead of following my order, the Epsilon simply turned on the engine and stepped on the break, driving straight towards my body. Curses escaped from his lips.
Shocked by his malice, I was forced out of his way by instinct.
Within the blink of an eye, the truck disappeared into the distance.
