Chapter 577: Finally Waiting for You
Chapter 577: Finally Waiting for You
The blunt and unabashed affection, spoken from Jasper Sinclair’s lips, carried an unusual charm.
He knelt on one knee and took a ring out of his pocket.
Nora Northwood recognized it as the wedding ring she had discarded.
"You actually kept this ring!" She stared in shock for two seconds.
Meanwhile, the man’s brows relaxed as he gazed at her and asked, "May I put it on you again?"
Nora knew what wearing the ring meant; instead of hurriedly giving an answer, she sank into a moment of reflection. What had they done in the past six months?
She moved out of the manor to a small villa, and Jasper Sinclair spared no expense to buy the neighboring one.
She ousted Jasper Sinclair from VK’s circle, using his affection to repeatedly push boundaries.
The man, who disliked social events, tirelessly mingled with others to create chances of a chance encounter.
...
One thing after another, doesn’t this man love her?
He surely does love her.
Otherwise, how could he have remained entangled with her for a whole six months, even insisting on divorce?
Nora hadn’t noticed that her vision had blurred with tears as she tremblingly reached out her hand.
Reflecting on the past six months’ memories now feels like waking up from a long dream, making them once again firmly choose each other.
"Nora, give me the chance to be by your side."
At the moment the ring was slipped onto her ring finger, a clear tear rolled down Nora’s cheek, and her view cleared anew. Looking at Jasper Sinclair’s face, she suddenly noticed that the edges of this man had softened considerably.
He seemed to have gone through quite the hardship.
"Jasper Sinclair, thank you for loving me."
The two enjoyed the sea breeze for a while until Nora’s fingers were numb with cold; then they returned indoors.
Indoors was well-heated; Jasper Sinclair took off her gray coat, hung it on the coat rack, and did not forget to straighten its creases.
From then on, anything related to her, he insisted on doing personally and showed great delight in the process.
The champagne on the dining table was replaced with hot milk, and the rustic tablecloth added a warm, romantic touch.
Jasper Sinclair knew she was not fond of Western or French cuisine, so he instructed Uncle Yates to only prepare Chinese dishes for every meal.
Uncle Yates lamented his culinary skills but still followed instructions. For instance, today’s menu included swallow skin dumplings, sweet osmanthus round ball soup, and eight treasures paste... virtually a meal customized to Nora Northwood’s preferences.
The bite into the round balls revealed a chewy texture, driving dessert lovers insane!
Halfway through breakfast, Jasper Sinclair’s cellphone rang. He dabbed his lips with the napkin before answering.
"Have the evidence been gathered?"
His voice was noticeably deeper than before, losing its earlier gentleness.
Nora couldn’t hear what the person on the other end said; she only heard Jasper Sinclair say, "Let them spend one last New Year with Grandma."
When the call ended, there was a complicated look in his eyes that was difficult to describe.
"Has something happened with family?"
The day starts in the morning.
Jasper Sinclair didn’t want to spoil the tenderness of this moment with upsetting words.
But he knew Nora hoped for transparency between them.
He hesitated for a brief two seconds before choosing to speak, "While I was in Melbourne for those two months, I was continuously investigating my parents’ circumstances. Just as suspected, their deaths weren’t accidental; it was premeditated by the third family."
Nora’s throat felt as if it lost its voice.
