Chapter 243: Thus There Are Buddhas in the Human Realm
Chapter 243: Thus There Are Buddhas in the Human Realm
"My God!" As soon as this scene unfolded, countless observers could not help but mutter a prayer for God's protection.
Before their very eyes, this Buddhist Monk radiating golden light was displaying his full might, just like a wrathful deity!
That golden light was not some ostentatious beam painting his entire body gold. Instead, it was a pale golden luminescence that slowly drifted from beneath his skin, swirling naturally as he restrained all his movements!
It was archaic, understated, serene, and natural, as if he were a boulder of solid gold that had endured eons of pounding yet remained steadfast and unchanging.
He stood firmly in place with his hands pressed together in prayer. Yet, he resembled a giant Buddha, intimidating everyone within the space. The aspect of the Wrathful Vajra Gaze could only be attained by someone possessing immense perseverance, absolute decisiveness, and profound enlightenment!
"May this body of mine bear the divine might of the Venerable, casting aside all thoughts of foul pus and blood, casting aside all thoughts of muscle, bone, marrow, and brain! Let me embody the will of the Vajra! Unbreakable, vanquishing all demons, severing all illusions! Om Maha Kashyapa Svaha!"
These words, accompanied by a sky full of Buddha's Light, merged entirely into his body, leaving Jari standing opposite him utterly bewildered!
It was clear that he was trying to figure out where this Transcendent enemy had come from, but he simply could not wrap his head around it!
Unable to understand, he decided to stop thinking about it altogether. The greater advantage for him was the fact that his own power was continuously growing.
Jari could feel his strength increasing. Therefore, he firmly believed his actions were right and had been sanctioned by the Celestial Gods, which only made his behavior increasingly unbridled and reckless. This was actually Bai Yang's handiwork. Or rather, it was the foundation and rule he had relied on when he first established the abilities of Transcendence—the Divine Faith connection mechanism.
In fact, this was directly tied to the Wish Power absorption system Bai Yang had created in his initial setting. In the very beginning, back when he was still in Vespucci Town, the Cross hanging on Angus's chest was his tool for gathering Wish Power.
Later on, when shaping Transcendent Beings, these individuals were given similar items to act as vessels for Wish Power. They would absorb this energy to continuously strengthen themselves.
This could be considered a small hook that Bai Yang had left behind. Future Transcendent Beings would all secure continued advancement thanks to this subtle design.
As long as they conformed to the Divine Faith, they would be favored by Wish Power, and thus, they would be continuously enhanced!
Of course, Jari did not align with the Divine Faith in Bai Yang's setting. However, he perfectly aligned with the corrupted beliefs festering within this city!
That tainted Wish Power became the source of his might, fortifying his strength every step of the way and making him appear even more arrogant and ferocious!
"You want to kill me!" Jari glared at the Buddhist Monk before him, a wide grin splitting his face. "Then I have no choice but to kill you!"
With that, he revealed his Asura True Body for the very first time. Those terrifyingly ferocious fangs, the spikes covering his entire form, the flames blazing atop his head, and the reversed blades protruding from his arms transformed him into an enormous, horrifying monster!
Just standing there, his aura was overwhelming enough to shake the heavens and earth. At the very least, it made all the observers watching the event shudder with fear!
What kind of monster was this? It was brutal, greedy, and utterly terrifying. From those massive, lantern-like yellow eyes, a savagery and cruelty radiated so intensely that it seemed capable of piercing right through a person's body!
"Is this... an Asura?" Baron asked in horror, standing beside Golden Hair.
"Yes, that is an Asura! A child of the Celestial Gods, a ruthless entity capable of contending against them, and even slaying the Heavenly Emperor Indra, also known as Sakra!"
A Buddhist Monk standing nearby spoke softly. As one of the rare inheritors of Northern Buddhism in America, his eyes grew brighter and brighter, and his posture straightened with mounting reverence. "World-Honored One, has your mighty power finally traversed through the Saha World to reach us?"
He pressed his palms together and chanted softly, drawing no attention from anyone in the room. After all, from the perspective of the drone, the wrathful Vajra was already advancing toward the Asura.
Everyone held their breath. They could all guess that a unique battle of Transcendence was about to unfold!
Even though many had actually witnessed the battle in New York and had seen the war between the Dragon Slayer and the dragons, they still kept their eyes glued to the screen.
That was because the footage from those two clashes had not been very clear; one took place at night, and the other in the early hours of the morning.
