Chapter 571: Highway Drag Racing
Chapter 571: Highway Drag Racing
Later.
Nora Northwood did not witness firsthand the scene where the young Miss Winslow was announced as the heir.
Grandma Sinclair left early without Jasper Sinclair and Elaine knowing, and tricked Nora Northwood into leaving.
"Nora, back then, I met you in this very place." The old lady spoke while gently stroking her pale fingers, trying to awaken the warmth between them.
With her grandson being unreliable, she had to step in herself!
Nora, like a well-behaved child, laughed softly and said, "It’s quite coincidental, for you to stumble upon such an unseemly side of me."
She had a faint premonition of what Grandma Sinclair would say next.
"At first glance, I thought you were a good child. Being able to enter our family means Jasper is truly fortunate; Grandma hopes both of you will last a long time. If you ever feel wronged by him, just tell Grandma."
The old and the young sat on a bench by the street, feeling the wind for an entire afternoon. It wasn’t until dusk that Jasper slowly appeared.
Grandma Sinclair asked him to take her home, once again creating a space for the two to be alone.
On the way, Nora was silent and withdrawn.
She discovered the vehicle was moving onto the highway, leading to a logical guess: "Where are you taking me?"
This wasn’t the road back to the cottage.
Jasper did not answer her question; instead, he increased the speed, overtaking one car after another.
Nora clung tightly to the seatbelt, her breathing becoming rapid, "Jasper! This is illegal kidnapping!"
The speed continued to surge, reaching at least 180 km/hour.
It was her first time experiencing Jasper’s driving skills so intensely and directly.
"Slow down a bit, it’s really dangerous."
Nora’s voice carried a sobbing tone, her body and mind already plunged into extreme fear.
Turns out, this man wasn’t always so composed and reliable.
Screech—
Jasper suddenly slammed on the brakes, the inertia causing their bodies to slam forward.
Nora felt as though her insides were about to burst out, but there was no time to contemplate the discomfort. Her mind was filled with relief for surviving.
"Is your brain broken? Do you know how dangerous that was? What if you crashed into another car?"
She fired three consecutive questions.
However, these questions were not on Jasper’s mental radar.
"Nora, can you feel it?"
He grabbed Nora’s hand and placed it on his chest, the heartbeat pounding like a drum inside the car.
The one being held had no time to catch her breath, her eyes glistened with fear, her nose tinged with pink, a pitiful sight, evoking deep sympathy.
She clenched her fist, stubbornly trying to retract her hand.
But Jasper didn’t give her the chance; one hand controlled her waist, the other pressed against the back of her neck.
The evening glow streamed through the car window, casting a shadow of their intertwined silhouettes.
Nora was kissed into a daze, her body became limp as though boneless, utterly defenseless.
Her heart was being toyed with, already losing shape, tears as big as beans flowed down her cheeks, falling onto Jasper’s sturdy arm.
She was aware of the warmth not belonging to her, there were lines on the man’s palm and calluses on his fingertips.
Her psychological defenses were being gradually dismantled until they completely collapsed.
After a long while, they were both exhausted.
Nora rested her chin on Jasper’s shoulder, catching her breath.
Jasper did the same, greedily inhaling her scent.
