Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk

Chapter 338: The Lunar Shrine

Chapter 338: The Lunar Shrine

After getting into the car, Nora Northwood glanced at her phone again.

Finnian Lawrence had only a brief two-word reply for her: Thank you.

With that, Nora’s worried mind could finally be at ease. She guessed that what she wanted to convey had been understood.

Playing the role of the good person wasn’t too bad at all. She touched her ear, vaguely feeling the pulse of her blood vessels.

"Turn off the music." Jasper Sinclair ordered emotionlessly.

A few seconds after his words fell, the music abruptly stopped. He continued, "Report on the CEO’s office situation and Liam Jacobs’ movements."

What followed was the dry and tedious work report.

Nora couldn’t quite grasp its contents, so she gazed out the window at the scenery out of boredom. On the way back, which was quite a distance, she saw a very old building, with strings of replica copper coins hanging around its walls.

At her ear, Louis Hayes’ words took a turn.

"Liam Jacobs has been visiting the CEO’s office more frequently and has gotten closer to Lila. They’ve even had a private coffee meeting once. According to the private detective, he hasn’t been in contact with Rachel Woodward recently."

Lila is a very capable person, and one could say that she was promoted single-handedly by Jasper Sinclair, making it impossible for her to betray the CEO’s office.

"Give Lila a hint; let her have more contact with Liam Jacobs. It’s best if she can extract some useful information."

"Understood."

Nora shivered while listening on the side; she thought: The world of business is truly complicated.

She never expected that one day, years later, she would also become a bona fide businesswoman.

The journey ended with the report, and the car smoothly drove into the underground parking lot of Southwood Court.

"Drive the car away; bring it back to the company tomorrow."

It has to be said, Jasper Sinclair still had a hint of a conscience as a boss, albeit not much.

...

Lily Sloan’s birthday coincided with a fair.

Perhaps because they were of age, these young people chose to offer incense between work and study.

After her family celebration, Lily Sloan secretly slipped away to find Nora Northwood.

"I heard the Lunar Shrine is particularly lively today. Let’s go have a look."

"Lily, you don’t want to visit the Lunar Shrine for marriage, do you?"

Looking at her friend, Nora knew it truly was the age for talking about marriage. She had been married for almost a year, yet Lily Sloan was still single.

With this thought, she brought her friend to the entrance of the Lunar Shrine.

Standing at the entrance, they gazed at the lights atop the mountain. Before taking a step forward, Lily gave up, "Nora, let’s forget it. It seems the Lunar Shrine doesn’t really want me there."

She roughly calculated that the time it took to reach the Lunar Shrine could be used to sing more than ten songs at KTV.

"Don’t give up halfway; especially when it comes to seeking marriage. If the Lunar God isn’t pleased, what if he sends you a dud?"

Nora bluffed her with a few words, and Lily Sloan, wanting to get a tall, rich, and handsome husband, decided to forge ahead in one go.

She thought that climbing all the way up this mountain would lead to a good outcome.

Breathlessly, the two of them climbed to the top. Few had truly arrived at the Lunar Shrine, and by the time they saw the Lunar God, they were too exhausted to feel like praying.

Lily Sloan patted her chest, beckoning to Nora, "I’m done for; looks like I’ll have no destiny with men in this life."

Nora sat on a stone bench beside her, panting heavily.

"I’m done too. Lucky I got married early."