But this battle was happening in broad daylight, right above the city, under the watchful eyes of the public!
Everyone could sense that this would be an incredibly important opportunity—a chance to evaluate and test the limits of Transcendence, and a reference for what they would need to consider when facing Transcendent Beings in the future.
High-level Officials from many nations had gathered together, staring fixedly at the footage. They needed to use this highly public and transparent battle to determine what kind of stance they should adopt when dealing with any Transcendent Beings that might emerge in their own countries! The glory of Christianity had already begun to dominate the world. Could it be that Buddhism was next to rise?
Many harbored such speculations in their hearts, only to be entirely dazzled by the golden Light erupting on the screen!
"You shouldn't be in this Realm! This is my Realm, my future zone of rule!" Jari roared in a state of madness. In his Asura form, he had already charged right in front of the monk, wielding his reversed blades, his eyes brimming with sheer savagery!
"I have already completed my cultivation! I came to this life purely to enjoy my blessings! Why are you trying to stop me?"
Hearing this, the wrathful Vajra could hold back no longer. He waved his hand to block the incoming attack and shouted, "The karmic sin upon you is countless times greater than any merit you possess! How dare you claim to have completed your cultivation? I see that your True Spirit has been blinded by karma, making you completely forget your true self!"
"Namo Shakyamuni Buddha!" he chanted another holy name, sending the Asura flying with a single punch. Empowered by the might of the Vajra, he was not someone a mere Asura could match.
His descent into the mortal world this time was not to engage in a spectacular brawl, but rather to follow the World-Honored One's command to display the power of Buddhism. And, conveniently, to have a proper chat with a certain rebellious Bodhisattva!
Thus, just when everyone assumed there would be a fierce, earth-shattering struggle between the two, this Vajra simply sat right down where he stood.
"Asura, are you willing to return to the Netherworld with me?" he demanded, his eyes wide with wrath.
"Die!" Clearly unwilling to answer, Jari lunged forward instead. On his severely distorted, ferocious face, only a chilling horror remained!
"Lord Buddha's Compassionate Mercy!" The Vajra lowered his gaze, and his figure was enveloped by a burst of golden Light, effortlessly blocking the strike.
In the next second, he raised his hand. With a faint shimmer flowing across his fingertips, he gently traced a line through the void, tapping directly on the forehead of the reeling Jari!
"Vmmm—"
An ancient Buddhist swastika symbol, formed entirely of golden light, manifested instantly. It slowly rotated, radiating boundless heat and Light, illuminating every dark and gloomy corner of the city until it was completely bright and transparent, as if evil energy had never existed there at all.
As for Jari, he was suppressed beneath this Radiance with a stifled whimper. He collapsed to the ground, his fate unknown.
In the eyes of the outside observers, this Radiance was more like the prelude to a special event. Following its appearance, an even more massive beam of golden light suddenly erupted, transforming into a colossal pillar of Buddha's Light that pierced straight into the sky!
Then, an illusory silhouette actually materialized in the heavens. It was the projection of a Buddhist Monk with a Shaven Head, and it was picking up the seated figure on the ground, slowly reshaping him!
At this moment, he was a human-shaped Buddhist artifact, the embodiment of will, the manifestation of the Authority of Wisdom, and a Vajra driven by Compassionate Mercy.
Soon after, he gradually transformed into a golden demon-subduing pestle, falling neatly into the grasp of the phantom.
It was only then, upon seeing this scene, that the disciples of Buddhism slowly came to a realization!
"No wonder he could summon the Venerable Kashyapa! No wonder he could directly transform into a Vajra! Because he was never a so-called monk to begin with, but rather this Buddha's demon-subduing pestle!"
This exclamation shocked everyone. Since it was a Buddha's demon-subduing pestle, did that mean the towering silhouette that had just descended upon the world was that specific Buddha?
"Thus have I heard. At one time, the Buddha was dwelling on Mount Sumeru..."
A grand and sprawling Buddhist chant echoed in the ears of everyone present. Yet, the arrival of this being was not for the sake of the Asura, but rather for a much deeper and more profound existence!
The colossal phantom of the Buddha shifted its gaze past the Asura, casting it entirely upon the city below.
Then, under the shocked gazes of the entire world, he pressed his hands together in reverence and bowed deeply:
"This humble monk... Maha Kashyapa, greets the Kinnara Bodhisattva!"
