Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk

Chapter 312: Bullied

Chapter 312: Bullied

"Seems like yesterday it was quite lively here. If my mother hadn’t insisted on keeping me at home, I would have come over for the New Year’s Eve dinner like every other year."

Rachel Woodward spoke with great conversational skill.

In others’ ears, it seemed like her relationship with the Sinclair Family was quite good, being able to join in the excitement on such an important day.

Nora Northwood feigned a smile, "It’s almost dinner time. Miss Woodward, you’re welcome to stay and enjoy the lively company today."

Mid-conversation, Grandma Sinclair emerged from the bedroom.

Rachel, having a more important target now, stopped engaging with Nora in trivial talks and directly went to support Grandma Sinclair’s arm, "Grandma Sinclair, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen you. I’m here to wish you a Happy New Year today!"

Her attitude changed dramatically.

Nora, taking advantage of nobody noticing her at that moment, discreetly took out her phone to send Jasper Sinclair a message, reminding him: "It’s time to come home."

She waited until everyone was seated at the dining table, but she saw no sign of the man and didn’t receive any reply.

With no other option, Nora had to face the whole family alone.

During the meal, Rachel Woodward sat directly opposite her and with Lynn Woodward, their mouths didn’t stop the entire time, catching plenty of attention from Grandma Sinclair.

The second family intentionally brought up childhood stories of Jasper Sinclair, and Rachel got involved too.

Nora listened quietly, unable to get a word in.

She inevitably felt a sense of loss.

Even the gourmet dishes in front of her didn’t stir her appetite.

That night.

Jasper Sinclair returned at 10 PM, reeking of alcohol.

"Jasper Sinclair, why are you coming back so late?"

Nora’s tone didn’t sound very pleasant. She rarely shouted or called his full name. Considering their time together, this was indeed the first time.

Jasper, used to a high position for so long, hadn’t encountered anyone bold enough to speak to him like this except for the elders in his family.

Having drunk, he momentarily lost control of his emotions and replied coldly: "Just late a bit, that’s all."

"You clearly promised me you’d come back early to have dinner with me, why can’t you keep your word?"

Mentioning dinner, Nora felt a twinge of bitterness in her heart.

"It’s not like I fail every time. I also need a bit of freedom, alright, Nora?"

Nora had never seen this side of Jasper, even more unfamiliar than when they first met.

She sniffed defiantly and said, "If you need freedom, then just stay here alone."

After speaking, she turned and walked out the door.

"Bang—"

It wasn’t until the door slammed shut that Jasper’s mind cleared slightly, and he rubbed his temples, regretting the harsh words he just uttered.

Soon after, he put on his coat again and chased after her.

Outside.

The moon and lanterns accompanied each other, illuminating the entire estate, guiding people on their way forward.

It’s often said that when girls get angry, not even ten oxen can pull them back. In the blink of an eye, Nora had already crossed the threshold.

Jasper urgently searched for her, only to witness a scene he’d regret for a lifetime.

"Nora—"

A scream tore through the night sky.

Nora barely had time to turn around before her petite figure was hit and flung by an oncoming sedan.

From a distance, she lay in a pool of blood, without a trace of life.
