Chapter 129
Chapter 129
Giovanni's Perspective
When Beta Tobias reported that Aurora had gone to find Fern, a twinge of worry for Fern actually crossed my mind.
Damn, there must be something wrong about me.
But when I got to Fern's room, guess what I heard instead?
"I wouldn't want someone who wants another person anyway!"
At that moment, my anger was palpable. I gave Fern a cold look, unable to express what I felt inside.
"What are you doing here?" I asked in a suppressed, low voice, almost a growl.
Aurora quickly walked up to me. "Giovanni, why is she in the Luna Suite?"
My eyes remained fixed on Fern, who was looking up at me as if she hadn't just spoken those words.
I clenched my teeth and restrained myself. "Aurora... Get out, go to your room. Beta Tobias, go with her. I'll be right there."
Aurora stared at me before she snarled and stormed out of the room.
When everyone had left, I turned my gaze to Fern. "What did you mean by what you said?" I tried to control my anger and speak calmly.
"It means exactly what I said, Giovanni," Fern replied indifferently, meeting my gaze.
Her stubborn gaze ignited a fire within me, making me desire her intensely. She was tantalizing, there was no denying that. Her soft, unblemished skin, the smooth curves of her body, and the way she surrounded me as if she were made for me...
I shook my head, trying to clear my thoughts. She was merely a tool of my revenge, nothing more, even if it felt good to be with her.
I took a step toward her, but before I could approach her further, Fern's cold voice rang out again, "Aren't you going?"
"Going where?" I asked.
"To your girlfriend, Aurora. She seems angry. Aren't you going to explain?"
Fern was right; I should probably go to Aurora at this point rather than waste my time with Fern.
"Fine! Great!" I looked at Fern coldly. She returned my gaze, then turned and closed the door.
As I walked through the garden and down the long hallway, anger still clouded my mind.
How dare Fern shut the door in my face and turn me away.
Suddenly, thoughts of Aurora flooded my mind, and I stopped, taking a deep breath.
Fern was right; I shouldn't waste my time on her, merely a tool for revenge.
With that thought, I lifted my feet and continued on my way to Aurora's place.
Before long, I reached Aurora's doorstep, noticing her conversing with a man in the distance. Though too far to discern his features, their interaction appeared somewhat intimate.
"Aurora!" I called out as I approached.
The man promptly bid Aurora farewell and departed. Entering, I confronted Aurora with a furrowed brow. "Who was that, Aurora?"
Her response was immediate, her tone chilly. "Are you doubting me, Alpha, or must I remind you of the woman still residing in Luna Suite?"
Momentarily at a loss for words, I stammered, "I'm sorry, Aurora. I just—"
"He's my brother," she interjected.
Her words deepened my embarrassment. Stepping forward, I embraced Aurora, my tone earnest. "Aurora, I'm sorry for neglecting you. Please allow me to make amends. I've already booked a restaurant for us tomorrow. Let's spend the day together, okay?"
Her relief palpable, Aurora responded softly, "Okay."
The following afternoon, our rendezvous took place in a bustling café. Soft lighting bathed our table as gentle music filled the air.
While Aurora spoke animatedly about her recent endeavors, my mind wandered, fixating on Fern.
What was she doing at this moment?
The unsettling thought suggested something awry within me.
"Did you hear that?" Aurora's voice snapped me from my reverie, her eyes expectant.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I was lost in thought," I managed, forcing a smile. "What were you saying?"
Though her smile faltered briefly, Aurora patiently repeated her words. Despite my efforts to focus, my mind stubbornly drifted back to Fern's visage—her bright eyes and warm smile.
After dinner, Aurora said to me with great anticipation, "Let's go for another walk. I know a park nearby with a great view."
I hesitated for a moment, then apologetically replied, "I'm afraid I can't. I have some things to take care of tonight. Next time, okay?"
Disappointment flickered in Aurora's eyes, but she still nodded and smiled. "Okay, take care on your way then."
Leaving the café, I walked down the silent streets with mixed emotions. I knew I was being unfair to Aurora, but something prevented me from focusing on what lay ahead.
Just then, a familiar song reached my ears. It was Fern's song, gentle and moving, as if it carried some kind of magic that drew me towards the moonlit forest. I followed the song and stepped into the depths of the forest.
The moonlight poured through the treetops, guiding my way.
After walking for some time, I found Fern sitting on the lawn with a group of lovely children. The children surrounded her with happy smiles, while Fern, like an angel, gently cared for each child.
In a trance, I remembered Fern from my own childhood. She was also gentle and beautiful, like a little angel, and back then, she belonged to me alone.
"She looked like a natural Luna, always so delightful, and the pack loved to be close to her," Beta Tobias whispered as he joined me at some point.
It was bold of him to speak to me in such a manner, but I wondered why he would say such a thing out of the blue.
"So what about you? Are you attracted to her too, Tobias?" I asked coldly.
Tobias looked up at me suspiciously. "Really, Giovanni? You know she's my charge, that's all. Why would you think that?"
He called me by my first name. Now he was speaking as my friend, not just as my Beta. No doubt my words had taken him by surprise because he stood there, mouth half-open.
I relaxed slightly as I waited for his answer. Granted, I've known Tobias since we were boys, but I'm still the Alpha, and I don't tolerate being questioned.
Tobias glanced at me for a moment, then chuckled softly. "No, Giovanni. I'm just suggesting it as a potential solution to the problem." His laughter had a bitter edge, and he shook his head while looking at me.
"But you... Are you feeling jealous now when she's caught the eye of another man?" He regarded me with curiosity.
"Tobias, I'm the one asking the questions," I replied, my expression conveying that I didn't find his comment amusing.
"I was simply wondering... Why do you care so much about an Omega?" When I remained silent, he pressed on. "Giovanni, Fern is a good girl..."
I understood his intentions now - he wanted me to let her go and end this charade.
No wonder he made such foolish remarks today.
"Beta Tobias, focus on your duties," I instructed firmly, leaving no room for argument.
I didn't require anyone to remind me of Fern's virtues; as her brother who grew up alongside her after being adopted by her parents, no one understood her better than I did. But regardless, it was irrelevant.
"Yes, Alpha," Tobias sighed, indicating his comprehension of my directive.
