Chapter 165 - 163: Reversed Celestial Spirit

Chapter 165 - 163: Reversed Celestial Spirit

"!!!"

The moment Westheid finished speaking, it wasn’t just the Pure Holy Spirit who was stunned. Even Yolanda, who thought she knew her brother well, froze in shock. After a long moment, she mechanically turned her head like a wind-up doll to stare at the black-haired, purple-eyed man in disbelief.

"I’ll say it again. My goal is to achieve Ascension to the Supreme Heaven and become a supreme being, on par with the other Celestial Gods."

Westheid said calmly, "I’m not hiding that from you."

"Brother, you really are..."

Yolanda knew Westheid was ambitious, but she had assumed he merely wanted to help their Holy Spirit Ancestor ascend to godhood. She never imagined he was planning his own Great Enterprise of Ascension.

’That’s more than a little audacious.’

"You can’t tell anyone about this..."

"Of course not. I know better," Westheid replied immediately. In the Realm of Order, if there was any topic more taboo than Demons, it was the matter of Ascension.

Anyone suspected of harboring ambitions for godhood would be hunted down and suppressed.

This wasn’t because the Celestial Gods were narrow-minded. In fact, these great beings didn’t mind having successors. On the contrary, the more of their kind, the better, as it would provide a greater advantage in the grand struggle against Chaos.

The problem, however, lay in the Mortal World.

The existence of the Celestial Gods was common knowledge. Everyone knew they had Ascended from mortal origins.

Naturally, aside from pious believers, there was no shortage of ambitious individuals who sought to replicate the miracle of Ascension. They would stop at nothing to attain godhood.

These fanatics, operating outside the system established by the Celestial Gods, were a destabilizing element in the Mortal World. Some incited rebellions and carved out their own territories, while others dabbled in forbidden experiments, leaving endless disaster in their wake.

And the chaos didn’t end there. Some who were not at all ready for the Great Enterprise of godhood would attempt to force their Ascension. In the end, they would perish, their clans would be annihilated, and their very bodies would dissolve into nothing. The impurities left behind would then become breeding grounds for Demons.

The activities of these ambitious individuals threw the Mortal World into turmoil. The Realm of Order utterly detested these would-be Ascenders and implemented a strict, zero-tolerance policy against them.

Meanwhile, the fanatical followers of the Divine Ancestors found a convenient excuse. Unwilling to tolerate anyone who might become an equal to the Celestial Gods, they cracked down hard on any heretic who "harbored presumptuous ambitions."

Thanks to the meticulous efforts of those who came before, no one dared to publicly declare their ambition for Ascension anymore. To do so was tantamount to social suicide.

Here, however, he could speak freely. Within the Qinghui Holy Land, he was surrounded by his ancestor and a trusted confidante—both bound to him by blood—who were capable of tolerating his wild and audacious ideas.

But tolerance was one thing; approval was another entirely.

Yolanda said drily,

"I suppose it’s admirable that you’ve kept such a childlike heart, Brother. At least you dare to dream big. You certainly have a rich imagination."

Westheid sighed and said,

"That’s a bit of a double standard, Sister. You support our ancestor’s bid for godhood, but not mine?"

Yolanda didn’t mince words. "Because our ancestor is a Holy Spirit, and you, Brother, are just a mortal."

"What’s wrong with being mortal? Are you discriminating against mortals? When will we mortals finally get to rise up?"

Westheid’s eyebrow shot up, and he said with a serious expression,

"Don’t forget, the Yonglan Riding God was also a mortal who achieved godhood. What has been will be again; what has been done will be done again."

"..."

’Seriously? Who does he think he is, comparing himself to the Yonglan Riding God?’

Yolanda didn’t deny that the Patriarch was exceptional, but he wasn’t yet at a world-shaking level. She felt compelled to remind him,

"In the long history of the Mortal World, there has only been one Yonglan Riding God who rose from a mortal with nothing to achieve godhood step by step."

"Then I’ll just have to be the second," Westheid said, full of confidence.

Yolanda always approached things from an extremely realistic angle, which, in his opinion, made her a rather uninteresting woman.

