Chapter 120 - 103: A Day as Master, a Lifetime as Mother (Part 3)
Fairy Wangshu had already stepped towards the courtyard ahead, and You Su quickly followed.
"Then why is it called ’Troubled Wind’?" You Su asked, puzzled.
"The Immortal Master said it’s one of the teachings of Immortal Ancestor Henggao; only by being grounded can one be free of troubles."
Hearing this, You Su smiled indifferently.
The closer they got to the courtyard, the more one could feel the intense Profound Qi within, almost like water, flowing around them like a gentle hand brushing against their body, bringing a mysterious and subtle sensation.
The courtyard had no walls or entrance sign, just four simple wooden huts. Apart from a peach tree planted in the center, there was nothing else noteworthy. Under the peach tree, a fairy in a white dress, with a mature yet cool demeanor, stood waiting gracefully.
"Master."
"Master."
The two greeted her respectively.
He Shutong nodded in response, "I remember you once said you obtained the learning qualification given by the Divine Mountain’s Immortal Master."
This was, of course, said to You Su. You Su nodded. Although Gu Yao had already passed away, the certificate he bestowed was still there, sufficient to prove his qualification.
"The status of a learning disciple doesn’t suit you; from today, you are my True Disciple. From now on, do not call me Master, call me Master."
Hearing this, You Su was stunned and finally asked, "Who exactly is Master?"
He Shutong glanced at him, as if saying ’you couldn’t resist asking first’, and calmly said:
"I am the Thirteenth Elder of the Profound Sky Sect, Lotus Peak’s Peak Master, Lotus Sword Venerable."
You Su’s eyes widened slightly. Although he had guessed, hearing the name of Venerable of the Void Realm was truly shocking. That such a figure was his Master and wanted to accept him as a True Disciple felt unreal.
Although Master and Master were cultivation partners, they belonged to different sects. If he became Master’s True Disciple, would that count as changing allegiances?
"You are unwilling?" He Shutong’s brows knitted slightly.
"I..." You Su was hesitant; he could easily choose between Gu Yao and his Master, but between Master and Master, he was struggling.
"If you worry about being disloyal to your Master, you need not." He Shutong put her hands behind her back, her two index fingers nervously entangled, "Before your Master left, he instructed me that if your Yuan Sword skills were proficient enough, you were free to seek a new master. I have also guided you; joining my tutelage is your best choice. Besides..."
"Besides what?"
"Besides, I also plan to accept your junior sister as a personal disciple; if you remain a learning disciple, you’ll have to leave in a year."
You Su had doubts about the instructions from his Master’s mouth, but this last sentence made him make a decision completely.
He straightened his attire, then crossed his hands over his chest and bowed deeply:
"From today, disciple You Su formally acknowledges Lotus Sword Venerable as my master. I vow to respect my master and adhere to the path of cultivation diligently. If ever in the future I commit acts of betrayal against my master..."
The latter part of the vow was left unsaid, as You Su knew Master’s trust in him meant he would never commit such acts, and so he was unwilling to continue saying it. He suddenly raised his head, and paid another more solemn salute, saying:
"Once a teacher, forever a mother! This disciple will honor and respect my Master, please accept me!"
The Lotus Sword Venerable looked at You Su, who was performing the formal salute, and for the first time, a faint smile appeared on her icy face, like the melting of spring snow.
She felt relieved in her heart; she wished to compensate You Su and finally took him as her disciple.
And upon hearing You Su’s words, "Once a teacher, forever a mother," her heart felt warmed, realizing the word "mother" was too great a title, and she had much more to learn. In treating her disciple, she knew she needed to learn to genuinely care.
