Chapter 203: Bloody Massacre
Chapter 203: Bloody Massacre
Six hours ago, Sicily Island.
On the way back to the gang, Gabriel told Leon about the story he had seen in the Sacred Parchment Scroll, or rather, the history he had witnessed.
He learned about the development of the special organization known as the "Assassin". This organization originated in the Middle East during the fourth century and gradually became active following the invasion of Attila the Hun, the Scourge of God.
They walked among royal authority, Nobles, the wealthy, and religious figures. Relying on their formidable strength and the study of Shadow Power, they gradually reached their peak.
The most famous among them was the origin of the word "assassin" itself, marking the emergence of the Assassin sect.
However, long before the emergence of this sect, The Church already possessed an Assassin team.
Hearing this, Leon appeared somewhat filled with Curiosity. "So, is your power also Shadow Power?"
"Yes, we also possess Shadow Power. I heard it originated from an Assassin Mentor who joined The Church. Under the guidance of Pope Gregory I, he joined the Roman Catholic Church in Constantinople and became the first-generation Assassin Mentor."
"Shadow Power is not an opposing force to the Light, but rather a power subordinate to the Light with its own unique properties. It can conceal the body, hide one's tracks, and cause sounds to almost completely dissipate..."
"Most importantly, this power does not affect our Divine Faith. On the contrary, it makes it easier for us to draw close to The Lord... The more devout a Believer is, the stronger the Shadow Power they can often manipulate!"Hearing this, Leon finally understood. He continued to ask, "Then, do you Assassins of the shadow still have colleagues belonging to the Inquisition in Europe?"
"His Holiness the Pope gave me the Power to summon the Brotherhood. If you can see their past and future, perhaps you can have them return as well!"
"The Lord has once again cast His gaze upon us, and the radiance of Heaven has already blanketed the mortal realm!"
Gabriel shook his head in regret. "Unfortunately, all the Assassin Families engaged in a prolonged tug-of-war with those terrifying Monsters during the long 'silent period' after the Middle Ages, and then they completely died out."
"As for the colleagues in the Inquisition, they did not leave any information behind. I do not know where they went either!"
"I am the last Assassin Apprentice and Assassin Master, as well as the final Assassin Mentor. I hope His Holiness the Pope can grant me the official status of an Assassin Mentor so I can begin training Assassins anew and form the Shadow Guard!"
Leon immediately declared, "He will. You do not need to worry about that. He absolutely will!"
His eyes narrowed slightly. "Crown St. George personally stated that a crisis is about to descend upon this world. Every bit of strength will become the power we use to protect the world, so The Church will certainly give you ample room to operate!"
"Vampires, Werewolves, and Demons—these Monsters that have already infiltrated human society—will also become your targets!"
"As long as you have the heart to protect humanity, everything within The Church will be open to you!"
Hearing Leon's words, Gabriel slowly nodded. With his past experiences and the responsibilities of his Family, he was no longer that Assassin who was Seeking Death and Life. He now had a much more definitive goal and a clearer future.
"O Lord, I will strive to carry on the Family and my Divine Faith. So, may I see them? Even if it is just a single glance?"
Gabriel prayed softly. Then, through the misty Light before his eyes and through the high walls of Divine Faith, he witnessed a clear, extraordinary scene in a distant realm!
It was his parents, his Family Members, and his relatives. They were all in a faraway place, watching him, seemingly smiling at him.
They were not all standing on the steps of Heaven. Instead, they stood in a special space. Only his grandfather stood in an area of infinite Light, backed by a Sacred, majestic mountain...
'This is Spiritual Vision!' Gabriel came to this realization. He knew his prayers had worked, allowing him to see those Family Members who still existed, even if only as Souls.
His Divine Faith instantly firmed up. Since Souls existed, the Heavenly Kingdom must exist as well. His Family Members were all steadfast Believers and "good people." Surely, they would be able to reunite in the future!
This was the power that Divine Faith brought him. The man who had initially been somewhat hesitant and indecisive now had endless Light blooming in his eyes!
Because they had Divine Faith and a future, they were entirely fearless!
