Chapter 754 - 748: It’s Not That I Don’t Care (Two - s Combined) (2)

"Hey, if you don’t miss me, I’m heartbroken." Lu Shouyue pretended to be upset and said aloud.

Lin Wanwan suppressed her laughter and looked up to ask him, "Have you eaten dinner?"

Lu Shouyue laughed and bit her earlobe, "You are my dinner!"

Lin Wanwan quickly leaned back to avoid him, "I’m being serious!"

Lu Shouyue chased after her relentlessly, "I’m being serious too."

After goofing around for a while, they finally separated from their conjoined state.

Lu Shouyue had a makeshift dinner in his car. He came over now partly because he missed Lin Wanwan, and partly to discuss the engagement reception arrangements with her.

They went together to the tea room in the attic on the third floor and brewed tea under the starlight.

When it came to discussing the venue for the wedding, Lin Wanwan hesitated and didn’t respond immediately.

After a moment, she suddenly seemed to make up her mind, interrupting Lu Shouyue’s enthusiastic talk about the engagement reception with a serious expression, "I have something I want to tell you."

Lu Shouyue’s smile froze for a moment, a bad feeling already brewing in his heart, "What do you want to say?"

Lin Wanwan took a silent breath, looking at Lu Shouyue, she said, "Mr. Lu, I... I don’t really want to have an engagement reception. Our relationship is something between the two of us; I feel like there’s no need to hold such a grand party, invite so many people for a meal, and tell so many people about our relationship."

Lu Shouyue put away his smile and just stared at Lin Wanwan with a blank expression.

Lin Wanwan lowered her eyes, avoiding eye contact with him, "Mr. Lu, I’ve never been confident or proactive about relationships; I honestly don’t know what to do.

But I think we’ve only been dating for half a year; isn’t it a bit too soon to talk about marriage? What you want, I may not be able to give you yet, I... I don’t want to get engaged..."

"Wanwan, I know! You don’t have to say it, I know!" Lu Shouyue suddenly interrupted Lin Wanwan, his eyes instantly filled with a kaleidoscope of emotions.

Lin Wanwan looked up, seeing his distressed expression, her heart inexplicably tightened.

He gazed at her, infinite sorrow welling up in his eyes, crossed the tea table, sat beside her, and held her in his arms, burying his head on her slender shoulder, his voice desolate, "I know, you just want to date me, not take part in my future. But Wanwan, I won’t let go, not in this lifetime."

He tightened his embrace, speaking in a tone that almost threatened to break her slight waist, "You promised me, you can’t go back on it, you’re mine for life, you can’t escape."

It was as if he were speaking to Lin Wanwan, and also telling himself.

Lin Wanwan was stunned for a moment, then wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing her face against his chest, "I’m not going to leave, I... I like you, maybe not as much as you like me, but I really like you."

Lu Shouyue loosened his embrace a little, cupping her face to see her better.

He looked down into the depths of her eyes, gazing at her intently, trying to discern from her eyes into her heart, to judge how sincere her words of liking him were.

He couldn’t understand, he really couldn’t.

He could see through everything else, but emotions he couldn’t grasp or penetrate.

He was entirely at her mercy, his love becoming the whip in her hands, with which she could torture him as she wished, and he was utterly helpless.

Heaven and hell were just a thought away from her, and he had no power to resist.

Looking into her pitch-black eyes, Lu Shouyue couldn’t help but lean in to kiss her, their warm breaths intertwining between their lips and teeth.

Lin Wanwan surrendered without struggle, even responding to him passionately, every nerve feeling the thrill, letting his hands wander over her body, perhaps with some fear of him leaving hidden deep inside, trying to please him.

She wasn’t indifferent; she just didn’t know what to do.

His lips traveled along her slender neck to the buttons on her shirt, pausing for a moment before suddenly increasing the intensity, infecting her with his fervor.

Lin Wanwan felt dizzy, a surge of heat sweeping through her limbs, almost unable to sit steadily, relying on Lu Shouyue’s support.

Lu Shouyue understood clearly that Lin Wanwan was tacitly allowing him to get closer.

He pushed her down on the soft wool carpet, her body slightly stiff, her eyelashes quivering like butterfly wings, but beyond that, no resistance, he could do as he pleased.
