Chapter 123: I am Tlaloc
Chapter 123: I am Tlaloc
"Crown, in our world, Cardinal Angus could now easily be called a Saint!" Alvin remarked. "If we were still on the Dylan Continent, he would have already been marked by the Gods. Upon his death, he would ascend to the Divine Kingdom to become a true Divine Servant, or perhaps even a Demigod!"
At this moment, Bai Yang stood at the very top of the light shield, casually watching the scene unfold below him. He observed Angus, Jose, and Alex, who had just entered the city—his three handpicked actors—as they flawlessly followed his script.
"He really is quite the talent. He single-handedly harvested over a hundred thousand points of Wish Power for me! He practically squeezed these people dry!" Bai Yang chuckled.
A person's Wish Power had its limits. For a long time to come, these people likely wouldn't be able to provide any more Instantaneous Faith Power, and it would take even longer before they could supply continuous, permanent Wish Power.
But reeling in over a thousand points of God Power from this single wave felt absolutely incredible!
Bai Yang found Angus far more pleasing to the eye now. Every action this staunchly devoted bishop took was driven by genuine conviction, not mere acting. That authenticity was the real reason he could rake in so much Wish Power!
He really liked people like him. As long as Angus drew breath, he would never stop moving forward, continuously gathering Divine Faith on Bai Yang's behalf.
With this set in motion, Bai Yang could easily move on to another location to continue orchestrating his grand historical deductions.
"Jose, on the other hand, is quite an interesting fellow!" Bai Yang noted. He watched as Jose led a group of high-ranking Florida officials to an elevated area and began preaching his Doctrine. Bai Yang realized that planting this particular pawn had been a brilliant move.
Jose was incredibly bold, and his methods were wild. The very first thing he did was brainwash the highest-ranking leaders in the region! He wielded his emotion-altering abilities with masterful perfection. The man was a born swindler, perfectly suited to cause an even greater impact across the area.
"Let's design a few new Ritual sacrifices for him. We can have some of the weaker demons among the seventy-two Pillar Demons grant him power. That way, even if things spiral completely out of control, we still have Raziel to clean up the mess!"
"And if things don't get out of hand? Then we let him keep playing. This city is already in shambles, so a little more chaos won't hurt!"
Having been ruthless enough to trigger natural disasters directly, Bai Yang naturally harbored no misplaced mercy. The only reason he kept these people alive was because they were excellent crops waiting to be harvested.
Therefore, granting power to Jose seemed entirely reasonable. If The Church grew too powerful, it would lead to an overwhelming unification, which paradoxically might cause the number of non-believers to rise.
This was exactly why the ancient branches of The Church fabricated rumors of Demons and hunted heretics. Only with a common enemy could they twist themselves into a single, unbreakable rope to truly consolidate their Divine Faith. Bai Yang was simply employing the exact same tactic.
The brilliance of human nature and the descent of Divine Nature both served to purify Divine Faith. Yet, in the grand scheme of things, it all amounted to nothing more than a number.
Having arranged all of this, Bai Yang casually shifted his posture and looked down at the massive serpent. "The grand spectacle is just about done. It's time to bring in something else to wrap things up!"
......
"Boom!" Beneath the brilliant white holy light stood Angus's frail body.
He had just been luring the colossal two-headed serpent, trying to make it follow him away from the area under Divine Protection.
Unfortunately, his provocation proved rather ineffective against the furious two-headed serpent. Compared to the massive target of the shielded crowd, one tiny human simply wasn't that appealing.
Left with no other choice, he took a dangerous gamble, releasing a dazzling burst of holy light that detonated right in the face of the sea serpent, Atlas.
Compared to those abilities that resembled a true Divine Miracle, this rudimentary application of holy light consumed very little energy.
Yet, it successfully grabbed Atlas's attention. The sea serpent was lured in, swiftly twisting its massive body and swatting Angus away, sending him flying through the air.
Thanks to the power borrowed through his prayers, Angus wouldn't die so easily. However, the sheer disparity in size and mass still left him struggling to hold on.
He staggered to his feet and hurled another orb of light, once again drawing Atlas's gaze. Then, he turned and sprinted off into the distance!
The figure clad in Red Robes scrambled toward higher ground, constantly hounded by the surging seawater. Watching this harrowing chase from the safety of the light shield, the crowd's hearts clenched in sheer agony!
The citizens of this nation had never seen a high-ranking official like Angus fight so desperately for their lives.
He threw himself before a mountain-like serpent, risking everything to draw its ire, solely to lead the beast away from the defenseless civilians.
