Chapter 542 Engagement (13)
Qiao Mo held the items in her hand and turned to look at Fu Nancheng.Fu Nancheng glanced over but didn’t say anything. After all, since it had passed the security check, it was presumably safe.
However, in his heart, he thought the package was probably sent by Jiang Jinghao.
After all, even though neither of them had invited him, such a big event in Jiang City wouldn’t go unnoticed by him.
Qiao Mo hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to open it.
Seeing that Fu Nancheng didn’t voice any objections, she stuck out her tongue and began to unwrap the box.
The packaging was simple, and Qiao Mo quickly opened it. Inside, unexpectedly, was an envelope.
It was wrapped in a kraft paper bag and felt rather thick.
Fu Nancheng frowned, his eyes sweeping over it, thinking the contents resembled photos.
Jiang Jinghao sending photos at this time?
His eyes narrowed slightly, a trace of coldness seeping into their depths.
But on second thought, he suspected it might not have been sent by Jiang Jinghao at all.
Inexplicably, a sense of foreboding rose in his heart as he was about to speak to stop it: "Enough, let’s wait until we get home..."
But his words were a bit too late; the envelope wasn’t sealed, and Qiao Mo had already pulled out its contents.
As he suspected, the envelope was packed with more than a dozen photos, piled thickly together.
When the photos were taken out, they were face down, with a few words written on the blank space: To Qiao Mo.
Qiao Mo suspiciously flipped the photos over, and was stunned by the sight, her fingertips beginning to tremble. The dozen or so photos slipped from her hands and scattered all over the floor.
Qiao Mo’s eyes reddened, but her face turned extremely pale.
"Xiao Mo." Fu Nancheng immediately wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her into his embrace.
"Fu Nancheng..." Qiao Mo spoke softly, leaning against him as they both directed their gaze towards the ground.
Photos lay scattered across the floor, some face up, some face down, but upon closer inspection, each depicted scenes of gore and carnage.
The one lying by her feet was the first one she saw, featuring a blood-stained man lying sideways in the middle of the road, his face and body covered in blood, and the adjacent car was dented and damaged from impact.
Blood covered the man’s face, obscuring his features. The sight of black and red blood made Qiao Mo feel uneasy.
"Close your eyes." Fu Nancheng lifted a hand to cover her eyes, pressing her head against his shoulder, his gaze turning colder.
Qiao Mo’s eyes were slightly moist, her body trembling.
Even though he covered her eyes, she had caught a clear glimpse of several photos in that brief moment.
One photo showed a car interior, the driver’s head resting against the steering wheel, eyes shut tight, face smeared with blood as if maliciously applied, unrecognizable.
Another photo showed the passenger seat, revealing a man in a blue striped casual shirt, who seemed younger than the driver, yet his face was equally marred with bright red blood, evoking a strong sense of discomfort.
Yet another photo depicted an intense blaze, flames licking, engulfing black smoke, with an unidentifiable building burning fiercely, a scene of utter devastation.
Qiao Mo lowered her eyes, her lashes lightly damp, her whole body trembling, as if these photos were imprinted in her mind, recirculating endlessly.
Qiao Mo didn’t know, but Fu Nancheng understood clearly that the blood and fire in these photos had been deliberately adjusted to an extreme, gloomy hue, exerting an immense visual and psychological pressure on people, leaving a vivid, discomforting impression at first glance.
