Chapter 898 - 897: Uncle, I Want to Get Up

This kind of behavior isn’t good at all.Even though her identity was clear here, others didn’t know who she was.

Even as Maxwell Peary’s wife, she couldn’t just act like this.

She knew that although none of the employees at the Company said anything openly, who knew what they gossiped about behind her back?

She understood those people quite well; they certainly wouldn’t speak kindly of her.

Nia Mitchell pouted. Unless it was absolutely necessary, she really didn’t want to skip work right now.

"Just stay home and be good, okay?"

Maxwell Peary gently rubbed her forehead and then casually ran his hand through her hair a few more times before lying down beside her.

"Get some rest."

Lowering his head, he noticed her slightly open collar, covered in kiss marks.

Whenever Maxwell thought about how she looked at noon today, he couldn’t bring himself to do anything more tonight.

So, it was better just to sleep.

This way, it was peaceful, and the two could still connect emotionally.

"Alright, but I still want to go to work early."

Nia Mitchell obediently settled down and then closed her eyes.

Maxwell didn’t say anything further, just nodded, then after reading for a bit, he lowered his head and saw little Rabina sleeping peacefully.

How tired was she?

She fell asleep in such a short time.

...

The next day—

When the CEO got up, Nia Mitchell woke up too, following suit by sitting up.

"Did I wake you?"

Maxwell Peary frowned slightly, glancing out the window, noticing it was still early.

He planned to handle some matters first, which was why he got up so early.

"No, I woke up on my own."

Nia Mitchell mumbled groggily, reaching up to rub her hair.

She had slept too much yesterday, and went to bed early, so naturally, she couldn’t stay asleep this morning.

"Do I need to get up, or does Uncle have to get up too?"

Nia Mitchell tried to open her eyes wide, letting out a big yawn.

"You hardly look like you’re truly awake. Sleep a bit more, since you don’t have to go to work today."

As she didn’t have to work, sleeping a bit longer made perfect sense.

Nia Mitchell shook her head. No, it wouldn’t do. Her mother-in-law was here, so if she stayed in bed, it would look bad.

Although her mother-in-law appeared very kind and approachable, that wasn’t an excuse for her to lack propriety.

Sleeping in would leave a bad impression on others.

Honestly, Nia Mitchell really cared about the image she had in Silvia Waterborne’s heart.

Aside from being her childhood idol, just the fact that she was the CEO’s mother was...

"It’s okay, sleep a bit more, or I’ll get upset."

Maxwell Peary furrowed his eyebrows, gently pushing her back down, then he leaned over to plant a kiss on her forehead.

"I’m heading out first. I’ll call you when it’s time for breakfast."

After reminding her, Maxwell swiftly dressed and left.

Avoiding disturbing Nia’s rest, he decided to head to the Guest Room to wash up.

Nia lay in bed, having no choice but to rest a bit more and continue sleeping.

...

Time passed quickly; the CEO didn’t call her to get up for breakfast, and by the time she awoke and went downstairs, he was already preparing to leave.

Nia stood there, puffing her cheeks, looking quite upset.

Maxwell Peary turned his head and saw her, a faint smile appearing in his eyes.

"Awake?"

"Hmph!"

Nia turned her head away, not looking at him. Yet, she still walked up to him, fixing his slightly crooked tie with her hand.

"You promised to call me for breakfast."

Nia began to complain.
