Chapter 550: Schemes and Deceptions
Chapter 550: Schemes and Deceptions
Nora looked at him, her rosy lips seeming to press slightly, perhaps an unconscious gesture, yet still captivating.
She said, "Whatever kind of life it is, it’s my own choice; Mr. Sinclair need not interfere."
"The twists and deceit in business go far beyond what you’ve seen. Do you think the matter ends just because you’ve been plied with alcohol?"
Though his voice was deep and pleasant, it made one feel intensely dissatisfied. Nora disliked his preaching, as she always had before.
Then, she stepped back, widening the distance between them, and said with full detachment, "Whether it ends or not is my business, not related to you one bit. If you have the leisure, why not teach that person at home; she probably knows even less than me!"
Jasper’s eyes slightly darkened.
Taking advantage of his few seconds of silence, Nora left, walking with heels clacking.
The sound of "click-clack" echoed in the corridor and weighed heavily on the heart.
At this moment, his phone in his pocket rang—speak of the devil—it was Peach Bell calling.
He brought the receiver closer to his ear, slightly adjusted his emotions, and asked, "What’s up?"
"Brother Jasper, I’m going back to school this afternoon. Do you have time to send me?"
"The housekeeper will arrange for a driver." Jasper’s response was uncharacteristically cold; previously, he would have said a few more words.
"But I don’t want a driver to send me, you return..."
Before Peach Bell finished her sentence, the receiver emitted a beeping busy tone.
Jasper no longer concerned himself with Peach Bell’s trivial matters; work and emotions had already stretched him thin, leaving other arrangements to the housekeeper.
Evening.
He returned to The Sinclair Residence reeking of alcohol, discovering that Peach Bell hadn’t gone to school.
"Brother Jasper, you smell so strongly of alcohol, how much did you drink?"
Peach Bell’s eyes were nearly closed from the fumes, but she patiently helped Jasper upstairs.
As they reached the staircase corner, Jasper belatedly reacted, asking, "Why didn’t you go back to school?"
His tone carried a strong sense of oppression, which instantly flustered Peach Bell.
"I—I just wanted to wait for you to return and send me!"
"Go to your room; the housekeeper will send you tomorrow morning."
Peach Bell didn’t move, seeming to sulk.
"Go to your room; I don’t want to repeat myself a third time." This time, Jasper’s tone was colder, nearly scolding.
Peach Bell snorted heavily and ran back to her room.
Elsewhere.
Nora confidently told Lily Sloan, "We’ll definitely secure the collaboration with Elie!"
Compared to the collaboration, Lily was more interested in what Jasper said when he pursued her.
With a chubby face full of gossip expressions, "Director Sinclair helped us today—does he not want to divorce you?"
"It’s not up to him whether we divorce or not. Next time, keep your distance from him; otherwise, you might count the money he gets from selling you."
Lily kept pursing her lips, unable to extract any gossip from Nora’s mouth.
"Go tidy up your work; it’s almost time to get off."
Lily left, and Megan Underwood entered right afterward.
"Nora, take a look at this fragrance competition information." Megan said while handing over the materials.
She couldn’t control her strength for a moment, causing several contestants’ information to arc in a parabolic trajectory, landing on the ground.
