"It’s too stuffy in this cave. I want to go out for a walk." An Jin glanced toward the entrance.
"No! You can’t!"
The man roared hysterically. His previously gentle expression twisted into something terrifying, his eyes wild with a surging rage. "You don’t love me! You want to run away! I won’t let you escape! You can only be mine!"
’Wasn’t he supposed to be as docile as a lamb?’
’The System’s product description was false advertising.’
Seeing him glaring at her like a madman, his eyes bloodshot and crazed, An Jin braced a hand against the wall and slowly pushed herself to her feet. She didn’t insist on going out again.
The silence in the air was terrifying. Chi’s ragged, restrained breathing was clearly audible.
After a moment, she pursed her lips and said softly, "I’m hungry. Can you find me something to eat? I won’t run away."
Chi’s expression gradually relaxed, but he watched her like a viper, as if trying to gauge the sincerity of her words. "You really won’t run?"
"Of course not. Look at me, I’m so hungry I can barely stand. And I’m covered in injuries. How could I possibly escape?" An Jin gathered some dry grass, spread it on the ground, and sat back down.
Chi gave her a hesitant look.
Seeing the female curled up on the ground, clutching her stomach with both arms as if in pain, he finally relented and went out to hunt for prey.
He didn’t know why he had suddenly been overcome with such a torrent of love for this female, but the feeling was a tidal wave, making it impossible to control his actions.
He was mad with the desire to possess her.
He couldn’t control the urge to keep her penned in his territory until she bore him young. Perhaps it was just a male’s instinct at work.
Once Chi was gone, An Jin endured the searing pain wracking her body and made her way to the cave entrance. The moment she poked her head out, she was met by countless pairs of eyes, glinting eerily in the night.
A dense swarm of venomous snakes was gathered at the entrance. They were coiled menacingly, ready to strike, and all of them turned their heads in unison to look at her...

An Jin retreated back into the cave. Her only hope now was that Ling Hong and the others would find her soon. ’Twenty-four hours should be enough time.’
Drawing on the formidable combat prowess of an Eighth Rank Beastman, Chi returned in just a few moments, dragging a Green-horned Beast back to the cave, coiled in his snake-like tail.
"Eat," he said, ripping open the prey’s throat with his sharp claws and shoving it toward her.
"I can’t eat raw meat. I need a fire. I need it cooked."
Chi refused instantly, his gaze chilling and frightening. "You’ll use the fire to burn me, so I won’t give you one. If you’re going to be with me, you’ll have to get used to eating raw meat!"
An Jin lowered her head, saying nothing. She stared silently at the prey, its fur matted with blood. The thick, acrid stench of it filled her nostrils, and she fought the urge to vomit.
Then, she suddenly laughed.
’How ridiculous. How could I ever have thought this Snake Beast was anything like Gu Yin?’
’He isn’t worthy to be compared to even a single one of Gu Yin’s fingers!’
"...I’m not hungry anymore. Take it away." An Jin turned her head, leaned back against the wall, and wearily closed her eyes.
Chi eyed her with suspicion. When he was certain she really wasn’t going to eat, he swallowed the entire carcass himself.
’His father had said that females were selfish, duplicitous creatures that couldn’t be coddled. You had to force them into submission; only then could you control them forever!’
After finishing his meal, he lay in a corner to digest for a while. Later that night, he rose again and slithered toward the alluring female not far away.
An Jin felt his coils wrapping tightly around her body. The lower half of his tail, pressed against her waist and abdomen, began to swell and pulse, and she instantly understood what the Snake Beast wanted.
"I love you. You will mate with me and carry my offspring."
Chi’s voice was thick with lust as he forced her down onto the ground.
An Jin was pinned down forcefully, sending waves of pain through her. Having not eaten all day, her body was too weak to muster any strength. She was powerless to break free.
Chi transformed into his Snake Beast form. His black-and-red head reared up, his crimson tongue flicking out tentatively, tasting the air around her body as if to savor her sweet, enchanting scent.
The python drew closer, its scenting becoming more and more intimate.
His previously gentle demeanor vanished in an instant. His eyes turned savage and brutal, and a torrent of killing intent poured from him.
"You’re carrying another snake’s egg! How dare you deceive me!"
