"It’s too stuffy in this cave," An Jin said, glancing toward the entrance. "I want to go out for a walk."

"No! You can’t!"

The man roared hysterically. His previously docile expression twisted into something terrifying, his eyes blazing with a crazed fury. "You don’t love me! You want to run away! I won’t let you escape! You can only be mine!"

’Weren’t they supposed to be as meek as a lamb? The system’s product description was a complete lie.’

Seeing him glaring at her like a madman, his eyes bloodshot and crazed, An Jin pushed herself up against the wall and slowly got to her feet. She didn’t press the issue of going outside.

The silence in the air was terrifying. Chi’s ragged, suppressed breathing was clearly audible.

After a long moment, she pursed her lips and said softly, "I’m hungry. Can you go find something for me to eat? I won’t run away."

Chi’s expression gradually softened, but he watched her like a hawk, his gaze as intense as a viper’s, as if trying to gauge her sincerity. "You really won’t run?"

"Of course not. Look at me, I’m so hungry I can barely stand, and I’m covered in injuries. How could I possibly escape?" An Jin gathered some dry grass, spread it on the ground, and sat back down.

Chi gave her a hesitant look. Seeing the female curled up on the ground, clutching her stomach with both arms as if in pain, he finally relented and went out to hunt.

’He didn’t know why he had suddenly been filled with such a surging love for this female, but the feeling was a ferocious tide, making it impossible for him to control his actions.’

With the formidable combat power of an Eighth Rank Beastman, Chi returned in mere moments. He was dragging a Green-horned Beast behind him, its body coiled in his serpentine tail.

"Eat," he said, slashing the prey’s neck open with his sharp claws before shoving it toward her.

"I can’t eat raw meat," An Jin said. "I need fire. I want it cooked."

Chi refused instantly, his gaze turning chillingly sinister. "You’ll use the fire to burn me, so I won’t give you one. If you’re going to be with me, you’ll have to get used to eating raw meat!"

An Jin lowered her head, silent. She stared at the prey, its fur matted with blood. The thick, acrid stench of it filled her nostrils, and she fought the urge to vomit.

Then, she suddenly laughed.

’How ridiculous. How could she have ever thought this Snake Beast was anything like Gu Yin?’

’He couldn’t even compare to Gu Yin’s little finger!’

"...I’m not hungry anymore. Take it away." An Jin turned her head, leaned back against the wall, and wearily closed her eyes.

Chi eyed her doubtfully. Once he was certain she really wasn’t going to eat, he swallowed the entire carcass himself.

’His father had told him that females were selfish, duplicitous creatures that couldn’t be coddled. You had to force them into submission to control them forever!’

After finishing his meal, he rested in a corner to digest for a while. But deep in the night, he stirred and slithered toward the female nearby.

When she felt his coils tighten around her, and the undulating lower half of his tail press against her waist and abdomen, An Jin knew instantly what the Snake Beast wanted.

"I love you. You will mate with me and carry my offspring."

Chi’s voice was thick with arousal as he forced her down onto the ground.

An Jin was pinned powerfully in his grip. Sharp pain flared through her body. Weak from having not eaten all day, she had no strength to struggle free.

Chi shifted into his full Snake Beast form. His black-and-red head reared up, and his crimson, forked tongue flickered out, tasting the air over her body as if savoring her sweet, captivating scent.

The great snake drew closer, its questing tongue exploring more and more intimate places.

His previously gentle demeanor vanished in an instant. His eyes turned savage and cruel, and a surging killing intent poured off him in waves.

"You’re carrying another snake’s egg! How dare you lie to me!"

’What?’ An Jin’s heart seized with terror. Before she could even process his words, an immense pain tore through her abdomen. "Aaaah!" Large beads of cold sweat dripped from her face.

The black-and-red serpent lunged. Its sharp fangs, dripping venom, pierced straight through her abdomen.

"I love you! I love you so much! But you dared to deceive me!"

"Since you can’t carry my child, then you’re only fit to be my food and become one with me!"
