Chapter 181 - 179: Wow, What a Great Show
"Mivana, a Ranger Knight from the Country of Yonglan. She was a key player in the reclamation war and helped us out a great deal. You... oh, right. I don’t think you two have met."
As Westheid introduced Mivana to Reiya, he suddenly recalled that these two Tier T0 Talent holders, the ones he cared about most, had apparently never spoken to each other. Their only encounter had been a one-sided one, when Mivana saw Reiya in the Secret Realm.
Reiya said, "Yes, I’d only heard of her before. I suppose today is our official introduction."
"Hello."
The Lady Knight leaning against a gallery pillar brushed aside her dark violet hair. She straightened up and proactively extended a hand to the Silver-haired Princess.
Her attitude toward Reiya was quite friendly. Mivana wasn’t the jealous type by nature. Both her Beastman instincts and the Knight’s education she’d received since childhood made her feel it was perfectly normal for Westheid to have multiple partners.
’Besides, anyone who could become Westheid’s lover must be a good person!’
Reiya silently reached out and returned the handshake but said nothing. Her delicate nose twitched slightly as she stared at Mivana’s handsome yet beautiful face for a long time before lowering her gaze.
Westheid glanced over and could clearly sense that Reiya’s gaze had sharpened considerably. She was scrutinizing the other woman from head to toe.
Mivana tilted her head. "Is something wrong?"
"Have you... slept with West?"
"Mhm, we’ve had our training sessions."
The Wolf-eared Maiden was frank about her desires. Whether in the Imperial country or the Country of Yonglan, such things weren’t shameful, but people weren’t usually as... blunt as Mivana.
Reiya continued to lock eyes with Mivana, her gaze from her magnificent Cang Tong eyes like a physical, sharpened blade.
One of Mivana’s beast ears drooped a little, a hint of grievance in her voice as she said:
"It’s not just me. All the others have, too."
Although she didn’t consider herself inferior to Reiya, the Lady Knight had a basic understanding of "first come, first served," so she offered an explanation.
’That explanation just made it worse!’
Reiya said coolly, her brow furrowed, "You’re different from them, but... how exactly are you different?"
Mivana: "Are you just trying to pick a fight?"
Seeing Reiya seemingly determined to clash with Mivana, Westheid broke out in a cold sweat.
’The Silver-haired Princess let all the others off so easily. Why is she latching onto Mivana and not letting go?’
"Reiya, actually..."
As the atmosphere grew increasingly tense, Westheid tried to step in and mediate.
But the moment he spoke, Reiya turned to look at him. A sudden realization dawned on her, and her brow smoothed out.
"I see. West... you love her."
"Huh?"
Westheid was caught off guard by Reiya’s sudden change of topic.
Reiya’s gaze shifted back and forth between Westheid and Mivana.
"Yes, that’s it. Unlike the others, this one is special to West, isn’t she? Just like me."
Westheid: "..."
’Wait, how did you figure that out? Was I that obvious?’
Just as Reiya said, Westheid weighed the importance of everyone in his heart on a scale. The two Powerhouses who could share their Tier T0 Talents with him were the ones he cared about most.
To say he "loved" them was an understatement. The more accurate emotions were adoration, passion, and worship!
"Is that right, West?"
Reiya’s magnificent eyes stared directly at Westheid, backing him into a corner.
"Gulp..."
Westheid was mortified. He knew he’d have to face this question one day, but he never expected it to be so soon!
’Shouldn’t the normal script be that Reiya considers herself the only special one and pays no mind to the others? Just like she was a moment ago. How did she see right to the heart of the matter with just one look at Mivana?’
’Reiya’s intuition is way too sharp. It’s completely blocked off any room for me to maneuver.’
Lying was out of the question. Hiding the truth by omission was one thing, but active deception would make the situation much worse.
Besides, he had long since resolved himself with the thought, ’It’s fine, I’ll guide them both equally.’
So, Westheid could only nod and say:
"Yes, I love Mivana."
Hearing Teacher West admit he loved her, a strange joy welled up in Mivana’s chest, and the tail behind her began to wag unconsciously.
"Just as I thought."
Reiya raised an eyebrow, not with anger, but with a renewed focus on Mivana.
"A look of love can’t be hidden. So she’s special, too."
The Silver-haired Dragon Lady’s tone was tinged with disappointment.
She didn’t care about Westheid’s other lovers, because Reiya believed those were just transactional relationships her partner had to engage in for mutual benefit.
That was why when she met the others just now, Reiya had observed them closely. She could tell West’s feelings for those allies weren’t born of pure love, so she felt completely unbothered, even a little amused.
Love was the key. Without it, a union based on mutual gain was just sordid. As long as the feelings West held for her were unique, nothing else mattered.
But Mivana’s appearance had unsettled the Silver-haired Princess.
The way Westheid looked at this Ranger Knight was clearly different. It was the same way West looked at *her*!
’Damn it! That look is supposed to be mine!’
After the initial disappointment, Reiya began to look at Mivana with a peculiar gaze.
Mivana: "Her Highness Reiya, are you blaming me?"
Reiya smiled. "I never said that. I was just reminded of something that makes me happy."
"What’s that?"
"Even love has its levels. I am the lover West has personally acknowledged. And you are?"
’Critical hit! True damage!’
"Ngh..."
Although the Lady Knight saw herself as an Apprentice and a comrade-in-arms, as the saying goes, you can lie to your friends, but you can’t lie to yourself.
She called him "Teacher" with her lips, but only the Wolf-eared Maiden herself knew how she truly saw Westheid in her heart.
Mivana felt the sting of the attack. She glared at Reiya with fiery eyes and retorted:
"The Teacher and I have shared each other’s flesh and blood. West is the blood of my blood. That is a bond far more intimate than any romance."
The Princess, of course, refused to be outdone and shot back:
"A Beastman ritual? How barbaric. That’s just your one-sided interpretation, isn’t it? To West, it was probably just a way to get stronger."
"..."
A silent and terrifying tension crackled between the Silver-haired Dragon Lady and the Wolf-eared Maiden, like a needle against a wheat awn. The temperature around them plummeted, and no one dared to approach.
At her core, the Silver-haired Princess was an extremely self-centered person.
If she didn’t truly care about something, she was completely indifferent to others, let alone bothering to praise or mock them.
Mivana was the same. A Lady Knight with such high moral standards would almost never argue with anyone.
The fact that these two were quarreling meant they were both taking this very seriously.
Westheid felt like he was sitting on pins and needles. Yolanda actually shivered, shaking her head and muttering:
"Wow, what a drama. Good thing I’m not part of it, or I’d be in for a world of hurt."
