Chapter 310: New Year’s Eve
Chapter 310: New Year’s Eve
"Once New Year’s Eve has passed, I’ll have Rachel find some time to come visit and pay her respects to the old lady."
"Paying respects is fine, but don’t do anything that will upset Grandma."
After the Spring Festival, it’s naturally a time to visit relatives. Jenson Sinclair knew he couldn’t stop his mother’s decisions, so he simply let her be.
The atmosphere of the New Year grew even more intense, with red lanterns hung all around the old house, exuding festivity everywhere.
Jasper Sinclair and Nora Northwood also woke up early, ready to join the excitement outside.
Nora was about to change out of her pajamas when she noticed someone staring intently at her.
She immediately stopped what she was doing, "Turn around, I need to change clothes."
"Honey, we’ve been married for almost a year, and you’re still shy." Jasper found her even more adorable.
"But you shouldn’t stare at me like that."
Perhaps because she had just woken up, Nora’s tone sounded very coy.
"Let me help you change."
Saying that, Jasper’s hand reached over.
His fingertips touched Nora’s skin, sending a shiver through her body.
Nora pushed him away, "Forget it, I’ll do it myself."
Jasper, having just gotten a taste of sweetness, couldn’t let it go, so the two of them lingered in the bedroom for quite a while.
When they finally came out, it was already nine o’clock.
Grandma Sinclair was in the living room wrapping red envelopes, and when she saw Nora come out with a flushed face, she couldn’t help but grin widely.
"Nora, are you hungry? Did you sleep well last night?"
"Slept very well, I just had a cup of hot milk in the room, thank you Grandma for your concern."
Nora chatted with Grandma for a while, then went into the kitchen, curious to see how a wealthy family’s New Year’s Eve dinner differed from a regular family’s.
As soon as she stepped in, she was stunned.
Such grandeur – calling it a Manchu-Han Imperial Feast would not be an exaggeration. She had only seen such a scene on television.
Nora swallowed hard and stepped back out.
Afterwards, she stood on the balcony for a bit. Ever since the little snowfall ended, the temperature in Stanton City began to rise.
She wore only a thin knitted dress and didn’t feel cold standing outside.
Hearing footsteps approaching from behind, she instinctively thought it was Jasper.
Nora smiled and turned around to meet him.
But when they were just a step away, she abruptly stopped, and the smile on her face vanished, replaced by visible awkwardness.
"Cou... Cousin."
"Cousin-in-law seems eager for a hug; did you mistake me for someone else?" Jenson Sinclair seized every opportunity to tease her.
"Sorry, I thought you were Jasper."
While speaking, Nora took two small steps back, restoring the distance between them to a normal social gap.
"No need to apologize, we’re all family. I saw you standing here alone and thought you were upset."
"No, just wanted to appreciate the view of the back garden."
"That’s good. If there’s anything troubling you or if you encounter any difficulties in life, you can come to me for help."
Jenson believed he was exuding charm, but to Nora, he seemed full of schemes.
Of course, the persona he crafted was still that of a genteel gentleman.
As he said, we’re all family as long as nothing too untoward is done; on the surface, harmony should be maintained.
Nora didn’t want to stay under the same roof with him, so she found an excuse and left the balcony.