"Your Excellencies, we have arrived!" No Sooner Had the Words Fallen than Albert Coppola's voice rang out. A bodyguard helped pull open the Car Door for them, and they stepped out in front of an Estate. After all, this was the Sicilian Mafia, an organization with a history longer than the nation itself on this Sicily Island. It was actually not unusual for them to own such an Estate.
However, Leon immediately called out to stop Albert, who was about to enter the Estate. "Mr. Albert, is your Family always this open? Are there not even guards at the entrance?"
"How could there be none? The entire Estate is strictly guarded. Mr. Gabriel should know this!" Albert replied casually, only then realizing something was wrong.
"Wait, is there really no one here?" He froze in shock. Inside the Guard Room at the entrance, not a single person was present. On the surrounding high walls, in the adjacent streets... all these places that should have been manned were completely devoid of a single silhouette!
At this point, even a Fool would know that something had gone terribly wrong here. Albert immediately picked up his phone and began dialing his acquaintances.
What followed was a continuous string of silence, until he finally connected a call, only to hear the same bewilderment from the other end. "Young Master, we cannot contact anyone from the Family either!"
Albert stood at the entrance, somewhat crestfallen and momentarily at a loss. "The boss, the underboss, the consigliere, the enforcers... there is no news from any of them. Only the soldiers and associates are still around..."
He turned his head to look at the magnificent and dazzling Estate before him, but he could not force a single smile. It was as if he were staring at a man-eating monster lying in wait!
Ultimately, Leon took the lead. He prayed to the heavens once more, borrowing the Light of a Paladin, and slowly walked inside gripping his spear of Light.
Beside him, Gabriel had already concealed his figure, accompanying him as they infiltrated the grounds.
At that moment, Leon was surprised to discover that even though Gabriel had completely hidden his presence, he could still accurately determine the other man's position through the connection of the Holy Light!
'Is this the bond between Believers?' He suddenly understood the true meaning of "fighting side by side." An Assassin whose position could be pinpointed by his teammates would play an even more immense role on the battlefield.
But he soon had no mind to ponder such things. As the two approached the Estate without finding a single sign of the living, a thick, Bloody stench wafted into their nostrils!
There was no need to think or assess. The instant they smelled that Bloody stench, the two sprang into action simultaneously. They charged straight into the interior of the Estate before them and violently kicked open the tightly shut main doors.
As the doors burst open, a pillar of blood violently sprayed outward from the entrance. The two managed to dodge it, allowing the gore to drench Albert, who was trailing closely behind them.
A severed head then slowly rolled down, coming to a stop right in front of Albert.
"Mother?" Albert broke down entirely. He had brought Transcendent Beings here just to investigate traces of the Vampire Race within his Family. He never expected that the first thing he would see upon returning was the death of his own Family Members.
He fell to his knees at the doorway, his expression crumbling in utter despair, barely able to even speak.
Leon and Gabriel proceeded further inside, their hearts trembling with increasing shock with every step they took.
Corpses were scattered everywhere, and bloodstains painted every surface. This castle belonging to the "Coppola Family" had now become their Family graveyard.
"There are no traces of Bullets, nor are there any remnants of a struggle. They walked in here one after another and willingly allowed themselves to be killed!" Gabriel revealed his figure beside Leon, presenting the results of his observation. "There are no survivors left here, nor are there any tracks of Vampires. They must have already left!"
Leon nodded. "It is the power of the Thaumaturgy of the Blood. Through this power, they lured everyone in this Estate here and slaughtered them!"
Such occurrences were not uncommon in America, so Leon was not overly surprised. That Wallachia III could even directly mesmerize an entire village.
He was merely marveling at how swiftly the perpetrators had acted here. "They moved too fast. Albert just mentioned on the road that he departed from here yesterday. That means... in just a single day, the Vampires completed a thorough massacre of this place!"
The two pushed open the side doors, allowing more fresh air to flow in and thoroughly exposing the Corpses to the sunlight.
They all resembled mummified husks. The blood in their bodies had completely vanished without a trace, yet there was no terror on any of their faces—only peaceful "smiles."
It was exactly this kind of smile that left one's Heart Trembling With Terror!
