Chapter 81
Chapter 81
Cherry
A week later at the hospital.
I opened my eyes when slow, heavy footsteps sounded in my ward, only to find the poker face of the chief officer.
"Do you have to act in such a rush? Didn't the nurse tell you that I won't get discharged until late this afternoon?!" I spat at the thought of what had happened to me back in prison.
“I'm not bringing you back to prison. Alpha Dylan dropped the charges against you.” She informed me coldly, tossing me my belongings.
“He did?” I asked, totally surprised, “But why? I-I...mean what happened?”
“Do I look like I have all the answers to your questions?” With that, the officer left.
“Do you think Dylan finally got his memory back?" I asked my wolf with great expectations. "It could be, right? First he saved me from those thugs in prison, and now this?!”
My feet took me out of the ward before I even knew it. I must go back to Lord Hills right now!
“Taxi! Taxi!” I shouted at the top of my lungs, stomping my feet in annoyance as they all drove past me.
“Thank Nuu-Chah!” I mumbled as a cab finally stopped. “To Lord Hills, please.”
Bursting with impatience to see Dylan, I got pissed off when the taxi stopped at a red light.
My eyes drifted to the window out of boredom, when a familiar figure attracted my attention.
“Chelsea?” I moved closer to the window and got the answer at the sight of the rare DARK GREEN HAIR!
Her arm was encircling the nape of a man, a man not Dylan! The man was even cupping her butt!
“What a two-faced bitch! How dare she!" Outrageous, I took out my phone to take pictures and videos of them making out.
“It's time to take revenge,” I whispered to myself.
“Could you drive any faster, sir? I‘m kinda in a hurry.”
*********
“Cherry my kid! You're finally back.” Heather took me into her arms after I got out of the taxi. She was waiting for me at the curb with Chris.
“How is Dylan? Is he getting memory back?" Pulling away from Heather, I asked them expectantly, only to notice the subtle changes in their looks.
"Not really." Chris finally started after a dreadful silence. "But Heather and I talked Dylan into accepting Atty. Felicity's proposal."
"Oh, but how come he went to the priso..." I stopped, realizing that I had been way too optimisitc. "Never mind. I'll just go and see Fern. She must have been giving Maisy a hard time these days."
Yet my footsteps got stopped by Chris.
“There's one more thing you need to know, kid.” He put on a graver look.
“Hmm?” My eyebrow shot up and my forehead knotted. “What's it?”
“Fern is living with Dylan and Chelsea at the pack house now. Dylan ran into her the other day when Maisy took her to visit Bert.” Chris said while looking at me nervously. "Sorry I couldn't do anything about it. Dylan rules over me as Alpha..."
"What?!! No way!"
The next minute, I found my feet sprinting towards the pack house.
Bursting the door open, I saw Dylan sitting behind his office desk.
“Where is Fern?! I'm taking my daughter back!” I said firmly, only to earn a smirk from Dylan.
He charged forward, forcing me to a step back. With just an inch gap between our faces, his scent tempted me to kiss him.
“Cherry…" Dylan called my name in a low voice, as if got lost in my scent too. Then something changed in his eyes.
“What was that?” He distanced himself from me, not believing the fated bond aroused between us.
“So you felt that, huh?” I mocked him. “It's your wolf feeling a connection with mine! How can you not know?!”
"Connection?! Oh stop it! Stop dreaming, Cherry!" Dylan spat. "I think I'll have to make the decision today!"
My eyes widened, as my wolf warned me of what he'd do next.
“I am stripping you of your right as the Luna of my pack.” He said through gritted teeth.
“No!!! Dylan, you can't do that to me!” I couldn't believe my ears.
“Of course I can! And this is the only mercy I have for you!" Hatred surfaced in his eyes. "Did you really think I'd just let your crime slide by dropping the charges?!”
Astounded in huge pain, I wasn't quite able to catch up on his words.
"Never. I'd never let it go! I freed you out of prison simply because you're the mother of my daughter! And this is also the reason why I chose to strip your right as Luna, instead of banishing you from this pack!" Dylan continued, dousing the last hope in me.
Despair rooted me to the ground. I just looked into his eyes, finding this man I used to love with all my life so unfamiliar.
“I, Dylan, Alpha of the Starsmoon Pack, dismiss Cherry as the Luna of Starsmoon Pack,” he said, without even batting an eye.
What Dylan did took a toll on my strength. Yet I forced myself to stand on my feet.
"Enough! It's time to fight back, Cherry!" My wolf whispered to me.
“Dylan, this is the last time you'll be able to hurt me. I'm done with this pathetic life.” I said with extreme calmness, panting from the sharp pain deep inside.
"But don't get fooled by your new Luna-to-be, for the sake of Starsmoon." With that, I left his office and called my daughter's name. "Fern? Fern! Where are you? It's mommy! Come out and give me a hug!"
Yet I didn't get any response or see Fern's figure after seeking through the pack house.
A nasty feeling rose in me...
