From God of Lies to Lord of All Worlds

Chapter 174: Brutal Scramble

Chapter 174: Brutal Scramble

Intelligence agents acted much faster than any so-called government department.

Thanks to this efficiency, it did not take Austin long to bring all the foreign agents before Gao.

"Boss, the teams from the eight countries have arrived!" Austin reported. "Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Japan, Bharat, and Israel. Eight countries, just as we expected!"

It went without saying that the first four were major European powers, all occupying vital geopolitical niches. No matter how much they tried to avoid conflict, they would still have to come and investigate the situation here.

As for the latter four, they naturally considered themselves global powers. No matter what happened, they wanted a piece of the pie!

However, these people had all gathered together because of a single order from Gao. They frowned as they looked at him, their expressions filled with clear dissatisfaction.

The first to speak was the Bharat agent, his words thick with a heavy accent. He shot Gao a leisurely glance. "Since when are the people of America willing to talk to us so calmly?"

Hearing this, Gao glared fiercely at the CIA agents beside him.

His words were certainly not aimless talk. In fact, one could say this was a direct consequence of the CIA's own sins!

Backed by America's military might, these lunatics from the CIA operated with absolute impunity across the globe!Put simply, if the world's geopolitical struggles were all rooted in the sheer immorality of the British Empire, then all the global drug trades, regional conflicts, and color revolutions were inextricably linked to this bunch from the CIA!

As operatives on the covert frontlines, they might not have met face-to-face, but they had all crossed paths with each other's methods. They were, in a way, old acquaintances!

"Cut the crap. If you hadn't discovered a problem yourselves, would you be standing here with me?" Gao, after all, had the confidence to back himself up. With a single sentence, he pulled everyone's attention back. "It seems your ambassadors, every single one of them, are absent from their posts..."

Everyone fell into silence. They naturally knew about this, which was precisely why they had come to investigate.

The representatives from Great Britain were more amicable and helped Gao break the ice. "Our ambassador and general have lost contact, but our people saw them enter the hotel..."

The others chimed in:

"Our ambassador went in too!"

"Ours as well!"

"Our guy just walked in!"

Everyone turned their heads from the cafe where they had gathered, watching that German man in a tailored suit walk into the hotel!

The supernatural battle outside had not lasted long before it dissipated due to certain noises from within.

Whether it was the police chief or the teachers and students from ETH Zurich, they all tacitly walked into the hotel when the sounds echoed, leaving the crowd outside to watch in complete silence.

It was as if there was something incredibly important inside the hotel drawing them in.

Now, every single person they knew who had obtained a supernatural item had gone inside.

Gao had no intention of keeping them in suspense. He voiced his recent speculations in one breath and took out his cross. "This is a cross that Her Highness Saintess Caroline personally blessed and prayed over for me. All of the speculations I just mentioned came from its guidance!"

Hearing this, the eyes of the agents from various countries narrowed. They were certainly familiar with this name: Carolyn Olsen, the former outcast of the Olsen Family, now the Holy Maiden of the Catholic Church.

It could be said that even Pope Mario now spoke to her as an equal, considering she wielded the power of Precepts.

Everyone had their own channels of information and knew clearly that while most of the supernatural phenomena in the world right now might be fake, this Holy Maiden's Precepts were absolutely real!

She was a true transcendent existence, and even an existence capable of bestowing supernatural powers. Her status was easily imaginable.

The knowledge inspired by a cross she had prayed over could naturally not be treated lightly.

"So, a supernatural crisis might be taking place in this city?" someone asked.

"In fact, it is already happening!" Gao stated, pushing forward a piece of footage. "We obtained this data through the police department and the hotel management... This is highly classified, top secret special data!"

This data had just been acquired, and it was precisely because the contents were so exaggerated that he chose to reveal everything to these people!

The footage contained surveillance from this very hotel:

In the video, they could clearly witness the grand spectacle inside:

Shattered chandeliers, broken glass, a collapsed ceiling, and several "people" in various conditions, all appearing incredibly bizarre. The reason "people" had to be put in quotes was because their current state was no longer even slightly human—they had lost all human resemblance entirely!

