Chapter 224: Too Many Wrong Things 3

Chapter 224: Too Many Wrong Things 3

This was very important news. However, Soren could not help but look at Polystar strangely.

"Dude... why are you orange?" Soren asked.

He already knew Polystarchanged colors depending on the moment. Like that time he was orange qhen he became carrot man, or green when he was bathing under the sun.

Polystar massaged his temple a bit, "oh forget about that. I have something really important to show you.

Take a look."

Polystar pushed a button on his wristwatch and a holographic projection lit up in the air.

It was of the Nightmare creature. It had a feminine appearance with three

Heads. But its lower body was that of a snake.

Apparently, the team that seized the most cores win.

This method of winning was straight forward. But was no doubt highly competitive.

Polystar stated explained that these creatures enjoyed feeding on the soul of their prey through despair. And therefore continually engage the mind to feel happiness, and then seize it.

Soren sat with those words. "So how do we beat it?"

Polystar adjusted his glasses, "its quite easy. Once you identify the presence of the Nightmare creature, its hold on the mind weakens..."

.....

And that was what led to Soren’s current situation. [Check Chapter 203]

The creature moved, body rolling slowly—slithering in a way that was both inviting and dangerous.

Soren touched his ear again, using a sleeve to clean the goo spilling out of his ear.

He felt heavily disgusted, and that disgust fueled his rage.

"Come on..." the creature invited with a finger—voice echoing as its three heads spoke its will.

"Let me kiss back to sleep."

Soren’s grip tightened on his blade. Looking at the three-headed horror, he felt a strange pang of guilt.

He had a feeling that after witnessing this perversion of beauty and flesh, he might never look at Bloodshine—with her own snake-like traits—the same way again.

Forgive me for the comparison, Bloodshine, he thought grimly. But this thing needs to die.

The Nightmare Creature lunged, its three heads snapping forward like a cluster of vipers.

Soren didn’t retreat; he pivoted on his heel—

In one fluid motion, he reversed his grip on the dagger, the blade now tucked against his forearm for a tighter, more lethal arc.

He carved a jagged line through the creature’s midsection.

Slash.

The wound didn’t bleed red.

It hissed with that same vile green ichor.

All three heads recoiled simultaneously, astheir jaws unhinged in a synchronized snarl.

Suddenly, they spat—a spray of corrosive, acid-like bile hissed through the air.

Soren threw himself into a low roll, the acidic spray splashing against his wardrobe.

The wood sizzled and dissolved instantly, the smell of acrid smoke filling the cramped room.

"Too slow," Soren growled, springing from the floor.

The creature’s massive serpentine tail whipped around with the force of a falling tree, aiming to shatter his ribs.

Soren leaped, the scales grazing his feet as the tail smashed into his desk, sending splinters of wood flying like shrapnel.

Mid-air, Soren shifted his grip again, the dagger’s hilt now firm in a forward thrust.

He landed on the creature’s coiled back and drove the blade deep into the snake-flesh, anchoring himself.

The beast thrashed, the three heads flailing and shrieking in a discordant harmony of pain.

Soren pulled his blade free and vaulted toward the central torso. This was it.

He dropped his dagger, letting it dangle from its wrist strap, and channeled his soul energy into his palms.

As the three heads lunged for a final bite, Soren executed a precise, high-impact clap.

His palms slammed together directly over the central head with a thunderous crack.

The shockwave sent a concentrated vibration straight through the skull, instantky exploding the brain matter inside.

Because the three heads shared a single nervous system, the feedback was instantaneous.

The middle head and the head on yhe far right both stiffened, their eyes rolling back as their brains turned to mush from the internal pressure.

The massive creature slumped to the floor, the snake-like tail twitching once before going still.

Soren didn’t waste a second.

He retrieved his dagger and knelt over the central head, carving into the skull with clinical precision.

He reached in and pulled out the Core

—a pulsating, green-tinted gem that felt warm to the touch.

The room was a wreck—his wardrobe dissolved, his desk in splinters, and the floor slick with green bile.

But Soren’s mind was already elsewhere.

He turned to the remains of his belongings, grabbing his combat tunic—dressed up, and wore his boots.

He checked the edge of his short sword and sheathed it.

His teammates—Cynthia, Bloodshine, and the others—were still out there, and he wouldn’t let a nightmare make them lose the winter games.

Properly dressed and armed, Soren stepped over the carcass of the beast and headed for the door.

However, just as he was about to take a step outside, he felt danger and backed away.

—just in time too.

Boom.

A figure flew past him, smashing into the wall.

Soren peeped. It was another Nightmare creature.

It’s eyes had gone white into its sockets. It looked like it had been badly brutalised, lips subconsciously begging to be freed.

Soren looked at the source of this atrocity.

Sure enough, it was Cynthia.

Soren had a feeling that the capabilities of the Nightmare creature would be useless against cynthia.

He was right.

Nightmare creatures needed to connect with the central nervous system of their victims.

For this reason, they aimed for the orifices with their long invasive tongues.

This was why Soren had felt the goo from his ear.

However, Cynthia aways had her helmet on. It was fair to say that the Nightmare creature was just chicken waiting to be slaughtered.

Soren nodded at her, and she waved at him.

—Steam leaving her helmet.

Immediately, he rushed for the Nightmare creature.

—blade on hand, he tore into it, and then with slushy sounds—ripped out its core.

Two down.

He turned to her, "let’s find the others." As they moved, soren did not notice the world shake like water behind him.
