Chapter 697 - 707 Stalemate (2)

Leaning against the door panel, with her hands placed between the small of her back and the door, Qiao Mo felt uneasy. He twisted the doorknob; it wasn’t locked.

His expression eased a bit.

The door opened.

Qiao Mo lowered her eyes slightly and took two steps back. Her gaze swept across the slippers on his feet as she turned and walked toward the sofa, never lifting her head.

Seeing the woman in front of him trying to escape, he caught up with her, grabbing her wrist and pulling her back. He spoke in a deep voice, "Where did you go? Hmm?"

Qiao Mo didn’t try to break free. She slowly looked up at him, sneering, "Do I have to report my whereabouts to you?"

Seeing the mockery in her eyes, his expression turned colder, and he pressed his thin lips without a word.

Qiao Mo’s wrist was reddening from his grip. Seeing his silence, she immediately said again, "Did you tell me when you went to see Qiao Yun? Did you tell me when you let her sit in your passenger seat? You haven’t given me an explanation about the wedding until today! What right do you have to demand I report everything to you!"

Hearing this, he was momentarily dazed.

He knew he owed her an explanation, but he couldn’t give one. If he could, he would wish for her never to know for the rest of his life.

Yet knowing it was his actions that led to her misunderstanding, he still found it difficult to accept her coldness and distance.

He couldn’t stand the mockery in her eyes, her perfunctory tone, or her... disappointment.

Qiao Mo’s eyes reddened as she forcefully broke away from his hand.

Fu Nancheng pulled her back again, grabbing her wrist with one hand, anxiously trying to explain, "Qiao Yun is just..."

Qiao Mo remained silent, waiting for him to continue.

"She’s just... an insignificant person." He spoke softly, a hint of weariness in his eyes.

Qiao Mo let out a mocking laugh, "Then just continue guarding your insignificant person. You don’t need to explain anything to me, and likewise, you’re nothing to me, so I have no obligation to report everything to you."

"Xiao Mo, do you have to make me angry?" His voice carried a hint of suppressed anger.

Seeing him grab her again, Qiao Mo shook him off, shouting sharply, "What are you to me? What gives you the right to control me like this? Mr. Fu, we’re both adults now. Where I go and who I’m with is my freedom."

"Say it again!" The flame in his eyes grew larger, like a storm of fury.

The pressure in the room dropped a few notches. Avoiding his gaze, she coldly said, "We aren’t married, haven’t registered. Did you forget this, Mr. Fu!"

The veins on his forehead stood out as he yanked her out, "Let’s go register now."

Qiao Mo tried to pull away from his arm but couldn’t overpower him.

She crouched down on the floor, wanting to refuse, yet her slippers slid across the floor as he dragged her towards the entrance.

"Fu Nancheng, I don’t want to marry you anymore! Let go of me, I won’t marry you again!"

"Don’t you dare!" he shouted fiercely, his eyes wild with frenzy.

Qiao Mo’s eyes were filled with redness, finding it all laughable.

He’s the one who provoked her, the one who said he wanted to marry her. Yet it was also he who left her alone at the wedding without a word of explanation!

She used to believe that if he said it, she would trust him.

But the laughable thing is, sometimes, it’s not about what you choose to believe; you at least need the opportunity to do so.
