Future Pet Shop

Chapter 111: The Third Pet

Chapter 111: The Third Pet

"Uh, my driving skills are pretty average. Isn’t it a bit of a waste for me to be driving this ’divine car’?" Shen Yibin said hesitantly, looking at the incredibly cool logo.

"It’s fine. If you’re too scared to drive, I can be your chauffeur." But Sylvie had her heart set on this car. "Boss, look, the back seats can be removed. Once we clear out the space, it’ll be much more convenient for getting things done. We won’t have to worry about not having enough room." Yes, Sylvie was being completely innocent; she was referring to Shen Yibin going to pick up stock.

But this salesperson was clearly a degenerate whose mind immediately went into the gutter. He instantly thought of a certain... *popular* kind of activity, and he began to roar internally. ’A 1.75-meter tall, long-legged foreign beauty! And she was won over by a Wuling Hongguang? Boss, where can I find a girl like that? I’ll take a dozen!’

"Alright then, where do I pay? You take cards, right?" Not even half an hour after walking in, Shen Yibin had picked out a suitable vehicle. It wasn’t like he could refuse to buy it; judging by the look on Sylvie’s face, she clearly had no intention of getting out of the driver’s seat.

Paying, filling out paperwork, getting a temporary license plate, arranging insurance—after going through the whole series of procedures, it wasn’t long before the car belonged to Shen Yibin. It was just that his mood was a little complicated. ’Back when I didn’t have a car, I spent every day thinking how great it would be to have one. So why am I driving my own car now and not feeling happy at all?’

"Boss, Boss, the space in this car really is huge!" Sylvie seemed much more excited than Shen Yibin. She was energetically moving about in the back seat, letting out excited cries from time to time. This caused drivers in the adjacent cars to turn and stare. Someone even gave Shen Yibin a thumbs-up, flashing that knowing smile men give each other.

’Damn it, it’s really not what you guys are thinking!’ Shen Yibin had no idea how to explain. He just kept his head down and drove back to the shop, then gave Xu Ye a call to ask him for help with the license plate. When he heard that Shen Yibin had bought a Wuling Hongguang, he was exceptionally envious. "Bin, how about we trade cars for a few days? Let me bask in your glory and satisfy my craving to drive the ’divine car’!"

"You think you can trade your beat-up old Mercedes for my ’divine car’? Are you still dreaming?" Shen Yibin decisively crushed his fantasy. "Just get it done for me as soon as you can. Come by the shop when it’s sorted, and I’ll treat you to a meal."

"No problem, just wait for my call." Xu Ye was very well-connected, so handling this sort of thing was a piece of cake for him.

Since he had a car now, and it was still early, he figured he might as well go get stock from Bao. So, Shen Yibin gave Bao a call and drove the "divine car" out to the pet breeding farm in the suburbs.

When he arrived at the farm, Bao and the others couldn’t stop praising Shen Yibin’s new car. They all rushed forward to take photos with the "divine car" for posterity, then posted them in their group chats, sparking a wave of envy.

This wasn’t Shen Yibin’s first time here, so he quickly picked out the pets. This time, there was no need for Bao to make a special delivery trip. Dozens of pets were loaded into the "divine car," and there was still a considerable amount of space left over. The back of this car was like Qiwa’s treasure gourd—no matter how much you stuffed inside, it seemed impossible to fill.

"Thanks, Bao. I’ll wire you the payment next month." Shen Yibin settled his accounts with him on a monthly basis. He had already paid for the previous batches, so he didn’t need to pay for this one right away.

After bidding farewell to Bao, Shen Yibin drove the "divine car" back to the shop under the envious gazes of countless people. He parked in front, opened the back doors, and Sun Qian, Sylvie, and Hah’Er hurried out to help him move the newly arrived pets inside.

They then found suitable places for all of them, cleaned their enclosures, and fed them. For a while, the group was swamped with work. Luckily, Hah’Er was there. Under its supervision, all the pets were very well-behaved. They quickly adapted to the shop’s environment, showing no signs of the discomfort that comes with being in a strange new place. Soon, they were full of energy again, lively and playful.

"Everyone’s tired today, so let’s close up early! Hah’Er, let them out of their cages so they can stretch their legs." A normal pet shop would never let out so many different kinds of animals all at once, but Shen Yibin wasn’t worried at all. Hah’Er wasn’t called Class Monitor for nothing. Oh, scratch that—looking at the number of pets in the shop now, Hah’Er had probably earned a promotion to Platoon Leader.

"Mm!" Hah’Er nodded and let them out of their cages. They formed neat lines and began marching in circles around the room to exercise, a sight that made Sylvie’s jaw drop once again.

"This one’s too fat—obviously a lazy bum who only eats and doesn’t move. This one’s fur is all mottled, clearly not a purebred. This one’s eyes are dull. Is there something wrong with its brain...?" Cheeky flew into the middle of the pets, unleashing a torrent of complaints. It seemed that even with a new owner, the little guy’s sharp-tongued nature hadn’t changed one bit.

"You guys carry on, I’m going to make dinner." The downstairs was suddenly filled with the racket of cats and dogs, giving Shen Yibin a headache. Thankfully, the shops on both sides had already closed for the day, or someone would probably be banging on their door by now.

After dinner, Sun Qian left for her singing gig at the bar. Sylvie was upstairs clearing the dining table. Hah’Er and Cheeky continued to lead the shop’s other pets in exercises in the main hall, while Shen Yibin leaned back on the sofa and pulled out his phone.

’It’s probably time to get the third pet from the Future Pet Shop, isn’t it? I just hope this next one is easier to take care of. That rascal Cheeky cost me so much money, and in the end, only brought in a commission of just over 3,800. If it hadn’t brought so much foot traffic to the store, I would’ve been at a major loss.’

"Hello, am I able to get a new delivery now?" he typed, opening the chat window and sending the message.

"Yes. Do you want it right now?" the Future Pet Shop replied quickly.

"Yes. Can you give me a hint as to what kind of pet you’re sending this time?" Shen Yibin continued to ask. "Also, how long until I can level up? And what are the benefits of leveling up?"

"The pets are sent randomly, so I don’t know what you’ll get either. As for leveling up, you’ll be about ready once your accumulated commission reaches 50,000. You’ll find out about the new permissions after you’ve leveled up."

’I only got a commission of 3,800 from Cheeky. How long is it going to take to save up 50,000?’ Shen Yibin’s head throbbed. ’It looks like this miserable life is going to continue for a long time.’

"Alright then, send it over now." After Shen Yibin sent the message, the Future Pet Shop quickly agreed.

So, Shen Yibin watched Hah’Er and the other pets play while he waited for the delivery to arrive. But he waited and waited, and his phone still hadn’t rung by the time Sun Qian got back from work.

Based on his previous two experiences, the delivery should have arrived within half an hour at most. Shen Yibin began to worry. ’What on earth happened this time? Surely there wasn’t an accident, right?’