On the bodies of these "people," a great physical strength continued to manifest. Either their muscles became huge, or their body shape became grotesque. Some even lacked faces entirely, roaming the hotel like a faceless man.

And whenever they crossed paths, a terrifying battle would erupt, shattering the floor and sending all sorts of decorations flying in every direction!

If it was just this, it wouldn't be entirely unacceptable, but as an even larger great monster appeared, no one could sit still anymore!

This massive "monster" could still be vaguely recognized as Ralst, the police chief from earlier. However, compared to when he was being chased and beaten by seven people, he was clearly much stronger now!

He held a weapon in one hand, while rings and jewelry hung around his neck and fingers. These items all glimmered with a peculiar light, bearing witness to his extraordinary nature.

Along the path he walked, several grotesquely mutated "people" lay limply on the ground, completely devoid of the strength to move...

The crowd immediately understood exactly what they were fighting for!

They were seeking to gather those supernatural items. They were slaughtering each other, engaging in a brutal scramble for that supernatural vitality!

Furthermore, one great monster had already obtained quite a few items and was currently carrying out a reckoning, hunting down the remaining survivors!

"Gentlemen, stop hiding your hands. If you have any trump cards, show them quickly. Otherwise... the supernatural slaughter inside is truly going to breed a great monster!"

At the end of his explanation, Gao spoke slowly, giving them a meaningful look.

In truth, Gao was still sitting comfortably, acting as the man in charge.

After all, he had analyzed the situation. These people looked powerful and possessed decent supernatural strength, but they were nowhere near as strong as the monsters in their own city.

They hadn't even reached the level of a common werewolf. If he deployed the military from the Keflavík Base, wiping this place out wouldn't be a problem at all.

But this was not the outcome he wanted to see. Once the military intervened, there would be no peaceful resolution, and the resulting political pressure in the future would surely be overwhelming.

Because the people inside were all political dignitaries from various nations. Never underestimate an ambassador's rank as a high-level official—attacking an ambassador was practically tantamount to a declaration of war!

Gao naturally refused to bear this kind of pressure alone, which was exactly why he had roped these people in to shoulder the responsibility together!

This footage thoroughly shocked everyone present. They had never expected that a recently discovered supernatural encounter would actually trigger such a terrifying crisis.

Among these people, aside from those university teachers and students, the one with the lowest status was that police chief. Everyone else was a high-level official!

Their injuries alone would often result in major international incidents, let alone their deaths!

Yet now, they could see that in just a few short minutes, someone had already died. His corpse had even made a clear appearance in the footage!

"Say, why is everyone in there a high-level official?" someone suddenly asked, plunging the crowd into a somewhat unexplained silence.

In the end, it was the Russian agent who stepped forward and said, "Because they are all people who got their hands on supernatural items. Such things are naturally handed over to the highest-ranking individual for safekeeping. They are the high-level officials!"

Hearing this, the German agent, who had always been at odds with Russia, let out an amused chuckle. "And how do you know that?"

"Because there is still one ring that is nearly at Red Square!" the Russian agent stated expressionlessly. "Our people withstood the test and didn't put the ring on. Therefore... nothing happened!"

He was practically pointing at their noses and insulting them, implying that their nations' high-level officials in this region were nothing but a bunch of incompetent fools!

"So, these items influence a person's mind, right?" Austin finally found an opportunity to interject. "No wonder none of them replied after receiving the news. Their minds were already hijacked, weren't they?"

"Actually, that's not true. Even while wearing them, one can still walk out of there!"

A voice echoed by their ears, causing everyone to abruptly raise their heads. Before them, they saw an old man accompanied by a young man, slowly walking toward them.

And on the index finger of the old man's left hand rested a dazzling ring!

"You are... Professor Tore Erik, and Olavur Thorsen?" Gao abruptly stood up, blurting out their identities!

Professor Tore nodded, flashing the ring on his hand. "What influenced their minds were never these supernatural creations, but greed!"
