Chapter 155: Returning to the Black Plain City
Chapter 155: Returning to the Black Plain City
Feng Yun bid farewell and left Maple Leaf City.
This time, he concealed his presence when departing, but upon arriving in Black Plain City, he did the opposite. He entered openly and in a rather showy manner, making sure that people knew he had returned.
After entering the city, Feng Yun went straight to the shop and met with the Sword Saint.
Standing in front of the shop, Feng Yun felt a sense of satisfaction as he saw a steady stream of customers coming and going. Business was lively, and everything looked much the same as it had a few weeks ago when he left.
Soon, Feng Yun and the Sword Saint were seated inside a private chamber on the upper floor.
"So, how is your family?" the Sword Saint asked.
"Everything is good," Feng Yun replied, then asked in return, "How is the business?"
"It’s running smoothly," the Sword Saint said while sipping his tea. "You left enough stock to last for about a month. However, we are a little short on manpower. You should hire more people."
"I plan to recruit a few more soon," Feng Yun replied.
After a brief pause, Feng Yun asked, "What about the situation here? Any new information regarding the Blood Demon Cult or the hidden treasure?"
The Sword Saint shook his head. "The treasure is still a mystery. Many people are trying to investigate it, but no one has found any clues so far. The Blood Demon Cult is also searching for it."
He put down his cup and continued, "I have a theory. I don’t believe the treasure is actually hidden inside Black Plain City. If it truly were here and the Blood Demon Cult knew about it in advance, they would have taken it long ago. Why wait until now? And why has no one found it yet?"
Feng Yun listened quietly.
"I think the treasure is hidden inside a secret realm," the Sword Saint continued. "Not an ordinary one, but a special secret realm that only opens after a long interval."
"The opening of that secret realm should be approaching. That’s why the Blood Demon Cult is trying to control Black Plain City. They want the upper hand when the time comes so they can monopolise the secret realm."
"The cult likely knows about the existence of this secret realm," he said calmly, "but they cannot force it open. Only Great Emperor Realm cultivators can create secret realms or open them by force, after mastering the laws of time and space."
Feng Yun nodded and said, "So they can only wait for the secret realm to open on its own, then enter it to retrieve the treasure."
"Yes," the Sword Saint replied. "The Blood Demon Cult is willing to wait for decades, hiding in the shadows and planning carefully. That alone tells us the treasure is far from ordinary."
Feng Yun’s gaze deepened.
"Of course," the Sword Saint added, "this treasure must be significant to the cult. It may even be their chance to revive the Demonic Sects."
"I need to talk to Zhao Mingxi," Feng Yun said softly. "She must know something."
The Sword Saint nodded in agreement. "Zhao Mingxi... the princess of the Azure Dragon Empire. Yes, she is a good choice."
He thought for a moment before continuing. "Even if she doesn’t know the details herself, she should be able to find them. The Azure Dragon Empire has existed for countless years. Their imperial archives record things most forces have already forgotten."
"Especially matters related to ancient demonic sects," he added. "The Blood Demon Cult is not new. It may have disappeared from the surface, but its traces will certainly exist in the empire’s records."
Feng Yun nodded. "That’s what I was thinking. Relying on scattered rumours is not enough. I need something solid."
"You’re right," the Sword Saint said. "If we understand their origins and past failures, it will be much easier to predict their next move."
"Hm," Feng Yun replied simply. "I’ll ask her."
The Sword Saint looked at Feng Yun for a moment, then spoke again in a calmer tone.
"By the way," he said, "you don’t need to put too much pressure on yourself."
Feng Yun turned his gaze back to him.
"With me here," the Sword Saint continued, "you won’t be fighting alone. Black Plain City is not an isolated place, and the Blood Demon Cult is not an enemy you are facing."
He took a slow sip of tea before going on. "The cult has offended too many people over the years. Many powerful forces have suffered because of them. If the Blood Demon Cult truly intends to revive itself, it won’t go unnoticed."
"They will not be allowed to grow freely," the Sword Saint said firmly. "And I think the major forces might have already been eyeing the Blood Demon Cult. There must be a reason why they didn’t take action against the Blood Demon Cult."
"Yes, you are right. How could such a thing go unnoticed by the empires and great sects? They must have known but were waiting for an opportunity." Feng Yun had enlightenment; he smiled slowly and looked at the sword saint.
The sword saint read his expression and understood his thoughts.
"The secret realm!" Both of them spoke in unison.
"Yes, other forces also desire the treasure. They are waiting for the secret realm to open. So that is it." Feng Yun laughed. A treasure from ancient times, related to the Great Emperor Realm, everyone will go nuts to get it. Especially those top powers.
"This is why I said that you can relax and cultivate peacefully." The Sword Saint spoke with a soft smile.
Feng Yun remained silent for a moment, then nodded. "That’s true."
Next, Feng Yun restocked the inventory of the shop, hired a few more people, and remained busy for the whole day.
Evening...
Feng Yun was sitting in his office, reading the sales reports.
"Wow..." Feng Yun whistled in his happiness upon seeing the profits. Feng Yun decided to put the Blood Demon Cult aside for now; anyway, he was strong enough to take on the cult himself now.
At this time, he received a guest.
"Master Yun, you have a guest." A maid come to inform him.
"Who?"
"It’s Miss Hu Xian’er."
