Getting away with the Alpha's Pup

Chapter 122

Chapter 122

Fern's Perspective

"Arthur, take her down!" After I finished speaking, Giovanni gave me a cold look before turning to Arthur and commanded with a dismissive tone.

"Yes, Alpha, but where should I take her? The Luna Suite?" Arthur asked humbly, his head bowed, glancing at me briefly.

"The Luna Suite? Have you forgotten what I said?" Giovanni's voice was filled with anger as he glared at Arthur. "I said she was just the newest lowly omega of my pack."

Feeling Giovanni's wrath, Arthur bent lower. "Yes, sorry, I understand, Alpha."

"Take her to the basement, where she belongs, doesn't she?" Giovanni's tone became icy as he instructed Arthur. He then turned to me, his gaze obscure. "So, let's see how far you can go as the Alpha's daughter."

With those words, Giovanni quickly departed. I stood there in silence, watching his retreating figure.

"How dare he make us live in a place like that, the damn devil!" my wolf howled angrily.

I forced a bitter smile.

That night, under the faint glow of an oil lamp and a silver moon high in the sky, I sat down. My feathered quill glided gently across the parchment, my strokes slow and firm, as I tried to translate my thoughts and comfort into words for my parents far away in the Starsmoon Pack.

"Dear Father and Mother,

Greetings to you both! All is well with me here, please don't worry. Although I am in a foreign land, I am well taken care of, and every day is full and meaningful. I hope all is well with you and that you do not miss me.

Your daughter, Fern."

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, holding back the tears.

I hated myself beyond measure for my stupidity in believing Giovanni's lies and being taken back to the Dark Howl Pack by him.

As the daughter of an Alpha, I understood the decisions my parents had made for the pack. As the Alpha and Luna, my parents had much more important responsibilities. They loved our pack as deeply as I did, so when I realized that I would have to pay for my naivety, I knew it was something I had to deal with on my own.

The only thing I could do in my current situation was to ensure my parents didn't worry about me or make any impulsive decisions against the pack because of their concern for me.

I folded the letter and sealed it with wax. I knew this letter had to reach my parents as soon as possible, but finding someone trustworthy in this castle full of Giovanni's men wasn't easy. After some thought, I decided to turn to Arthur, the guard. He was the only person Giovanni had left to watch over me, and the only one I had access to.

I could see in Arthur's eyes that he was a good and kind man. The next day, I found Arthur and handed him the letter, carefully pleading, "Arthur, would you please help me find a way to mail this letter? I know it's risky for you, but I'm really worried about them."

"But..." Arthur hesitated.

"Don't worry, I don't intend to cause any trouble. It's just a simple greeting letter. It won't cause any trouble for you. I just don't want my parents to worry about me," I continued.

Arthur looked at me and eventually nodded. "Don't worry, Ms. Fern, I'll do my best to deliver the letter."

I smiled gratefully. "Thank you, Arthur. You're a good man."

However, things didn't go as I had hoped. As night fell, a knock on the door came out of nowhere.

"Alpha wants to see you," a delta said at the door.

It wasn't Arthur's voice. What did Giovanni want with me all of a sudden? And why?

I thought uneasily as I followed the delta. Upon reaching the inside of the castle, I smelled a faint scent of blood, and an eerie silence hung over the place.

"Something's not quite right," my wolf cautiously warned. I could feel her spirit tightening.

The delta quickly led me to Giovanni's office and knocked on the door.

"Come in!" came Giovanni's usual cold voice.

The door was quickly opened from the inside by Beta Tobias. The moment I met his eyes, I saw pity in them.

What the hell?

The next second, I was pushed into Giovanni's office. A much stronger smell of blood greeted me, and the door was slammed shut hard behind me.

I looked up and saw a werewolf on his knees, his back covered in whip marks. Almost immediately, I recognized the weak shifter as Arthur.

"What are you doing?" Anger washed over me, and I rushed to Giovanni, confronting him loudly.

"As you can see, I'm just punishing a werewolf for betraying his Alpha!" Giovanni raised his hand, holding the letter I had given Arthur to send this morning. "I can't believe I didn't know you were charming enough to get my people to serve you, Fern."

"It was just a letter, one that didn't threaten you in any way! And Arthur, he was only trying to help me—"

"Arthur?" Giovanni interrupted with a sudden outburst, his eyes filled with an anger I couldn't comprehend. "I wonder since when you became so well acquainted?"

Seeing Giovanni on the verge of losing control, I hurried to him and implored him to release Arthur. "It's my fault entirely. I'm the one who tasked him with delivering the letter."

Giovanni sneered, a hint of mockery in his gaze. "Oh, is that so? Then, tell me, what do you propose I do with him?"

Shaking my head fervently, I pleaded, "Please don't harm him. He's innocent."

"Innocent?" Giovanni took a step closer, his gaze piercing. "And what about you? Do you comprehend the severity of facilitating a clandestine message?"

I recoiled, his presence intimidating. "I acknowledge my wrongdoing. Please, release Arthur. I'm prepared to accept any consequences."

Giovanni smirked, a cruel glimmer in his eyes. "Any consequences? Well then, let's see how far you're willing to go for him."

He yanked me forcefully to his side and murmured, "If you can satisfy me, perhaps I'll entertain sparing his life."
