Chapter 532 Engagement (3)

Chapter 532 Engagement (3)

Qiao Mo chose a renowned domestic designer to design traditional Chinese red wedding attire, and also selected an overseas designer for the wedding dress. With this, he didn’t ask her about anything else.

Everything moved along smoothly, and soon, half a month had passed.

It was almost the eve of the engagement banquet, and Qiao Mo finally started to feel a bit nervous.

Fu Nancheng didn’t seem to change much, staying in her rented small apartment every day, not feeling out of place.

But after more than half a month, Qiao Mo almost couldn’t face any place in the house.

The dining table, coffee table, sofa, floor, even the sewing machine in the workroom were all occupied by him.

On this day, Qiao Mo was busy sketching design drafts at the company.

However, as she drew, she rested her chin and started daydreaming.

Only two days until the engagement banquet.

Why was her heart beating so fast? Unexplained nervousness mixed with a bit of excitement.

Her phone suddenly vibrated.

It was a message from Fu Nancheng: "Come upstairs."

Qiao Mo discreetly glanced around her surroundings, grabbed a few documents, and walked toward the elevator with an air of seriousness.

In no time, she easily reached his office.

"What’s up? I haven’t finished my design." Qiao Mo spoke softly, finding an excuse, afraid he might have another burst of his uncontrollable nature, with ulterior motives.

After all, she had thoroughly experienced how terrifying this man was in certain aspects.

"Eat first." Fu Nancheng glanced at his watch; it was almost eleven.

Qiao Mo didn’t refuse, feeling quite hungry. His desk was full of dishes prepared by a specially hired chef, exceptionally exquisite.

Qiao Mo thought the chef was indeed a chef, much better than Nancheng’s cooking.

But she dared not say it aloud, knowing how petty he could be.

Fu Nancheng wasn’t in a rush to eat but was busy counting the guest list for the engagement banquet.

Normally, this task could be handled by his subordinates without worrying him.

The problem lay with Qiao Mo’s family.

Should these people be invited or not? He wasn’t sure what to decide.

"Xiao Mo."

"Yes?"

"Besides Qiao Xuan, who else from the family needs to be invited?"

Qiao Mo was stunned, feeling conflicted inside, and remained silent, unsure how to answer.

He didn’t press her, placing some pieces of meat into her bowl: "No rush, think it over slowly."

"Okay." Qiao Mo replied quietly, her heart laden with mixed feelings.

To invite or not to invite?

She knew, those in her family had never treated her as one of them, also had done such things in the past.

If she followed her true feelings, she didn’t want to invite them.

She knew their true colors all too well, and feared they might cause trouble at the wedding.

But she also feared Qiao Dehou would be disappointed knowing this, especially since she had been estranged from that family for more than half a year.

Just then, Qiao Mo’s phone suddenly rang.

She wiped her mouth, glanced at the phone; it was an unfamiliar number with no note.

"Hello, may I help you?"

"Is this Qiao Mo, Miss Qiao?"

"Yes, I am."

"This is North City Prison. Is Mr. Qiao Dehou your father?"

Qiao Mo never expected that while thinking about her father, she would hear news about him, immediately straightening up, showing a touch of seriousness: "Yes, he is my father."

"Here’s the situation, please come to the prison as soon as possible. Qiao Dehou had a dispute with someone in prison, suffered a head injury, and is now in a critical coma, currently under emergency treatment."

"What did you say?" Qiao Mo abruptly stood up from the chair, unable to believe it.

How could this happen... How could her father possibly have a dispute with someone else?
