Chapter 207: Echoes Of The Apocalypse
Chapter 207: Echoes Of The Apocalypse
Mirabella stepped out of the crossing zone, the lethal ambient arrays remaining entirely dormant in her presence. She walked towards the statue, completely ignoring everyone’s stunned expressions.
"Let’s get back to Business!!" She snapped, drawing their attention back to their objective. Her tone sliced through the shock, an anchor of pragmatic leadership in the face of the impossible.
"Who can make clones here?" David asked, moving his gaze all over the place. As a Rune Master, his analytical mind was already dissecting the layered defenses of the cavern, calculating the terrifying variables of the Blood Angel’s pedestal.
Everyone looked at him in confusion.
"I need the clone to test if there is any defense mechanism if we touch the statue." He explained, and finally, they all nodded in understanding. Using a spirit energy-construct as a disposable scout to trigger a Lv500 death-trap was basic, necessary dungeon logic.
"I wanted to stay out of this, but anyway." Hitachi placed his hand on his forehead, as his celestial eyes started spinning. The complex ocular bloodline activated, warping the ambient energy, and the next moment, a perfect clone appeared at the other side, standing before Mirabella.
"From now onwards, it’s up to you guys." He said, and started walking to the tunnel Mirabella pointed, not bothered about the swords. His aristocratic pride, coupled with the Legendary blade already resting at his hip, made him entirely indifferent to the risks they were taking for loot.
The group stared at him, and turned to the clone, who walked towards the statue, and grabbed a sword.
BOOM!!!
An unknown force, impossibly dense and heavy, smashed into the clone, sending it flying backward. The moment it entered the trap zone, the spatial-rending sword appeared from the void, and with a swift, merciless movement, it shattered the clone into pieces.
THUD!
Hitachi fell to his knees, and vomited a mouthful of blood, holding his chest in pain.
"Young master, Hitachi!!" Casey rushed towards him in surprise, her composure shattering at the sight of their untouchable vanguard taking damage from across the room.
"This?" Hitachi turned to the clone, which shattered into light particles:
’That’s just a clone, even if it gets destroyed, I won’t feel any backlash! Was the caster also targeted?’ He thought in horror. The Sun family’s defense mechanism defied conventional logic—it didn’t just obliterate the physical construct; it traced the origin of the energy thread and delivered a brutal, soul-piercing strike directly to the caster.
"Now... I am interested in the Sun family." Mirabella stopped in front of the Angel, rising her head, staring at the angel’s angry face. Her vast regressor memories held blank spots regarding her own lineage, making this anomaly an irresistible mystery.
’Here I go.’
She thought, and placed her hand on a sword, and the next moment, her consciousness got sucked into a void.
___
Mirabella appeared on the sky, hovering in the air, her eyes wide in horror, staring at the battlefield below. The scale of the carnage defied everything she knew about Galaxy Fall. Her gaze fixed on the tens of millions of corpses all over the place, and standing before them was a woman with a long golden sword, radiating an aura of pure, absolute sovereign power.
WHOOSH!!!
BOOOOM!!!
With a single swing of the woman’s sword, tens of thousands of dark figures shattered into dusts. The resulting shockwave tore through the atmosphere, a display of strength that surpassed even the highest-tiered fighter.
Mirabella blinked, staring at the woman, her face was covered with her helmet, so she couldn’t see the face.
"I won’t let you achieve your goal, Lamashtu!!!" The Lady screamed, her voice echoing with divine authority.
’Lamashtu?! Isn’t that the goddess who turned Earth into a monster infested world?! And even got me killed in my pass life?!!’ Mirabella thought in shock. Yes, Angra Mainyu was the one who killed her, but Lamashtu was his Master. The sheer, suffocating terror of the apocalypse that ended her previous life threatened to overwhelm her senses.
She turned her head ahead, staring at a lady surrounded by bright light: "You can try to stop me, but you will never stop the Great King!!!" Lamashtu screamed, as the space before her tore opened, and an angel with ten wings, just like the one in the cave, flew out from it:
"Kill her blood Angel!!!"
WHOOSH!!
’What is this?! Are these guys gods?’ Mirabella thought, watching as the lady and the angel collided, the force shattered the earth and mountains below. It was a clash of cosmic entities, a forgotten war erased from the history books.
The lady landed on her feet, raised her hand, and removed her helmet: "I know you’re there, maybe you can help me get rid of this pest for good." She said, and shot forward again, still backing Mirabella.
’This voice? Why does it sound so familiar? And... Was she referring to me?’ Mirabella thought, her heart hammering against her ribs. But before she could move forward, a hand landed on her shoulder, and she snapped awake.
__
Mirabella moved her gaze around, she was back at the cave: ’Huh? Time didn’t move here?’ She thought in surprised, realizing she had been pulled into a localized temporal mind-space.
’What was that?! Who was that woman? And who is this Great King that even Lamashtu serve?’ She thought, her hand still resting effortlessly on the hilt of the legendary sword. The cosmic hierarchy she thought she understood was suddenly vastly, terrifyingly more complex.
’Is this seal related to the Great King? But... I am so confused, system! Do you have any idea?’
{Idea on what, Host?}
’Huh? The system doesn’t know?’ Mirabella was speechless. For the supposedly omniscient System to be entirely blind to this vision... it meant the Sun family and this "Great King" existed on a plane that even the System couldn’t monitor.
’Forget it, this isn’t the time to think about this... After the Competition, I must know everything about the Sun family!!’ She thought, her resolve hardening into unbreakable steel. And with a single pull, she removed the sword from the tenth wing. The mythical weapon yielded to her grasp without a hint of resistance.
’No matter who you are, I am not scared of you.’ She said, channeling her indomitable willpower, placing her hand on the second sword, and removed it, then the third.
The nine stood in stunned silence, watching as Mirabella continued removing the swords, their minds completely blank. The lethal Lv500 guardian mechanism, which had nearly executed their Knight and heavily injured their vanguard, was allowing her to strip it bare like a personal armory.
’Who really is Mirabella?’
The thought echoed in their heads, redefining their entire perception of their captain.
