Chapter 76: An Assist from the Authorities (110)
"Crown, the light created by Wish Power can indeed cover the entire island and even spread to the surrounding areas of Manhattan and Brooklyn..." Alvin said with some confusion. "However, it doesn't actually have the ability to stop the magma from erupting, does it?"
The light appeared dazzling and incredibly powerful, but the frugal Bai Yang hadn't added any special effects to it. It was just light.
"This power certainly can't, but The Core can!" Bai Yang declared. "This is a brilliant idea I came up with to save both God Power and Wish Power!"
In truth, if he could have, Bai Yang would have loved to create such a massive spectacle back in Luo City.
Unfortunately, he had been a pauper back then with only a few dozen points of God Power to his name. Without any guarantee of a return on his investment, he couldn't possibly be that reckless.
Now, he had several hundred points of God Power at his disposal. He was no longer lacking, yet he still meticulously calculated every expense.
Manifesting the descent of a massive Angel would still consume a tremendous amount of energy, so he simply chose to release a burst of light instead!
It only cost 100 points of Wish Power to maintain a brilliance as bright as the sun for everyone to see. What more could he ask for?
Such a radiant display would naturally be perceived as a Divine Miracle brought about by The Saint. It was an incredibly easy connection for people to make.
This was exactly what Alvin was confused about. The light had been released, but the crisis remained unresolved. What were they supposed to do about that? This was exactly when The Core designed by Bai Yang came into play.
As a partial vessel for his power, combined with its formidable Quantum Attribute and robotic processing capabilities, it could trigger this crisis and, naturally, resolve it just as easily.
The truth was, this magma came from directly beneath the island itself!
By utilizing its immense computational power, The Core had slightly distorted the subterranean environment, allowing the magma to break through the endless pressure on its own and surge to the surface.
This seemingly energy-intensive natural disaster was actually the most cost-effective part of his plan.
It relied entirely on Earth's own natural forces, costing very little of his personal power.
Therefore, calming it down was just as simple. By removing the force guiding the subterranean pressure, the forcefully erupted magma would naturally recede once that pressure was gone.
The moment the radiant light vanished, the magma had already stopped surging.
"It really pays to study hard!" Bai Yang sighed with emotion. "Next, it's all up to The Core!"
......
In reality, the light had been a bit too dazzling, to the point where even Golden Hair was shocked enough to cover his eyes!
It wasn't until the light faded, the magma stopped erupting, and the crisis was temporarily averted that he finally let out a long breath of relief!
Naturally, everyone else relaxed as well. Whatever problems had arisen or crises had occurred along the way didn't matter. The important thing was that their gamble had paid off in the end.
Going forward, there would be plenty of room to spin the narrative regarding this incident.
Beside Golden Hair, Vice President Thousand quickly asked, "Mr. Great Leader, are you alright? Nothing can happen to you. The entirety of America is still relying on your leadership!"
Hearing this, Golden Hair looked thoroughly pleased. "I'm fine, just a little dazed... I have expended too much effort for the sake of this country!"
Upon hearing his words, the people around them followed Thousand's lead, standing up in unison to applaud!
"The Great Leader must take care of his health, so that you can continue to lead America to greatness!"
They all chimed in with their praises. Even the officials from New York State, who frowned slightly at the display, wisely chose not to ruin the mood.
Only when the applause faded did Golden Hair finally turn his attention back to the screen and ask the Chief of Staff, "How far did this light reach? Can we still suppress the news?" The Chief of Staff shook his head in distress. "I'm afraid that will be very difficult, Your Excellency! This light shined straight through to Brooklyn. Even from as far away as Staten Island, the appearance of this light was clearly visible!"
Everyone fell silent. The truth was, all the information regarding New York had already been transmitted to this conference room.
This included, but was not limited to, the details Stephen knew. Even the extraordinary descent that Jeff had described had already been corroborated by other evidence.
Several prison guards who had witnessed the entire event were immediately pulled into helicopters after reaching the roof of the prison's highest building, where they were subjected to detailed interrogations.
It was safe to say that everyone present already had a comprehensive understanding of tonight's events.
