From God of Lies to Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 85: Vampire Hunter Lincoln!

Chapter 85: Vampire Hunter Lincoln!

"The simplest method right now is to ask the remaining members of this family. We need to find out if they left anything behind, or if they have any other family residences!" Baron declared immediately.

This was the best solution they could come up with.

As a part of the upper-class social hierarchy, he clearly understood the development patterns of these famous Old Money and political families.

They definitely wouldn't keep all their information in just one place.

"But every single member of the McDowell Family has been slaughtered!" Gao interjected. "They were having a gathering at the villa tonight. It looks like someone deliberately targeted them to silence them completely!"

"We contacted all sorts of relatives of this family immediately, but even the closest ones are far away in San Francisco, and they haven't been in touch with the main family for decades!" Austin added.

The crowd fell silent, unsure of what to say for a moment.

An isolated family had been wiped out in a single night, leaving behind this final piece of documentation. From every perspective, this seemed incredibly bizarre.

"Let's re-examine history!" Qian Si finally broke the silence. "By cross-referencing this document with the history we know, we can check if there is anything we can use, or any actual physical locations that still exist!"

"If the contents of this diary are true, then we should be able to uncover something from it!"Since the Vice President had spoken, everyone naturally nodded in agreement and prepared to continue sorting through the historical records.

The history professors were true professionals. They could discern additional information and correlate these details perfectly with real-world history.

Professor Margaret spoke first. "The timeline in the diary matches up perfectly. Whether it's the initial outbreak or the defeat at the Battle of Bull Run, everything aligns!"

"Even the subsequent Defense of Washington D.C. explains this very well... The dates are entirely accurate!"

"The only difference is that the history we know has absolutely nothing to do with these Monsters!"

Everyone nodded. This kind of evidence was isolated. Even with the Advent of the Supernatural, there was no solid reason to prove the diary's authenticity.

However, Professor Thomas did not share this view. He stared at the diary before him, his eyes filled with doubt. "It doesn't mention anything related to the Church, so why are there names of several Bishops?"

During their earlier debate, he had noticed figures who were quite renowned in the history of the American Catholic Church.

Yet, the Archbishop Lauscher mentioned in the diary wasn't American at all. He was the Archbishop from Habsburg, second only to Pope Pius IX during that era!

At this thought, an idea suddenly sparked in Professor Thomas's mind. Before the Advent of the Supernatural, people might have considered any connection to the Church to be a far-fetched interpretation.

Many people used to forcibly link themselves to the Church to claim legitimacy or other special statuses.

But if the Supernatural Worldview was real, then this wasn't just a simple connection. Could these names be some sort of cipher or clue?

Focusing intently, Thomas scrutinized the text. Finally, he discerned something hidden within the words:

He had seen the names of these Bishops in a book before! It was a specific volume of classic prayers he had studied during his time as a Priest at Trinity Church. Could it be...

"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit!

O Watcher of Jacob's Ladder,

Please look down upon this realm defiled by the Blood Moon—"

A mysterious prayer tumbled from his lips, causing everyone in the conference room to turn around. They stared at the elderly Theology Professor, wondering if he had lost his mind.

"The molten sword of Saint Michael hereby ordains:

South to the humus layer of the Mississippi River,

North to the moraine bedrock of The Great Lakes,

All who suck human blood shall rot into pillars of salt,

All who worship fangs shall fall eternally into boiling tar!

For The Lord has proclaimed:

I shall eradicate the wicked beasts from the Promised Land. Amen!"

While everyone was still bewildered, the antique, elegant diary unexpectedly began to slowly levitate in front of their very eyes as the prayer echoed through the room.

A pure white holy light flashed in their eyes. Then, the already vintage diary gradually faded further, transforming into an even more ancient artifact.

The pages grew incredibly brittle, and the ink's color deepened profoundly!

Thud! The diary dropped back onto the table, drawing everyone's gazes down with it.

Qian Si immediately asked, "Professor Thomas, are you..."

Before he could even finish his sentence, the old professor collapsed, seemingly drained of all his mental energy.

Gao, who was quite experienced in this matter, murmured, "Communing with unknown entities consumes a massive amount of energy. Professor Thomas couldn't handle the strain!"

He had witnessed a similar scene back in California. This was practically a classic repetition.

The medical staff arrived a few minutes later and carried the old professor away, leaving the rest of the group staring at the diary on the table.

Merely knowing about the Supernatural and actually witnessing it manifest right in front of them were two completely different sensations. Everyone was thoroughly spooked, yet they tacitly accepted the reality of what just happened.

Naturally, Margaret and the others wouldn't dare utter the word "absurd" anymore. The collapsed Professor Thomas and the Divine Miracle that had just occurred before their eyes were proof enough!

Instead, they eagerly opened the diary once more, only to find that the previously blacked-out contents had been revealed:

"September 22, 1862, evening. We saw a slain Vampire in President Lincoln's office!

It was a Monster that had attempted to infiltrate the office to assassinate President Lincoln and put an end to The Federation, only to be slain by the President himself using a silver candlestick!

President Lincoln also revealed the most astonishing Secret to us: he wasn't originally a lawyer or a congressman, but a Vampire hunter!

Because he had failed in his solo battle against the Vampires, he chose to eradicate the very soil that allowed them to exist—the institution of slavery in the South!"

Following this statement was a lengthy, emotional reflection: "My God... who could have imagined that the President was actually a mighty Warrior, and that the true nature of our war was a battle between humanity and Dark Creatures?"

"This is entirely horrifying and deeply frightening, but for the future of America, we have no other choice!"

"June 1, 1863. The Roman Catholic Holy See finally received our notification and dispatched an Archbishop to the battlefield with holy relics and holy water! Thank goodness there was still time. With the aid of holy water and silver, we managed to stem the tide of defeat!"

"July 2, 1863. President Lincoln personally arrived at the frontlines carrying silver-plated bullets, and led us in a charge to eradicate the Dark Creatures! My God, he truly is a Warrior. He fired a bullet straight into the heart of the Werewolf commander!"

...

Reading these records, Margaret had a sudden epiphany. "No wonder President Lincoln said back then that when the dry bones beneath the cotton fields begin to roar, the law must become the new demon-hunting crossbow—we all thought it was a political metaphor, but in reality, he meant it literally!"

Within this complete document, they beheld a specific historical narrative that was completely detached from the history they knew!

In this version of events, President Lincoln was a formidable Warrior, while the originally mediocre generals ended up serving as exceptional chroniclers.

The history professors relentlessly debated the authenticity of these revelations, but the more they talked, the more horrified they became:

"This records the Battle of Manassas... It matches up perfectly. In the original history, the left flank was torn apart! Was that the work of Werewolves?"

"September 22, isn't that the day the Emancipation Proclamation was issued? Did the Vampires and Werewolves sense their impending doom, prompting them to send assassins?"

"The night battle on July 2 also perfectly aligns with the specifics of the Battle of Gettysburg... My God, what kind of era do we actually live in?"

"And just how massive of a Price did the Pioneers of America pay in this war against the Dark Creatures?"

They hardly dared to imagine it, yet a profound sense of doubt and a sudden urge to scrutinize the past had thoroughly taken root in everyone's minds.

They abruptly realized that they seemed to be living in an enshrouded False World, while the true reality had been buried beneath a carefully constructed history.

They also developed a new burning question. "What kind of role and image did the Church play in this grand narrative?"
