Chapter 295: I Don’t Like Her
Chapter 295: I Don’t Like Her
Nora Northwood had been recuperating at home for a while, due to a cold.
Seeing as it was already the end of December, staying at home was unbearably boring, so she decided to go to The Sinclair Group.
The Sinclair Group was located in the most bustling district of Stanton City, where every corner radiated opulence and luxury.
Nora didn’t linger and headed straight to Jasper Sinclair’s office.
The man in front of the desk was discussing business.
From Nora’s angle, she could see his sharp and well-defined jawline.
This face was just excessively handsome.
Unfortunately, sitting across from him was a rather unlikable woman.
Nora had already found out from Louis Hayes who she was—someone from the political circle with some influence, named Diana Kidd.
The name sounded just like that of a strong, independent woman.
The moment the rightful wife arrived, Diana Kidd leaned forward quite a bit more, trying to close the distance between her and Jasper Sinclair, exuding a somewhat provocative challenge.
As for Nora, sitting on the sidelines, she could only turn her head and look out the window.
As they say: out of sight, out of mind.
By the time their business discussion was over, Nora was almost asleep.
Before leaving, Diana Kidd cast a subtle glance in her direction.
"Honey, sorry to keep you waiting."
Jasper Sinclair loosened his tie and naturally sat down beside Nora.
"So President Sinclair still remembers my existence!" Nora joked with a smile.
"How could I forget? I just wanted to finish quickly to hug you." Jasper said this and did just that.
He inhaled the light, rich fragrance from Nora, and it relaxed him quite a bit.
The perfume on Diana Kidd was giving him a headache.
After a moment of silence, Nora said, "I don’t like this woman. Could you keep a distance from her next time?"
As a woman herself, how could she not pick up on Diana Kidd’s little intentions?
Having been with Jasper Sinclair for almost a year, this was the first time she so openly expressed her dislike for someone.
Jasper lifted his head, seeming to be considering something, and then, under Nora’s gaze, he seriously said, "This project is already in the final stages. I’ll have Louis Hayes handle the rest, and try to do as you asked, alright, honey?"
Seeing that his attitude was fairly sincere, Nora agreed, "Alright."
"It’s almost New Year’s. Do you want to go back to the old family house with me?"
Mentioning the New Year, Nora’s eyes flashed momentarily.
She hid her emotions well, to the point that Jasper didn’t notice anything amiss.
She said, "There’s still two months until the New Year; we can discuss it later."
The day before New Year’s Day.
Jasper Sinclair decided last-minute to go on a business trip out of town, planning to return to Stanton City in three days.
The news was so sudden that Nora had no time to prepare, disrupting their holiday plans.
Jasper left Southwood Court in such a hurry that Nora was still adjusting to it; the empty room was left with just her alone.
Outside, fireworks and firecrackers were going off in a series, yet Nora was all by herself; even humorous variety shows failed to lift her spirits.
Bored, she was scrolling through short videos and suddenly came across a long-distance couple.
Instantly, she had an idea.
Nora bought the earliest high-speed train ticket, planning to give Jasper a surprise.
Spending the first day of the New Year apart from each other was not a good omen for them.
Time was tight, so Nora didn’t bring anything along; she only wore a wind-resistant coat and headed out.
