Chapter 544: Give Me a Little More Time
Chapter 544: Give Me a Little More Time
It’s been a month, but Nora Northwood still wasn’t ready to reconcile with Elaine.
She hesitantly said, "Please give me a little more time."
"Alright."
Elaine silently comforted herself, thinking that having waited over twenty years, a couple more days wouldn’t make a difference.
The next day.
Private party.
Jasper Sinclair chose a quiet spot, playing with the wineglass in his hand, while listening to Louis Hayes murmuring about the latest happenings in their circle.
His mind wasn’t focused on this at all; he was pondering whether he would run into Nora, only to think that his idea was absurd since she probably couldn’t get a ticket.
Since they parted at The Sinclair Residence, they hadn’t seen each other for over half a month.
Jasper Sinclair was still in disbelief that Nora could really be so resolute!
While he was absorbed in painful reflection, the person he had been pining for was walking gracefully toward the center of the party, arm in arm with Elaine.
Nora was dressed in a champagne-colored satin gown, her figure elegant, with fair, tender calves that peeked out enigmatically from under the swaying hem, the clickety-clack of stiletto heels tapping continuously beneath her feet.
Louis Hayes, ever observant, was the first to notice the stunning, enchanting figure.
He reminded, "Director Sinclair, your wife and Master Elaine are up ahead, shall we go over and say hello?"
Following Louis’ gaze toward the center, Jasper momentarily froze, his grip on the wineglass tightening unconsciously.
In the past half month, he’d attended no fewer than five parties, each time hoping to catch a glimpse of Nora, only to be met with disappointment again and again, nearly ready to abandon such a lowly endeavor.
Amidst the dazzling lights, all he saw was her gleaming teeth and bright red lips.
Momentarily flustered, Jasper replied, "Let’s hold on for a bit; what were you saying just now? Go on."
Louis, well aware of his boss’s mood, could only continue with the earlier conversation.
Soon, it was time for the opening dance.
Jasper concealed himself in a corner, with the sole aim of stretching the time until the opening dance!
He scanned the crowd again for that graceful figure, only to find her standing next to another man.
Vincent Morgan had a champagne-colored bow tie beneath his Adam’s apple, subtly suggestive.
Seeing this, Louis could clearly sense the change beside him, like a glacier melting into despair, with an aura of bitter coldness all around.
He thought he shouldn’t have pointed it out... but, alas, it was too late.
"Director Sinclair, perhaps it’s just a coincidence," Louis awkwardly laughed, not believing his own words, much less someone as perceptive as Jasper Sinclair.
Countless words were drowned out by music as exquisite as pearls, mingled with the composer’s delicate emotions.
It was meant to be an uplifting melody, yet Jasper Sinclair pressed his lips tightly, eyes dim, as he fixated on the person dancing gracefully with Vincent Morgan in the dance floor.
The light from the crystal chandelier crystallized upon Nora, making her even more charming and captivating, every smile and gesture tugging at the heartstrings of all the men present, making it impossible to look away.
Jasper was on the verge of losing control, fearing that he might rush forward and act in an unseemly manner, so he told Louis, "Let’s get some air outside."
In his high position, he had his constraints.
The dance ended.
Nora and Vincent emerged from the dance floor, each flanking Elaine, who jokingly said, "Nora, you’re really improving at dancing, did you hire a private instructor?"
