Chapter 926 - 925: Charles Northwood, Save Me, Save Me!
Time slipped by, and in the blink of an eye it was already early the next morning. Nia Mitchell jolted awake from her sleep and rubbed her eyes. She was still lying on the sofa in the Living Room, and over by the Entrance Hall, the CEO’s slippers were still there.
He hadn’t come back.
Nia’s face was deathly pale, exceptionally haggard.
She picked up her phone. No missed calls.
Which meant that after Mom went to the Royal Dynasty Hotel yesterday, she still hadn’t called back.
What did that mean?
Did it mean this whole thing was actually true?
She sat there weakly, rubbed her face, then got up from the sofa and walked straight out of the mid-levels Villa.
Outside, the sky was barely light, the wind carried mist, everything was hazy.
Grabbing the car keys from the Entrance Hall, she headed straight to the garage, got into a Maybach, and drove away.
She was supposed to report to Star Media today, but in this situation, there was no way she could calm down enough to go to work.
What she didn’t know was that as she drove off, a car quietly pulled out and followed her.
Trailing her all the way.
Nia’s mind was a mess, so of course she didn’t notice. After she drove down the mountain, that car suddenly did a high-speed drift and cut in right in front of her.
"Screeeeeech——"
The screech of the brakes tore through the whole road. Nia sat in the driver’s seat, heart still pounding in fear, staring ahead.
Thank God she hadn’t crashed into them, or the consequences would have been unimaginable.
In an instant, anger flooded her face. She yanked the door open and strode over.
"What the hell is wrong with you? Do you even know how to drive?"
Nia shouted. She was already in a foul mood, nowhere near calm.
If she hadn’t slammed on the brakes in time just now, she would’ve hit them for sure!
"What’s wrong with the way we drive?"
The black car’s doors opened, and three tall, heavily muscled men climbed out.
Nia frowned, froze for a second, then looked at the three men in front of her, every alarm bell in her head blaring.
She backed up step by step until she was by her own car.
"You blocked my car on purpose, didn’t you?"
Nia forced herself to muster up some courage and speak, partly to stall for time.
The three men looked at the petite girl in front of them and clearly didn’t take her seriously at all.
"Of course it was on purpose."
Nia bit her lip, seizing on the fact that there was still some distance between them.
She yanked the car door open, dove inside, and slammed it shut, locking it in one motion.
"Bang, bang, bang!"
The three men hadn’t expected Nia to move so fast. By the time they rushed up, she had already locked the doors.
Nia’s face was full of terror, her whole body trembling with fear. She immediately grabbed her phone from the side.
Her first instinct was to call Maxwell Peary.
"Beeep——beeep——beeep——"
Pick up the phone!
Maxwell Peary, pick up the damn phone!
Nia sat there, frantic, staring in fear at the three men outside, their faces twisted and vicious.
Her whole body was shaking, and her tears just started to fall, splattering down.
One drop, two drops.
Time dragged on and on, as if a century were crawling past.
On the other end, no one ever picked up.
Nia’s face was stricken with fear. Her fingertips trembled as she looked up and saw one of the men go to their car and grab a hammer.
She clenched both fists hard, tears pooling in her eyes until the phone screen turned into a blur.
She scrubbed at her tears with force, finally managing to find Charles Northwood’s number.
"Beeep——beeep——beeep——"
Seeing that man already walking over with the hammer, Nia shook her head, shrinking back to one side in terror.
"Hello?"
On the other end, Charles Northwood was still half-asleep, his voice low and hoarse.
"Charles Northwood! Charles, help me! Help me!"
