Chapter 568 - 507: He Is Naturally Sterile
Chapter 568 - 507: He Is Naturally Sterile
"After so many years, he’s never managed to have one because he’s naturally sterile!"
Dun dropped a bombshell, stunning Sang Luo.
But Sang Luo knew this bastard was full of lies; you couldn’t believe eleven out of every ten words he said. ’Dun is probably saying this just to confuse me!’
Unexpectedly, he continued,
"Sha is not of the Ghost Clan. He is a World Soul, the Guardian of the Ghost Domain, and he is incapable of having children!"
"...What do you mean?" Sang Luo’s mind was in chaos.
"Heh, it’s exactly as it sounds, little beauty. He is the World Soul of the Ghost Domain. He has no reproductive ability, so he can’t have children at all!" Dun found this amusing. "The World Soul’s true body cannot leave the Ghost Domain. He can only leave that place if he has an heir to inherit and take over his duty."
"But no matter how much he wants a child, he was born sterile. The child in your womb can’t be his. It can only be mine!" Dun gazed at Sang Luo obsessively, raising a hand to touch her face. She dodged him. He wasn’t angered, simply retracting his hand with a smile. "Luoluo, I am the one with the pure Ghost King bloodline. You have nothing to lose by having my child."
Sang Luo didn’t believe him. "Even if it’s not from Sha’s bloodline, it’s definitely not your child. I’ve never done anything with you."
She was certain of that.
Dun’s expression was calm as he spoke unhurriedly, "What do you think I gave you that time?"
Sang Luo’s expression changed drastically as a thought struck her.
There were only two ways for a male to produce an heir. The first was through union with a female. The other... was to trade a life for a child!
Most ordinary Beastmen conceived offspring through union. However, the more talented a Beastman was, the harder it was to have children. Some were even born sterile.
This small fraction of Beastmen, in order to pass on their bloodline, would often choose to use their bloodline’s energy to create a new heir of the same lineage just before death. This was the legendary "trading a life for a child."
But once this method was chosen, the original body would die completely. Therefore, unless it was absolutely necessary, no one would be willing to use it.
But Dun was born with seven Exquisite Hearts. In simpler terms, he had seven lives! He could easily sacrifice one for a child!
So, what he gave her that day was...
"BLECH!" Sang Luo vomited.
It felt as if insects were crawling over her flesh and bones. The revulsion was overwhelming.
Seeing Sang Luo’s intense rejection, Dun’s expression faltered. He gripped her wrist tightly, his eyes dark. "You’re that unwilling to carry my child?"
"Does Wang Wangshang have no self-awareness?" Sang Luo flung his hand away, her voice laced with disgust. "Why didn’t you say so before? Why come and sicken me with this now?"
Dun composed himself and said with a faint smile, "Luoluo, you hate me so much. I was afraid you might do something to my child. Naturally, I had to wait until your pregnancy was stable before telling you the good news."
Even with all his power, Dun knew the child was inside Sang Luo’s womb. If she had truly wanted to harm the child and end its life, he would have been powerless to stop her. It was far better to conceal the truth. He would wait until she had formed an unbreakable bond with her unborn child before revealing it, allowing him to use the child as leverage against her later.
Now, Sang Luo and the child’s fates were intertwined—if one thrived, so did the other; if one perished, so did the other!
She had no choice but to give birth to this child!
Sang Luo’s already thin face grew even paler and more haggard. She ground out through clenched teeth, "Despicable! Shameless!"
"Heh heh... Just as I’d expect from the vessel I chose. Luoluo, you understand my character quite well." Dun felt no shame, a wicked smile playing on his lips. "Actually, Luoluo, you don’t have to be so resistant. I genuinely do have feelings for you. I truly want to be with you. As long as you give birth to this child safely, we can wipe the slate clean on all our past grievances. I’ll give you anything you want, and I swear I’ll never harm the Beast World, or your mates and children, ever again."
Sang Luo’s lips curled into a sarcastic smile. "How about you go die, then?"
Dun knelt before her, looking up into her eyes with sincerity. "I will be a good husband and father."
Sang Luo kicked out at him. "Get lost!"
Dun caught her ankle smoothly, caressing it with suggestive intimacy. "Just give me a chance, and you’ll know my feelings for you are real!"
"You..."
Before her alluring lips could utter another hurtful word, Dun pulled her off balance and into his arms with a tug. He swept Sang Luo up, carrying her like a princess, as a black teleportation hole ripped open behind him.
But in the next second, Yan appeared and sealed the black hole.
At the same time, the woman in Dun’s arms vanished. ’A Clone?!’
Only then did Dun realize he had fallen into a trap. His face turned hideous as he transformed into a black shadow and fled. Yan also transformed into a streak of light and gave chase.
Meanwhile, in the Soaring Snake Palace, Quan Jin watched worriedly over the woman who had been unconscious in bed for several days.
Finally, Sang Luo’s eyes fluttered open. Quan Jin breathed a sigh of relief and caringly stroked her face. "Sangsang, are you feeling any better?"
Sang Luo shook her head. "I’m fine."
But after the Clone returned to her body this time, Quan Jin felt that her complexion was even more pale and fragile, making his heart ache for her. "What happened?"
"I saw Dun." Sang Luo looked down at her flat stomach and suddenly said, "Ah Jin, you were right... Is there any way to get rid of this child?"
Quan Jin’s heart seized. He hadn’t expected her to have heard what he said back then. He frowned in disapproval. "It’s too late. If we had found out right at the beginning of the pregnancy, we might have had a chance to remove it. But forcing it now would cause immeasurable damage to your body. We can only find a way to let you give birth first."
"...But I don’t want this child anymore."
Quan Jin took her hand, his voice full of concern. "What exactly happened?"
But Sang Luo didn’t want to talk about it anymore. She just said she was too tired and wanted to rest. Quan Jin had no choice but to get up and let her be. After leaving the room, he ran into Yan, who had just returned.
His plain white robes were somewhat torn and stained with blood, clear evidence of a fierce battle.
What was even uglier, however, was Yan’s expression.
"Luoluo’s unborn child has the bloodline of the Ghost Clan."
Although it was still too early in the pregnancy to tell for sure, the faint aura of its bloodline was too distinct. Yan had his suspicions and, unable to bear watching Sang Luo’s health decline, had used one of her Clones as a diversion. He never thought his guess would be right.
Quan Jin was slightly startled, but it was also within his expectations. He asked in a low voice, "Is it the Rakshasa King’s child?"
Yan shook his head. "No. It’s Dun’s..."
"The child in my belly has nothing to do with him!" Sang Luo suddenly threw the door open. She had clearly overheard their conversation.
She stormed out, fuming. "No one is to ever mention this child’s father again! It only has a mother, no father!"
"Sangsang..." Seeing how agitated she was, Quan Jin started forward to comfort her.
Yan beat him to it, pulling Sang Luo into his arms and kissing her forehead. He whispered, "We’ll listen to you. This child has no biological father. It can call me ’father.’ I’ll raise it as my own."
Quan Jin and Yan exchanged a look. Seeing Yan glance back and give a slight shake of his head, Quan Jin swallowed the words he was about to say. He stepped forward and also gently hugged Sang Luo, saying softly, "Don’t worry about all that. We are all the child’s fathers. We’ll take good care of you and the baby."
