Chapter 331: Seminar
Chapter 331: Seminar
Before long, the bowls of noodles for the two of them were brought over by the waiter.
Jasper Sinclair leisurely opened his chopsticks, explaining to her: "Used a little trick. If she doesn’t show up, the outcome will be worse for her. She’s a self-interested person, capable of doing anything to preserve her own reputation."
As for the specific methods, he didn’t go into detail, and Nora Northwood didn’t press for more, just pursed her lips, "Seems like you know Jade Lockwood quite well."
"I know you the best."
Nora lowered her head to eat her noodles, but her lively black eyes were darting around.
After breakfast, Jasper dropped her off at the VK building downstairs.
"I’ll pick you up tonight."
"No need tonight. I need to get home early. Forgot to tell you, I’m going out of town for a seminar tomorrow, for three days. You’ll have to keep the empty house company for a while."
This news came rather suddenly for Jasper. "When was this decided?"
"Two weeks ago."
"What time tomorrow? I can take you."
Nora hesitated for a moment, glanced at Jasper’s shirt collar, and lowered her voice slightly, "No need to take me. I’m going with Finnian Lawrence. He’s attending too."
Jasper’s hands tightened abruptly around the steering wheel, his knuckles gradually turning white.
He silently chanted to himself: Don’t be jealous, don’t get upset!
"Tell me your flight details, and I’ll pick you up when you return."
"Alright, I’ll send it to your phone later."
Nora’s gaze shifted to his hand, noticing the faintly visible veins.
Before getting out of the car, she pecked him on the corner of his mouth, "Remember to miss me."
The man’s lips were slightly cool, with a touch like cold jade.
After parting, Nora’s phone began vibrating intermittently. She waited until she was inside the mall to check it.
Outside, the sun was shining brightly, but the phone’s brightness wasn’t enough.
After unlocking it, she saw a message from Finnian Lawrence reminding her to remember to pack her things tonight.
Nora replied with an OK emoji and then tucked her phone back into her pocket.
"Megan, I’ll be out of town for a seminar. Please take care of things for these few days."
"Go attend with peace of mind. We’ve got the studio covered."
After handling a few important matters, Nora dove headfirst into the fragrance lab.
"Sandalwood, Autumn Pear, Osmanthus essence..." She scribbled a dozen different fragrance names in her notebook.
She wanted to design a new product but found herself drained of inspiration, unable to think of a better formula.
The alarm went off, cutting through the little bit of thought she had in her mind.
Before dusk, Nora left work early.
At the end of March, the crabapple blossoms were in bloom, and the afternoon breeze was mixed with a faint floral fragrance.
As usual, she took a ride-share back to Southwood Court, quickly packing a few clothes.
It was only after she finished packing that she realized she had come back early.
Finding staying idle tedious, she changed the bedsheet at home for a new one. After finishing this, she collapsed onto the bed, exhausted.
The scent of the laundry detergent lingered between her nostrils, and she slowly recited: "Lavender, Magnolia..." It was a fragrance recipe, a sign that she was soaking up her work from the fragrance lab.
The next day, at 10 a.m., Nora and Finnian planned to meet at the airport terminal.
Outside, a gentle drizzle was falling, and the sky had lost its original color, turning somewhat grey.
On the way, she received a message from Jasper Sinclair: "With this bad weather, hopefully the flight won’t be delayed."
