Chapter 176: Modern Weapons VS Evil Dragon
Chapter 176: Modern Weapons VS Evil Dragon
"The ultimate incarnation of greed is a complete Dragon. This perfectly aligns with the historical ballads of Northern Europe!" Watching the scene unfold, Bai Yang nodded in approval.
He felt this was the correct approach. After all, if he had simply created a Dragon out of thin air, even with a detailed backstory, various flaws would eventually emerge.
But now, the logical closed loop created by desires manifesting into a Dragon caused the divine fire he had ignited for the Norse Pantheon to surge significantly. This was the power brought about by historical resonance.
Naturally, he was thrilled!
Beside him stood the hotel staff, who had lost all memories regarding him. They had just squeezed into the basement, narrowly escaping the recent apocalyptic crisis.
Bai Yang was a creator god, not a murderer. He could not bring himself to manipulate these innocent people into dying during the catastrophe.
These survivors would merely think it was their own cleverness that led them to hide here, completely unaware of Bai Yang's presence.
"Crown, the appearance of the Dragon has caused the Wish Force in this city to nearly double in an instant!" Alvin's voice echoed in Bai Yang's ears, prompting a satisfied nod. "Yes, that is exactly how it should be!"
"Alvin, is this segment of history effective enough?" Bai Yang asked with a smile, waving his hand to summon the divine fire belonging to the Norse-Germanic Pantheon.
He extracted the newly acquired Wish Force and tossed it into the flames like firewood to fuel the blaze! He never did anything without a purpose, so this event was naturally directly correlated with his ultimate goals!
For instance, with God's Pantheon, he utilized demons and various disasters to reinforce the common cultural beliefs. As for the Norse Pantheon, the method he adopted naturally involved these unique creatures!
Elves, Dwarves, and, of course, Dragons, along with the eternally inseparable connection between Dragons and treasure.
This was a universally recognized mythological system, but because the stories were too ancient and the number of believers too small, it had never been able to accumulate enough historical weight.
And now, in just a single night, the first stage of all this Wish Force had been successfully gathered!
Alvin nodded. "It is enough, Crown. The provisions belonging to magical creatures have been established. The divine fire will grow stronger once more, and the divine pantheon is being perfected!"
Both of them stared at the flames before them. They could clearly see that the originally pure white fire had been tainted with other colors. This was the transformed product born from the integration of the new history!
"Ah, with the existence of the Divine Kingdom, the divine fire burns much faster!" Bai Yang sighed in admiration. The addition of these colors gave the previously entirely illusory Norse Pantheon a much more solid and tangible foundation.
This was entirely different from the Sparsely Populated American Ethnic Groups next door. The Nordic Five, combined with the Pan-Germanic Population across the entire European Continent, totaled hundreds of millions. Using them to elevate a divine pantheon was naturally more than enough.
"Crown, are you merely doing this to guide the story, or..." Alvin asked, "do you intend to create another race, much like the Vampire Race and the Werewolf race?"
"Neither!" Bai Yang shook his head. Gazing at the Dragon, he smiled and declared, "I am simply delivering a special message to the whole world: in this Era of the Extraordinary, everyone has the potential to become a Supernatural Creature!"
"Greed and desire are part of Transcendent Power, but what about Fear and Despair?"
"Are there a lack of those who have gained power through Fear and Despair?" Bai Yang continued. "I also want to use this story to warn those High-level Officials not to be overly greedy or too unscrupulous, because The Gods Are Watching!"
"You truly are a Benevolent God!" Alvin complimented. "Shall we leave now?"
Bai Yang nodded slightly. "Once things conclude here, we can head to Italy. But for now, let us observe the choices these people make!"
"Or rather, let me see the choice of this Dragon Slayer whom I personally selected!"
"His ancestor was, after all, a Mythological Hero!"
......
"Notify Keflavík Base! Tell them to mobilize every single aircraft on the base and send them over!" Watching the soaring Dragon, Gao felt a jolt of horror before immediately issuing the command.
Soon, the naval air station located near Iceland's Keflavík International Airport received the order!
The Military Commander of the station pondered for a few minutes before issuing his directives. "Deploy the F-35s, F-15s, and the NATO E-3 Sentry! Head to Reykjavik! However, no one is permitted to open fire until I give the order!"
In truth, even this action left the military base supervisor feeling somewhat apprehensive.
Iceland was, after all, their traditional ally. Launching fighter jets directly into the airspace of an ally's capital without prior communication was tantamount to a blatant public humiliation!
The White House would not care, and Golden Hair certainly would not care either. But as the Military Commander, he might very well be thrown under the bus as a scapegoat once everything was over.
However, the data transmitted from the scene left him with no choice but to order the deployment. It was truly a first in his lifetime—dispatching aircraft to engage in aerial combat with a Dragon. Where could they even go to reason about such absurdity?
