Chapter 355: You’re Not Home?
Chapter 355: You’re Not Home?
"Miss Clayton, sign here and you can leave."Inside the police station, Evelyn Clayton signed her name on the record but did not leave immediately.
The officer was slightly puzzled, "Miss Clayton?"
Evelyn’s lips moved, her voice a bit hoarse, "Will Matthew be sentenced?"
The officer said, "That’s not certain yet. If you decide to press charges against him, it’s very likely he will be sentenced. But it still depends on the judge’s decision after the appeal. So, are you going to press charges against him?"
What was originally unquestionable suddenly met hesitation when the words reached her mouth.
"Can I see him?" Evelyn slowly asked.
The officer hesitated for a moment, then said, "Alright, please wait a moment."
With that, the officer got up and left.
Soon, he returned and said to Evelyn, "Miss Clayton, please follow me."
Evelyn got into a police car and was taken to the detention center.
Upon arrival, Evelyn was led into a confinement room. In front of her was a pane of tempered glass, and on the other side was Matthew Sullivan.
Hearing her arrival, Matthew slowly lifted his head, his eyes red and bloodshot, with a chilling gloom, inexplicably terrifying.
Yet Evelyn remained calm, meeting his gaze for a long time without speaking.
"Why are you here?" Matthew sneered after a long silence, "To laugh at me?"
Evelyn took a deep breath, expressionless, "Who incited you to kill me?"
The previous night, Evelyn had barely slept.
She thought long and hard and felt that something was amiss.
No matter how crazy Matthew was, he wouldn’t be reckless enough to commit murder in public.
Unless something or someone pushed him to the limit.
Evelyn looked steadily at Matthew, "You said I’m the one who harmed you. Think carefully. Is that really the case? Or is it that someone has been feeding you these thoughts nonstop, letting hatred cloud your judgment?"
A flicker of darkness passed through Matthew’s eyes, gone in an instant, leaving only sarcasm.
"Evelyn, are you overconfident?" Matthew looked at her disdainfully, "Do you really think I still have feelings for you and would never lay a hand on you, that’s why you’re spouting such nonsensical things?"o your place with food, aren’t you home?"
