Chapter 188- Be safe
Chapter 188- Be safe
“These are the locations they’ll target,” I said, marking points on the map.
All of them were in Tokyo, about twenty kilometers from the community where we lived.
Seraphina’s brows drew together. “They’re targeting the Vanquisher’s Headquarters in Tokyo.”
My brows rose. “You know where that is?”
She let out a short sigh. “Of course. The Vanquishers might be few in number, but they’re strong. For safety reasons, we keep track of them.”
Stella asked, “Then why the other three locations?”
Seraphina hummed thoughtfully. “I’m not sure.”
After a pause, I said, “Maybe because they’re crowded areas?”
They looked at me, and I pointed at the first mark. “This is a shopping complex, this is a train station, and this one—closest to the headquarters—is an amusement park. The attack’s planned for Sunday, when these places will be packed.”
Stella’s frown deepened. “So they want to cause panic before attacking the headquarters, huh?”
She caught on quickly.
Well, I’m keeping my friends, family, and lovers far away from those places that day.
The silence didn’t last long before Seraphina asked, “Did you find anything else useful?”
I crossed my arms, thinking. “Military supplies—enchanted weapons, armor, and… something called M-death.”
Stella’s eyes widened slightly, and she exchanged a look with her Lady.
I tilted my head. “What’s M-death?”
Seraphina explained, “It means Death of Magic. Think of it like an EMP, but for magic. They plan to fight humans in pure physical combat… and that won’t end well.”
I raised a brow. “You do know we have guns, right? Without magic, they’re just wild beasts.”
Seraphina nodded. “True, but their natural endurance is high. Still, they wouldn’t last against military guns and tanks.”
Stella added, “Then M-death is their last resort. They want humans to feel powerless. This isn’t meant to be a full war—it’s a warning.”
This was getting serious. Should I be worried?
After a short silence, Seraphina advised, “Take everyone you care about far from the red zone.”
I nodded. “No doubt, I will.”
She glanced at Stella, who gave a short bow and left the room.
I took a seat on the couch across from the Queen, thinking she had something more to say.
As I guessed, she asked, “Have you thought about joining any faction, Minoru?”
I shook my head. “I’m happy where I am.”
She sighed. “I expected that answer. I won’t force you, but if you ever want to learn more about your powers or get proper training, I can help you.”
I paused. That was tempting.
I rarely used my offensive or defensive skills. In daily life, I mostly relied on my charm—and I was very good at that. But my other abilities? Not so much.
“And what would you want in return?” I asked.
“Nothing right now. But if, in the future, I find a use for your abilities, I might ask. It wouldn’t be anything forced.”
I was a bit surprised. “So generous… Well, I wouldn’t mind some training. How do I contact you?”
Seraphina slipped a ring off her index finger and tossed it toward me.
I caught it with my telekinetic hand and brought it closer for a look. An eye was carved into its surface, and it was small enough to fit my little finger.
“Kiss the ring and call my name,” she instructed. “But don’t do it too often. I won’t always be here to open a gate for you.”
I nodded. “Once a week, then.”
Just then, the doors opened and Stella walked in, pushing a small cart stacked with various items.
“These are the rewards for your services,” Seraphina said, crossing her legs. Gods… those thick thighs.
“This,” Stella began, lifting an orb that immediately drew my attention, “will create a dome around you that can deflect and resist almost any kind of attack. Naturally, it has a limit, but it’s still very useful—possibly tank missiles and basic magic attacks. The barrier covers an area of five hundred square meters and lasts for a full day.”
My brows shot up. “That’s a pretty damn good barrier.”
She moved on, holding up a pair of gauntlets. “These will increase your striking power and cause a bleeding effect. Only use them if you actually know how to throw a punch.”
Well… I can throw a punch.
Next, she showed me a small pouch. “Inside are pills that temporarily boost regeneration, speed, strength, and demonic energy.”
“And finally,” she said, lifting a sleek black card, “there’s ten million yen on this. Spend it however you like.”
Wow… they were rewarding me very generously.
I turned towards Seraphina before saying, “This..is a lot.”
The Queen shook her head, “You risked your life…this is nothing in return.” She rose from her seat saying so.
I, naturally, got up as she approached me.
Taking my hand in hers, she whispered, “I hope you survive, Minoru. You have a blend of both human and demons. And I admire that.”
…I don't understand what she just said. I have a demonic side to me? Do I act like one?
Breaking my thoughts she cupped my cheek, she inched closer and planted a brief kiss on my lip.
“Be safe.”