"Thirty kilometers—they can fly there in under a minute. Tell them to find cover and evade the Dragon's attacks first!" the commander said. "Have we still not contacted the Prime Minister of Iceland?"
"No, sir. The entire cabinet remains unreachable. One of our liaisons informed me that it is because they strictly adhere to their scheduled working hours!" The communications officer shrugged.
"These useless fools who do nothing but ruin things!" The commander was fuming, his face turning red with anger. He had originally intended to send a formal notice to make the operation appear more legitimate, but now he could not even find the local authorities?
They had better have a solid excuse; otherwise, he would definitely accuse them of Negligence of Duty at the next NATO Military Meeting!
Meanwhile, upon receiving the notification from the base, Gao felt that holding out would be incredibly difficult to achieve.
Because, right before their eyes, this colossal Dragon had already stirred up a terrifying Environmental Storm across the entire area!
With every beat of its massive wings, streaks of Fiery Red Dust splattered into the air, whipping up swirling rings of Dust of Flames!
In reality, the beast paid no attention to the people scurrying below. Instead, its eyes swept across the city, searching with insatiable greed.
But even so, as the crimson grit rained down upon the ground, it still triggered a series of disasters throughout the city.
Flames began to spread in all directions, igniting houses, cars, and streets, plunging the city into endless chaos. It served as a grim reminder to everyone that this was a Fire Dragon Catastrophe!
Fortunately for them, they were not the creature's target. This allowed them to scramble out of the inferno in a sorry state, watching helplessly as the fiery beast moved further away.
Soon enough, the target of the transformed Ralst had been pinpointed. It was the National Bank of Iceland.
"What exactly is inside this bank?" The numerous agents turned their gazes toward the man from England, who wore an expression of utmost sincerity.
"I have no idea. Why are you all staring at me?"
Gao and the others remained silent, continuing to glare at him until his skin crawled. Finally, he caved and revealed the contents. "There are still ten tons of gold sitting in the vault. We did not have time to transfer it!"
Iceland was ostensibly an isolated nation, but in reality, it possessed almost no international standing. Furthermore, its economy was entirely under the control of Great Britain, which was exactly why everyone had looked at the man in such unison.
"The answer is quite clear. It is heading to the bank to claim those ten tons of gold. From the looks of it, the legend about Dragons loving gold is not a myth, after all?" Gao muttered, stroking his chin. At long last, a faint smile surfaced on his face. "But that is fine... Things are ultimately different this time!"
"Because our military has arrived!"
Above their heads, the deafening roar of two F-15 engines echoed as they flew at an ultra-low altitude, causing everyone's hearts to surge with excitement.
(The F-35 required more takeoff procedures and incurred higher costs, so it was consequently much slower to deploy.)
This was a true testament to America's might. With military bases scattered across nearly every corner of the globe, they could, at a moment's notice, have their fighter jets hovering over any target within minutes!
Just like right now!
The two vanguard pilots spotted the Dragon looming ahead, their faces lighting up with sheer fascination. "Oh, my God! Do you see that? It is an actual Dragon!"
"I see it, I see it! But man, it flies incredibly slow. An ancient creature like this is as sluggish as a snail in front of us!"
The two jets streaked past Ralst at breakneck speeds, locking onto the beast using their Fire Control Radar. "Target locked. Permission to fire Air-to-Air Missiles?"
Having just received the green light from Golden Hair, the base commander slammed his fist on his desk. "Permission to fire! Shoot down that monster trying to destroy the city!"
Just moments ago, they had received direct orders from the White House, demanding that the corpse of the Dragon be preserved as intact as possible. Those high-ranking bigwigs had likely already finished dividing up the spoils of this mythological creature's body among themselves.
The two pilots pressed their launch buttons almost simultaneously. With a swift tail flick, they executed a dive and climb maneuver, returning to an altitude of five thousand meters to observe the results of their strike.
They joyfully assumed that the target had been neutralized, yet they could not see any further information on their radars.
"The Dragon disappeared from the radar?" one pilot muttered in confusion. 'Where did such a massive target go?'
Then, his colleague's panicked screams erupted in his earpiece. "No! It is overlapping with your radar signal! It... It is right next to your jet!"
However, the pilot screaming frantically would never hear a reply. In his radar's field of vision, his wingman had already stalled, plummeting headfirst toward the earth.
All he could see next was a colossal Dragon flashing right before his very eyes!
Flames and Claws danced in the air, a terrifying roar resonating with absolute destruction!
"Boom!" Both F-15s were completely annihilated, reduced to fireworks thousands of meters in the sky. The sight left the crowd below, who had been eagerly waiting for good news, utterly suffocated.
"Both F-15s have been destroyed; the cause of destruction is unknown. Deputy Director Gao, I need to be responsible for the rest of my boys, so I cannot authorize any further attacks!"
The commander's voice broadcasted from the comms, turning their recent suspicions into a harsh reality.
This Dragon had destroyed two fighter jets, and the method remained entirely unknown!
