Chapter 319: Reconciliation
Chapter 319: Reconciliation
VIP ward.
Jasper Sinclair gently placed her onto the hospital bed and adjusted it to the right height.
He watched Nora Northwood, his gaze deep and penetrating.
"Nora, you’ve suffered during this time."
The man’s hands fell on Nora Northwood’s thin shoulders, which felt a bit bony. Her face visibly had gotten slimmer over the days she stayed in the hospital, maintained only by intravenous nutrition.
"It’s just like taking a break, thank you for taking care of me."
Nora Northwood’s tone carried a faint sense of detachment. She was still very clear about the events that occurred before the car accident, not forgetting even a single word.
"I apologize for that day, I drank too much and talked without thinking. I hope you don’t take it to heart. If you’re upset, you can hit me, just make sure to get it out."
"They say the truth comes out when you’re drunk. I think I need to reassess this relationship."
Nora Northwood’s words held a hint of defiance.
Jasper Sinclair raised his hand and gently caressed the area around her brow. There, a healing scar could be seen if inspected closely, a mark left by the car accident.
Since waking, she had been quiet, more serene than ever.
Yet it was this serenity that unsettled Jasper Sinclair greatly.
He spoke again, his voice slightly hoarse, "Nora, tell me what I should do to be forgiven."
Nora Northwood felt the apology lacked sincerity, leaving her unsure of her next step, so she simply closed her eyes and chose to ignore everything.
The sudden indifference left Jasper even more at a loss.
After a brief standoff, Jasper Sinclair pulled a document from the manila envelope in his briefcase.
Within minutes, Nora Northwood felt a piece of paper and the man’s distinctive warmth placed into her hand, transmitting to her.
"Nora, this is the real estate project with Diana Kidd. I originally wanted to surprise you with it on our first wedding anniversary."
After hearing this, Nora Northwood’s fingertips twitched slightly.
Seeing her moved, Jasper Sinclair continued, "I know you want to create an independent brand and strengthen VK, so I’ve chosen a prime location for VK’s headquarters. In the future, Stanton City’s business district will have your place."
He spoke earnestly, not joking at all, especially with that last sentence.
As if a feather fluttering, tempting Nora Northwood to open her eyes and take a look.
Seeing her still unmoving, Jasper Sinclair was left helpless.
All he could do was resort to a "trick" he’d learned online, misleadingly saying, "Nora, there’s, there’s a mouse!"
At this point, Nora Northwood couldn’t help but let out a chuckle.
"Jasper Sinclair, you’re so childish."
A room costing tens of thousands a month having mice would make this hospital unable to continue operating.
Besides, Nora Northwood lived in a small warehouse for over a decade, having faced harsh environments. Mice were nothing; she even chased them away as a child.
"Honey, you laughed." Jasper Sinclair said awkwardly.
Though not as good as anticipated, he finally saw a new expression from Nora Northwood.
She said, "Next time, try something new; this trick isn’t clever at all."
"There won’t be a next time, honey."
Under Jasper Sinclair’s coaxing, Nora Northwood went through the entire project proposal.
"Sign your name."
He had already prepared the pen in advance, but Nora Northwood refused, saying, "Seven parts surprise, three parts joy, thank you for being willing to give me this gift, but it’s too precious."