As the Patriarch, he didn’t need his silly sister’s approval. The one who could provide the powerful support he needed for his Ascension was the Pure Holy Spirit.

"West... you want to Ascend and become a god?"

The Pure Holy Spirit’s eyes went wide. She glanced at Westheid, then her gaze darted away as she asked hesitantly,

"Won’t that make the Supreme Yang angry?"

"If that’s what you’re worried about, you don’t have to be," Westheid answered.

"This world belongs to the Celestial Gods, and it belongs to mortals, but ultimately, it belongs to mortals. The Mortal World has relied on the Celestial Gods for far too long. In the era to come, however, there will be no Divine Ancestor to protect it."

"Hm? Brother, what was that you said?"

Yolanda keenly picked up on that point and asked.

Westheid ignored his sister. Instead, he met the white-haired Pure Holy Spirit’s gaze and said calmly,

"Do you want to live?"

"Huh?"

The Pure Holy Spirit’s delicate, pointed ears twitched, as if she didn’t understand why Westheid was asking such a question.

Her answer, however, was clear. The Pure Holy Spirit nodded her head vigorously.

"I do. I really, really do."

After being besieged by the Chaos Army for two years, she’d had a true brush with death. The Pure Holy Spirit now understood one thing with perfect clarity.

’I’m afraid of dying. Terrified.’

She wanted to stay in the dreamlike garden she had created forever.

"You’ve contended with Chaos for so long, you must know that the Chaos Tides come one after another, each stronger than the last. Now that the Oath is void, we can no longer count on the Radiant Holy Tree. If we don’t become stronger, the only fate awaiting the Qinghui Territory is annihilation."

"The only way to avoid that future is to take shelter under the protection of a Powerhouse... Do you want to be the Powerhouse who fights back against Chaos?"

The Pure Holy Spirit’s face went pale with fright, and she shook her head again and again.

"No, no, I can’t do it!"

Westheid coaxed her gently,

"That’s right, you can’t. So let me be that Powerhouse for you. All you have to do is listen to me. You won’t have to think about anything else. You can stay in your own little world and live out eternity, free from all worry."

At this moment, his unworthy ancestor’s weak and indecisive personality became an advantage. She looked at Westheid with tears in her eyes.

"Can it really be like that?"

Westheid embraced the white-haired girl, pressing his cheek against the Pure Holy Spirit’s as he said,

"Yes. I promise you will never be harmed. You can depend on me for everything. I will never abandon you."

The Pure Holy Spirit immediately nuzzled against him and said hurriedly, "I... I understand. I’ll listen to West... I’ll do whatever West says."

Yolanda: "..."

The platinum-blonde girl watched as Westheid seized absolute control with just a few sentences. ’This is completely different from the audience I’d imagined,’ she thought. She had expected something far more conventional, not this... Reversed Celestial Spirit.

’But what the hell,’ she mused. ’Isn’t this a good thing, too?’

"Then first, grant me your blessing. I intend to advance to the Hero Tier right here."

Westheid said, gently setting down the Pure Holy Spirit he had been holding.

"A blessing?"

Westheid said, "Bless me just as you blessed the very first member of the Qinghui Clan."

Advancing in Tier required personal training, accumulation of power, and sufficient merit. As for the first two, thanks to the Dragon Soul Furnace, he had already absorbed more than enough power from vast numbers of Chaos Demons, saving him years of effort.

As for merit, retaking the Qinghui Territory would have been more than enough to advance to the Hero Tier. Unfortunately, the territory was not yet fully liberated; the Chaos Army remained entrenched in its lands.

Therefore, Westheid had only accomplished the feats of "retaking the Purity Forest" and "rescuing the Holy Spirit Ancestor." He was still just short of the merit required for advancement. Getting stuck at this stage would be incredibly frustrating.

However, if the Pure Holy Spirit were to grant Westheid her highest blessing, it would fulfill the condition of "being favored by a Holy Spirit." This would perfectly make up for that small deficit of merit, allowing Westheid to step into the Hero Tier and become a true High-tier Transcendent.
