Chapter 108 - 97: Plot Hodgepodge
Under the eaves hung plenty of salt-cured and smoked meats, as well as strings of corn cobs and chili peppers threaded on vines.
An Jin had to marvel at the Beastmen’s ingenuity. It was a solution even she hadn’t considered.
The tribe’s grain harvest was so large this year that the warehouses couldn’t hold it all. Their solution was to tie the surplus into bundles with vines or thin strips of beast hide and hang them under the eaves to dry. This not only extended their storage life but also made the food easy to grab whenever needed.
The passion and happiness overflowing throughout the tribe was something she had never seen back in the Luoten Tribe.
Pride swelled in An Jin’s heart. She was the one who had worked hard to lead these Beastmen to prosperity, freeing them from poverty and hunger.
She suddenly recalled that when she had split from the Luoten Tribe, its Clan Leader, Luoten, had roared with a savage expression that he would definitely return to subjugate her new tribe.
’More than half a year has passed with no sign of him. Knowing his petty and vengeful nature, who knows what he’s plotting.’
An Jin wasn’t afraid, though. ’If it really came down to a fight, who’s to say whether my tribe now or the Luoten Tribe back then would come out on top?’

After half a year of development, the tribe’s overall stats had all increased, and it had successfully joined the ranks of the more powerful medium-sized tribes in the vicinity.
The tribe’s population had its ups and downs. New cubs were born, new Beastmen migrated in, and of course, some Beastmen also left.
An Jin couldn’t help but think of Ling Hong again, her heart aching at the thought.
’It’s been half a year. He’s probably really gone for good.’
Some time ago, they had soaked and then dried the cocoons shed by the Water Giant Worms. This made it easy to peel off long threads, which could then be wound around a core to create balls of thread of various sizes.
The resulting silk thread was long and tough, with a naturally pure white color, making it perfect for sewing clothes.
An Jin sat on the bed, planning to weave a small piece of cloth to test out the thread. Mi Yin came over and wrapped her in an embrace, nuzzling his head into the crook of her neck. "What are you doing?"
"My hands are a little rusty. I’m just weaving to get some practice in," An Jin replied, her head lowered as she focused on her work without looking up.
But in her peripheral vision, she saw a black-and-red snake tail, over ten meters long, twitching on the floor before coiling around her ankle.
She was speechless. She knew exactly what he wanted. Swallowing hard, she felt her lower back begin to ache in anticipation.
She struggled out of Mi Yin’s embrace and shot to her feet, about to look for an excuse to bolt.
The next second, however, the snake tail hooked around her waist and pulled her back into the man’s arms.
"Jin’er, you haven’t spent time with me in so long."
Mi Yin snatched the needle and thread from her hands and tossed them to the floor, demanding she look only at him.
The man’s face was flushed as he held her tightly. He lowered his head to kiss and nuzzle against her, his thin lips brushing against An Jin’s ear as he whispered in a low, husky voice, "We haven’t... in so many days."
An Jin’s mind grew hazy from his kisses. When she managed to look up, her gaze met his deep, dark-red vertical pupils, which swirled with a misty haze of desire.
"Jin’er, I want you..."
His hands started to roam restlessly over her waist.
The tip of his tail also rubbed back and forth against her body. The flush on Mi Yin’s face deepened, and his breathing grew more rapid and heavy.
Mi Yin was clearly lost in a daze of passion, his mind no longer clear. He had completely surrendered his body to instinct...
They tussled for a while longer, and he finally managed to push her onto the bed. He had just removed two articles of her clothing when a Beastman’s shout suddenly came from outside the door. "Clan Leader, a Silver Wolf Beastman has arrived at the tribe!"
"I think it’s Lord Ling Hong!"
What?!
An Jin instantly snapped to her senses, her heart surging with joy and surprise. She scrambled back into her clothes and squirmed out of Mi Yin’s embrace, accidentally stepping on his snake tail in her haste to get free.
"HISS~" The tail slackened in pain, and without a moment to apologize, she seized the opportunity to scramble free from his hold and bolt for the door.
The instant her soft, warm body slipped from his grasp, Mi Yin’s hazy consciousness cleared. He scrambled to follow her. "Jin’er, where are you going?"
His breathing was still unsteady. He fought to suppress the languid, resentful edge in his voice, forcing his expression to remain calm and cool.
An Jin pulled on her beast-hide shoes and glanced back at him, saying urgently, "I’m going to go see! Ling Hong might be back!"
"..." The atmosphere around Mi Yin instantly plummeted, becoming chillingly cold.
His thin lips formed a tight line and his eyes glinted with hostility, but he said nothing, simply following after her.
Mi Yin was in a foul mood from being interrupted.
’Those Beastmen are completely clueless.’
’So, that Silver Wolf is really back? This is not good for me at all.’