And Golden Hair's words indicated that the events of tonight could no longer be brushed off as an "accident," "filming a movie," or any other excuse meant to placate the public!
Hearing this, Thousand immediately said, "I think this might actually be a good thing, Great Leader!"
"Oh?" Golden Hair looked at him curiously. "What do you mean?"
"As you know, the West Coast is no longer trying to hide the crisis caused by that tornado. In fact, many people are already enthusiastically discussing the relationships between The Church, the Aztecs, and the deities of the Maya Descendants!"
"Those Maya Descendants in San Diego have even started preaching in public!"
"And now, a similar situation has occurred in New York. However, on our end, an Angel has descended to help you, the Great Leader, maintain your rule, even delivering a Divine Miracle to protect the city!"
"This is undoubtedly your achievement. It can reverse our recent political downturn and win us a massive amount of votes!"
Thousand declared loudly, "What you need to do now is head to New York immediately. Tell the people of New York and the entire nation that this descent of The Lord was achieved under your leadership!"
"As long as you are the first to establish contact with that Holy Knight and Saint, we will definitely be able to control the situation and perhaps even truly become the spokespersons of The Lord!"
At these words, Golden Hair's eyes lit up. "You're right! This was our achievement to begin with! We need to head over there immediately and let them know that we were the ones who stopped this disaster from happening. We have won a great victory in this war against the Demons!"
Nothing else mattered. What truly mattered was telling their citizens that they had won!
Thousand had grasped the core of the issue, and Golden Hair certainly wasn't slow to catch on either.
This matter was incredibly important. It concerned Transcendence, and even touched upon The Church, the future, and perhaps even immortality itself!
However, as standard political creatures, they understood better than anyone that the prerequisite for obtaining these things was keeping a firm grip on their power. Only then could they gain an advantage in the future acquisition of Transcendent Power!
If they couldn't rely on their political status to control the overarching situation, then according to the rules of this country, they wouldn't have much of an edge against the Old Money, the Proper Stars and Stripes of America, and the Top Financial Groups!
Consequently, Golden Hair immediately gave the order to prep Air Force One, preparing to fly straight to New York!
But that wasn't the end of it. As everyone else left, the office door opened again. Golden Hair, who had remained behind, waited for his youngest son, Baron, to arrive.
"Father!" Baron greeted, handing over the documents in his hands. "I've reached out to many members of The Church, but unfortunately, they seem to be completely unaware of these events!"
"We haven't been able to gather any information about Transcendence from them, almost as if Transcendence doesn't exist at all!"
Hearing this, Golden Hair burst into laughter. "Just as I suspected. These people have managed to hide in history for so long; they definitely won't spill their secrets so easily. You're coming with me to New York this time, Baron! I will give you plenty of time to make contact with these Transcendent Beings!"
"You must remember: what belongs to the authorities stays with the authorities, and what belongs to the state stays with the state. But the connections that belong to our family are the only things that will truly endure!"
Golden Hair naturally knew what his subordinates were up to. Every single one of them spouted High-Sounding rhetoric about acting for the sake of the nation and the party, but in reality, each of them was desperately and relentlessly trying to establish contact with these Transcendent individuals!
They all wanted a piece of the pie in this Era of the Extraordinary, seeking greater benefits for themselves rather than acting "for the sake of America" as they claimed.
Fortunately, Golden Hair had begun laying the groundwork much earlier. His youngest son would serve as his family's Bridgehead for approaching Transcendence!
"Then what should I do, Father? Should I convey our sincerity to them?" Baron asked curiously.
"No, no, no, we shouldn't do anything of the sort. Just use your official capacity to make contact with them! All you need to do is become their friend, nothing more!" Golden Hair was incredibly clear-headed. He knew exactly what he wanted, so all his actions were highly restrained.
"My child, you must understand that Gods might not have weaknesses, but these Transcendent Beings—even Saints—most certainly do."
"And as long as we discover those weaknesses, we can become their friends!" Golden Hair proclaimed with absolute confidence, waving his hands in the air. "No one understands God better than I do! No one!"
