Chapter 322: Invitation Letter
Chapter 322: Invitation Letter
Inexplicably, Jasper Sinclair felt like he’d gone back to a bygone era.
He patted Nora Northwood’s head, his cold, white fingers threading through her fine, soft hair, creating a striking black and white contrast.
Before either of them had changed their shoes, Jasper gathered her into his arms, his alluring voice ringing out: "Nora, you’ve neglected me for too long."
Nora’s bag slipped from her hand to the ground with a "bang", and she had no time to pick it up; instead, her hand rested on Jasper’s chest, keeping a slight distance between them.
"There’s a lot of work-related stuff that needs handling." It was an excuse, and a flimsy one at that.
Jasper gazed at her slightly thinned lips for a few seconds, then leaned in for a kiss.
Though Nora didn’t respond enthusiastically, she didn’t resist either.
It wasn’t until Jasper’s hands began to wander further down that she stepped back slightly.
"I’m a bit tired, want to rest first."
Nora’s back pressed against the wall, the coldness making her gasp softly.
Just like that, Jasper watched helplessly as she slipped away from his grasp.
He sighed silently, frustration welling up within him.
The next day.
Nora received an invitation from Yuna Hughes, the reason being the launch of a new brand.
The party was held at a hotel, with most of the guests being perfumers from the circle, and a few high-class celebrities, but not many.
After all, Yuna’s standing was rather limited.
...
Nora had gone for a full makeover today, altering her usual innocent look.
The bright red evening dress accentuated the porcelain whiteness of her skin, offering an entirely different allure.
As soon as she appeared, many people flocked around her; who wouldn’t want to cozy up to the wife of The Sinclair Group’s president?
Some flattered her, while others subtly probed for information.
Nora responded with little interest, but even so, she maintained a smile on her face.
Before long, Yuna approached her, "Do you know why I invited you here today?"
"Go ahead, tell me."
Nora couldn’t be bothered to guess Yuna’s intentions; she was used to this kind of interaction.
"I want to show you how I’m going to step over you!"
"All right, I’ll do my best."
"You’ve basked in glory for too long; your good days are about to end."
Yuna’s tone was exceedingly arrogant, paired with her puffed-up princess dress, she resembled an overbearing heiress.
Nora calmly gazed at her, a faint smile playing at the corners of her mouth, "Miss Hughes should also realize soon that my good days aren’t ending, and the scale of VK will continue to expand."
"We’ll see. I hope you won’t be begging me in tears then, to leave a way out for your little workshop."
Despite multiple failures, Yuna maintained an inexplicable confidence in herself.
Perhaps she had heard too many compliments earlier on, she was always unwilling to admit her inferiority in skill.
After that, she went to mingle with other guests, leaving Nora on the sidelines.
Nora chatted with a few familiar friends from the circle for a while, then roamed around the event, observing several of Yuna’s original works, and felt quite a bit.
Given her impression and evaluation of Yuna, this time the scented candles indeed had something noteworthy about them.
In the end, it truly stirred a sense of threat within Nora.
It seemed that once this party ended, she would need to continue honing her skills.
There’s always someone better; she firmly believed in this saying.
Midway, Nora headed to the restroom.
