Chapter 593: We’re Going Home
Chapter 593: We’re Going Home
On the day of New Year’s Eve.
Jasper Sinclair was still working, and Nora Northwood couldn’t bear to see him so tired, so she ran from home straight to The Sinclair Group.
"How much work do you have left, Jasper? Let me help you look it over."
"If we speed up the progress a bit, it will be done before the New Year’s Eve dinner."
Nora followed his gaze to a mountain-high pile of files.
Her hand instinctively drew out from her sleeve and hovered in the air, "There aren’t any business secrets that I’m not supposed to know about in here, right?"
"You are the lady of this place. Is there anything that you can’t know?"
"Alright then, I’m also the head of VK now. I’ll take on your assistant’s role today, but remember, triple pay, please."
"No problem." Jasper wasn’t evasive at all and handed her a few simpler tasks to handle.
Working back and forth, the progress indeed sped up significantly, and Nora got even more adept at it.
By afternoon three o’clock, they managed to wrap up the complicated tasks.
As they came out of the office, Nora joked, "Director Sinclair, don’t forget my triple pay."
Jasper didn’t respond but took his phone out of his pocket and swiped the screen a few times.
The next second, a mechanical female voice rang out from Nora’s pocket: "Alipay: 990,000 yuan received."
The sender’s owner widened her eyes, marveling, "Rich people are so willful, thanks, boss."
"Keep up the good work, I’ll always need you."
...
The Sinclair Residence was lively that evening.
Everyone from the Sinclair Family had been summoned back to have the once-a-year reunion dinner. Nora met the Sinclair family’s second uncle and the real culprit behind the harm done to Jasper Sinclair’s parents.
Jasper told her that he hadn’t disclosed this matter to Grandma Sinclair.
If Grandma Sinclair knew about it, it would certainly distress her greatly, and her heart problems might recur.
During the banquet.
Everyone toasted the old lady with juice and exchanged wishes.
Most were filled with sentiments like "good health" and "may you live a long and happy life," which were heartfelt yet not lacking in etiquette.
Only Nora was different.
She used the plainest of plain language: "I hope Grandma eats well and sleeps well, and every day her mood is as pleasant as it is now."
Grandma Sinclair clinked glasses with her and gave back a blessing: "I hope you and Jasper have a happy life together."
The elder and the young lady exchanged a glance across the room and smiled at each other.
After the reunion dinner ended, everyone gathered in the living room, chatting and watching the Spring Festival Gala.
It was peaceful until the old lady remarked, "The house isn’t lively at all without kids around!"
It was clearly hinting at something.
Lynn Woodward seized the moment, pointedly naming names, and said, "Nora has been married into our family for nearly two years, why is there no movement in her belly?"
She might have spoken without malice, but listeners were aware.
Wasn’t this indirectly saying someone had health issues?
Subtle changes appeared on everyone’s faces, and the person concerned responded, "Busy with the company’s IPO in the past two years, quite demanding, so there is no plan for babies."
The old lady didn’t mind Lynn, instead cheerfully said to Nora, "You’d better hurry, I’m waiting to hold a great-grandchild!"
"Don’t worry, Grandma."
As they chatted, the topic turned to Jenson Sinclair, "Benny, shouldn’t your marriage also be settled?"
Logically speaking, he was indeed at the age to marry.
Coincidentally, Lynn Woodward disapproved of everyone here and there, causing him to miss out on several opportunities for connection unwarrantedly.