The stark contrast, the heroic spectacle, and the overwhelming emotion caused many to involuntarily drop to their knees.
"Oh Lord, hallowed be Your name... Please grant Divine Protection to the Bishop. Let him defeat this great serpent and return to us safely!"
They knelt together with no other desires. Their sole pursuit was for Cardinal Angus to survive, and this unadulterated yearning birthed an incredibly pure stream of Wish Power.
This Wish Power, which far exceeded their normal limits, moved even Bai Yang. Still, he did nothing but gaze at the speeding vehicle rapidly approaching from the distance. "Perfect timing. The serpent's master has arrived!"
Not far away in the city, a lone vehicle barreled forward.
"There's a Tsunami ahead, we have to stop!" Alex shouted. He had driven all the way to the coast as if traversing a deserted wasteland, only to be met by Monstrous Waves crashing before him!
"Drive through," a calm voice ordered from inside the car.
"That's a Tsunami! It's going to crush us flat!" Alex could not help but exclaim.
"I said, drive through!"
Hearing the absolute finality in that command, Alex felt utterly helpless. "You're the boss, whatever you say!"
Facing the Tsunami, he slammed the gas pedal to the floor. "Then we drive through! Heading straight for the highest crest of the wave!"
Even though he knew his passenger was a God, Alex hadn't received any divine blessings. Facing a Tsunami the size of a mountain, sheer terror still gripped his heart.
But even so, he dutifully switched on his camera. As a reporter, he never forgot his obligation to document the event.
Just like that, the Humvee plunged into the surging waters. To Alex's utter astonishment, the vehicle instantly shifted its orientation, treating the massive wall of the Tsunami as just another stretch of road, and began a vertical climb straight toward the crest of the wave!
"Woohoo!" Despite the deep-seated fear in his chest, Alex could not help but cheer.
The sensation was incredibly exhilarating, feeling almost like he was piloting an airplane as the Humvee scaled the sheer, watery cliff face of the wave.
He only quieted down when a massive, yellow eye the size of a lantern locked onto him.
It was a colossal sea serpent. Both of its heads emerged simultaneously, surrounding the vehicle from the front and the rear.
In that exact moment, Alex lost control of his body. A peculiar energy surged from within him, violently shoving his consciousness out of the driver's seat and relegating him to the role of a mere spectator.
"Fuck, you're taking over my body again!" That was the only sentence he managed to blurt out before the haze in his eyes shifted into cold indifference.
The man continued driving the car, navigating the crest of the Tsunami. Following the serpent's gaze, he looked toward the Cardinal in Red Robes, who was currently lying on the roof of a high-rise building, gasping heavily for air.
'This... should be far enough, right?' Angus panted, his thoughts moving sluggishly. Staring at the massive black serpent, he finally made his decision!
If Atlas still insisted on attacking the light shield now, he would have no choice but to unleash his final trump card.
Judging from his previous experiences, he could use the very last drops of his life force to pray, which should barely be enough to summon the descent of an Angel.
Once that happened, the people taking shelter below would surely survive.
However, no matter what happened, he certainly wouldn't be walking away alive.
"It's just a pity... I never got to finish Carolyn's lessons. Such a wonderful child, she can't be allowed to stray from the righteous path!" Angus muttered with a hint of regret.
While he was in Luo City, he had been able to shield Carolyn from countless storms. Now that he was about to perish, she would be left to face those tempests all on her own.
"Those watched over by The Lord should be fine!" Angus consoled himself. Watching the monstrous serpent head loom over him, he slowly closed his eyes. "It's better that it stays focused on me. This way, the people won't be harmed. As for me... I suppose I'll be ascending to Heaven very soon!"
Yet, just as the thought crossed his mind, the sharp honk of a car horn suddenly blared right next to him. "Stop laying around. Atlas isn't going to eat you!"
This was the roof of a high-rise building. Hearing a car horn up here was already bizarre enough, but someone actually knew the giant serpent's name?
Angus snapped his eyes open and saw the person standing before him.
It was a man of mixed South American descent, but Angus detected an entirely different kind of aura radiating from his very being!
It was a presence he had only ever felt from Angels descending upon the mortal realm, whether it was Raziel or Gabriel!
"Who are you?" Angus looked past the man and saw the giant black serpent slowly slither up, affectionately resting its head on the man's shoulder like a docile little pet. "Are you the master of this serpent?"
"Yes, I am the master of this serpent, Bishop of Jehovah!" the man said softly. "You may call me Tlaloc!"
