From God of Lies to Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 53: The Undying Demon

Chapter 53: The Undying Demon

"I'll talk, I'll talk!" Will said loudly, collapsing onto the ground as yellow urine flowed out from his empty pant legs.

He didn't feel any pain at all, only saw the flames burning, but this lack of pain was more terrifying than actual pain.

His leg was still burning right in front of him, and the emerging flames seemed to burn even brighter because of his fat!

This kind of fear was the most terrifying—he could see his own body burning, but aside from watching, he could do nothing.

He didn't know there were police outside, he didn't know the police were watching through surveillance, he only knew he had been targeted by a "demon," and aside from complying, he had no other options.

The "revenge" he had just been thinking about naturally became nothing but a castle in the air; if he sent people to retaliate against such a "monster," that would truly be asking for death.

Therefore, Will had no choice but to slowly confess everything he had done.

"I embezzle veterans' pension funds, I directly take their retirement money, and I also use their identities to obtain addictive drugs, then sell them back under different names!"

Will said, but seeing the man whose eyes seemed to flicker with flames, he quickly tried to justify himself, "I actually wanted to give it to them, but I couldn't!"

"It's not just me taking! People at headquarters are taking, everyone involved in the money flow is taking, the congressmen at the top are taking, the clerks below are skimming too—except for the actual veterans, everyone else is part of this profit chain!""If I don't take it, Commissioner Smith will take it; if Commissioner Smith doesn't take it, Congressman John will take it!"

He looked at this bizarre man and finally argued, "If you don't take and I don't take, I wouldn't even be able to keep this position, so you really can't blame me..."

This seemingly reasonable speech didn't shake Remus in the slightest.

"What do you mean 'you don't take, I don't take'? Are you saying everyone in this entire chain is bad, with no good people? Then how did I receive my first and second retirement payments? And after you came here, I couldn't even get medical subsidies?"

Hearing this, Will broke out in a cold sweat!

Of course he knew why—because although his predecessor also took, he didn't take much, only occasionally skimming.

But when he arrived here, to cover his gambling debts and get more capital to recoup his stock market losses, he directly chose to pocket this huge amount.

After not being discovered and with no one overseeing it, he became increasingly brazen, colluding up and down, working both inside and outside, grasping almost all of this money in his hands!

He thought this was seamless, but facing the veterans of Manhattan, he had no defense.

No matter how eloquently he spoke, making heavenly flowers bloom and golden lotuses emerge from the earth, facts were undeniable—they simply didn't get their money, that was all.

Sure enough, Remus had already reached for Will's other leg, which made him even more panicked as he shouted loudly, "I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I'm sorry! It's my fault, I misused this money, but I planned to return it after my stock trading ended, I can recoup my losses, really, believe me! My stocks are about to turn around..."

Then, he saw the stock page on his office computer, all red, and his face turned even paler, "Don't do this, we can still talk about other things, right?"

"Stop quickly, we still have many things to discuss, no need to be so hasty... really!"

"For example, I know many people who take money from me, maybe you'd like to know their names too?"

Hearing this, Remus finally stopped his hand and looked at Will, "Continue!"

Based on his earlier actions, no one would doubt his choices—these names spoken by Will would definitely become this man's next targets!

This made the people in the conference room inexplicably nervous; wouldn't they have their names exposed by this guy too?

Wasn't this equivalent to being written into a superhuman's revenge list?

"Chief, our snipers are in position!" Right at this moment, Chief Stephen, who was watching the surveillance, received the first good news of his day!

After all, this was New York Manhattan, America's largest city, and also the city with the most complete equipment and personnel.

To withstand various crises, their police force, the NYPD's combat capability, was extremely powerful.

The standing tactical snipers were an embodiment of this powerful capability—almost immediately after the emergency alert sounded here, their special operations units were already in position!

Therefore, Stephen nodded slightly, "I know, can the snipers see the target?"

"Yes, opposite the Department of Veterans Affairs is an apartment building. Both the fourth and fifth floors have excellent visibility of the target!"

Then, the old detective serving as frontline commander exclaimed, "Oh! My God! What am I seeing? He's lighting fire in midair?"

Stephen could also see in the footage before him—although Remus was listening to Will's account, the black flames igniting on his fingers were clearly visible!

"Yes, he's a special criminal. Do you have confidence in taking him down?" Stephen said.

The detective didn't speak, but the sniper joined the channel, "Of course, sir! As long as it's a carbon-based life form, nothing can survive a 12.7mm sniper round!"

"Then open fire, kill him first!" Stephen said decisively.

The sniper chewed his gum, slightly narrowing his eyes, "Hope I get a longer vacation, sir!"

"Boom!" The bullet left the barrel with an explosive-like sound, crossing the street, arriving before Remus in what seemed like the blink of an eye.

Looking at this bullet, he found he actually had about 0.1 seconds of reaction time to dodge it.

Of course, by the time he thought this, it was already too late to dodge!

"Thud!" Remus's body was directly carried away by the tremendous force, crashing to the ground.

The sniper quietly put away his gun, "Sorry, you might look strong, but my bullet is stronger! Mission accomplished, sir!"

Chief Stephen was pleased, "Detective, you're an excellent sniper! Perhaps we can..."

Their happiness didn't last long enough for Stephen to finish his sentence. In the footage before them, just as Will was dragging himself over to see if this man was completely dead, the other suddenly stood up again.

Remus stood up from the ground, and everyone could see that a large chunk of his head seemed to be missing, looking extremely gruesome and terrifying.

"That really hurts, and there are snipers too!" Remus said, picking up the piece of his head that had been shot off from the ground nearby, then fitting it back onto himself.

Some black flames ignited on his head, fusing these separated parts back together.

After about a minute, he completed reassembling his body and turned his gaze toward the nearby camera.

"Humans can't kill demons, don't even think about it!" Remus said, seriously facing the camera before him, "I know you're watching me from there, and I know you gave the order to kill me, but I don't care!"

"Human Remus is already dead. What lives now is Remus O'Connor, the demon messenger—a vengeful judge who loves delivering judgment!"

"Those who took the money that rightfully belongs to veterans should face judgment! Since heaven won't do it, then we from hell will!"

"I won't bother you, and I hope you won't bother me either. Otherwise, if I get attacked again, I will retaliate!"

"Although I won't die, these attacks really hurt. Let's not have a next time, okay?"

He looked at the camera with an utterly calm expression, speaking words that made their hair stand on end, "And our Mr. Commissioner here is just the first stop of judgment!"

He snapped his fingers, and Will, who was already terrified beyond measure, had his limbs, body, and head separate once again, each burning under black flames.

These pure black flames, for some reason, reminded Chief Stephen of the judgment holy flames from Garden Church he'd seen in videos—both judged sin, seemingly no different?
