Chapter 190- How things will go

Chapter 190- How things will go

It was reported to the Police that Mira was found at a shrine near their house, blindfolded and her arms tied with ropes.

They had already made an elaborate story that they would be telling everyone who would ask about Mira's sudden disappearance.

Naturally, they couldn't just tell the world about the demonic side, yet. Sooner or later, they would get to know that there is another realm out there. There are species like human beings, albeit superior. And they are very well set on asserting dominance.

From what Minoru heard from Seraphina, the governments of major nations, including Japan, know about the existence of the demons and the demonic realm.

That explains why none of the chaos caused by the stray and newborn came to light.

The government is adamant about keeping the other side hidden from the general masses. And there is a concrete reason behind it.

Peace.

Knowing there are creatures who can just appear out of nowhere and tear them apart...yes, the world would be plunged into chaos.

"So much happened..." Shiori said once Minoru finished the whole story of what happened on the other side.

The police had left an hour ago, and since then, they have been sitting in the living room as Minoru narrated the whole thing they experienced in these five days.

"My office is in that area," Kosuke quietly muttered, his brows drawn in concern, "...many people are going to lose their lives that day."

Minoru nodded, "I know, Dad, but we can't do anything. Seraphina told me to keep the information to myself since if the words go out and the beast tribe gets to know that their plans are exposed, things would turn ugly."

Seraphina doesn't want to let the beast tribe know about her stand in this situation. And if the beast tribe got suspicious, they would surely somehow discern that it was Minoru who leaked their plans.

"We will risk ourselves if we try to inform the authorities about it," Minoru spoke in a heavy voice.

Mira turned towards her husband, "He is right, dear. We have to think about ourselves here. And it's not like if their plans are exposed they would stop trying. At least this time we know what is going to happen so we can prepare for the worst."

Minoru was thankful to his mother for understanding things.

Shiori bit her lower lip, "Why are they doing this so suddenly? I mean, they never tried attacking us before...then why suddenly?"

Minoru hummed, "I am confused too...Seraphina also didn't have any concrete answer to that."

The portal between the two realms opened around seventy years ago...then why now of all times?

A brief silence descended before Shiori informed, "Ah, yeah. Akisu visited a few hours ago and he called me a few times. The same goes for Naoko. Tell them you are okay."

Minoru sighed and looked at his phone. It was nearly half past one.

Getting up from his seat, he said, "Alright, I will."

Saying so, he stepped into the hallway and first tried Akisu's number.

He didn't respond.

That's why he just dropped a message that he was fine and his mom had returned home.

Then, Minoru opened the chat box he shared with Naoko and wrote the same text.

But just when he was about to turn the screen off,

*Bzzz*

Incoming call.

Naoko.

"..." Does this guy not sleep?

Heaving a sigh, Minoru picked up the call.

...

Back in the living room, Shiori was hugging her mother, tears pooling in her eyes.

Mira calmly hugged her daughter and assured her, "I am really fine. These few days were enough for me to recuperate."

Shiori sniffled, "I have never been so worried before. First, Minoru ran away, and then you disappeared."

Upon hearing Minoru's disappearance, Mira turned her gaze towards her husband and found him staring back at her; his gaze held unease.

Right, she had several days to think about this but not her husband. For him, everything happened in a whirlwind.

"Shiori," Mira gently called out, "Can you make some tea for us?"

Shiori hummed before she slowly parted from her mother and left the duo alone.

Kosuke remained silent for a moment. Trying to find words to say. Just then,

"Weren't you worried for me? Or was I being too hopeful?"

Kosuke released an exasperated sigh as he sat beside her, and after taking her hand, he said, "You know how worried I was. You can read me like no one else, yet you ask this..."

Mira fondly smiled at his reaction.

She rested her head on his shoulder and told him, "I was really hurt...to see you on the bed with Minoru that day."

Kosuke's heart turned heavy as he said, "I know. But trust me Mira...only Minoru has been my partner other than you."

Mira hummed, "Same goes for me. Maybe because he was a family member, I didn't feel guilty cheating on you? Or maybe it was the other way?"

Kosuke didn't say anything about that, rather, he suggested, "Mira...whatever happened, and whatever will happen, I just don't want Minoru to leave the family."

"The same goes for me." Mira said, lifting her head from his shoulder and looking at him, "I have thought a lot about what happened and reprimanded myself for how things turned out." Squeezing his hand, she told him, "Minoru is family, and that will never change."

Kosuke smiled at her.

Mira sighed before telling him, "Now...how do we want to continue our relationship will depend on one thing."

Kosuke was nervous as he asked, "On what?"

Mira grinned as she told him, "You will find it soon."
