Chapter 701 - 711 Stalemate (6)

His chest was warm, making it almost impossible for Qiao Mo to push him away. But she ultimately overcame the longing in her heart, removed his large hand, and said coldly, "Is Mr. Fu done talking? If so, I need to work now."

"Xiao Mo." Fu Nancheng felt a tightness in his chest, only perceiving her gaze and her voice as cold as ice.

Qiao Mo said nothing, walked away from his side, sat in front of the computer, and began typing: "I’m starting work. Can Mr. Fu leave?"

Fu Nancheng gazed at her for a long time, and two minutes later, he turned around and sat down on the sofa, not leaving.

The room quickly returned to silence, leaving only the occasional sound of Qiao Mo typing on the keyboard.

He didn’t speak again, and Qiao Mo did not insist on driving him away, yet an unspoken coldness and awkwardness always lingered in the air.

Time passed quickly, and before long, darkness had completely enveloped the sky.

Qiao Mo worked for a long time until nearly nine o’clock, when her stomach began to grumble uncontrollably, prompting her to stop and look toward the man on the sofa.

His suit jacket had been removed and neatly folded beside him.

Leaning lightly on the sofa, he seemed to have fallen asleep.

Qiao Mo gazed absentmindedly at his profile, glanced at the open window, and softly got up to close it.

Standing before him, looking at that stern profile, her nose tingled with emotion.

Clearly, time had passed so quickly; they even slept in the same bed every night.

Then why did she feel as if she hadn’t carefully looked at his face in so long?

Why did she feel that the handsome face before her seemed somewhat unfamiliar?

Unconsciously, she reached out to gently stroke his stubble, the faint shadow slightly stiff, reminding her of how his chin would lightly brush over her.

Maybe it was the wind, but his cheeks felt a bit cold.

Qiao Mo felt a pang of heartache; no matter how much she blamed him, she couldn’t control the compassion she felt.

She picked up his jacket and gently draped it over him, but before she could cover him entirely, he suddenly opened his eyes.

His sharp black eyes were bloodshot, suggesting that he hadn’t properly rested for a long time.

Qiao Mo hadn’t expected him to wake suddenly, and immediately withdrew her hand, preparing to rise.

"Xiao Mo..." his heart tightened as he pulled her back.

She fell beside him as he tightly embraced her: "Don’t ignore me."

He spoke softly, his voice hoarse and deep, tinged with a note of choked emotion.

Qiao Mo’s eyelashes trembled gently, her gaze somewhat blurred.

"Believe me, will you?" he spoke again, his voice so soft, yet it broke one’s heart.

Qiao Mo still said nothing; despite her best efforts to hold back, a layer of mist still welled up in her eyes, blurring her vision until she could see nothing clearly.

Just at that moment, Qiao Mo’s stomach untimely grumbled twice, breaking the original heaviness.

"Hungry?" he sighed lightly, asking gently.

Qiao Mo shook her head, but her earlobes flushed slightly due to the sound from her stomach.

She actually had no appetite at all, but inside her was another one, so she often felt hungry, not to mention she had eaten very little throughout the day.

Fu Nancheng wrapped the jacket around her, holding her shoulder as he guided her out: "Let’s go, I’ll take you to eat, or the little one inside your belly might start making a fuss."

Qiao Mo broke free from his large hand and walked alongside him, but maintained a distance of about two meters.
