Chapter 218: Graded Evolution.

Chapter 218: Graded Evolution.

Alejandro frowned. "Boy... you don’t want to cross me for these mere peasants now, do you?

Hand over the glassheart."

However, polystar did not move. The atmosphere was obviously tense, but he just stayed. Gaze focused on Alejandro.

At the side he coukd see the way Black held sophia.

The blade inched even closer to her neck.

There was no doubt that if he refused, they would be blood.

However, a thoight came to his head. And he responded. "And if I say I won’t. What woukd you do about it?" He cracked a rocky smile?"

Soren turned to his side, wondering if this noble boy had suddenly gone retarded. Refusing to give up the Glassheart was one thing, but infuriating the enemy was another.

Why would he do that?

Surprisingly, Alejandro’s gaze faltered. Not much.

Just a bit.

But Polystar caught it. He looked at Sophia. "So its true, you do need her."

Alejandro was annoyed at this. "Of course I need her. Think you stupid ranch. A Healer on a land so corrupted. Of course we need..."

"No." Polystar interrupted him. "That’s not it. Thats not why you need her. Its something else."

GROOOWWWWLLL

Huge growl was heard. It cane underneath their feet, and it sent a formidable pressure outward that made soren feel like his chest was being pulled into the ground.

He even felt his soul energy disrupted.

Polystar turned to Soren, "i think Vass and Bloodshine found our evidence." Then he turned to Alejandro.

"You Disgust me." Polystar spat on the side. His gaze was a furious one.

However, soren noticed that the usually very prideful man did not retort. In fact, a drop of sweat fell down his brows.

"Polystar... I would really love for you to explain what’s going on."

Polystar frowned, "Even if I tell you, you won’t believe it."

"Try."

"He is selling the happiness of his people."

Soren turned to him brow raised.

But polystar really did not mind explaining.

Nobles are not only seen as the upper class in society, but also the managers.

They were in charge if the land and its people. Meaning that the prosperity of the land was also the duty of the nobles that governed it.

However, a lot of nobles, having forgotten this sacred duty have gone down the wrong path.

Instead of caring for the people, they sort ways to acquire more power.

While many nobles try their best at the difficult path to power, using souls, and sponsoring research for more techniques, or better Soul Mechas, some others unwilling to take tge hard route result to Eldritch souls.

Soren kissed hearing this. He remembered the vision of the past that he had seen of Aegon.

He remembered the ritual she performed, and the chaotically destructive power he had hidden.

From that vision, soren had discovered that Aegon’s mother was herself a noble woman. But her living conditions were as a result of some form of dispute between families.

Regardless, she had a technique that allowed her make the ritual she did. No doubt her family must also dabble in exploring power from Eldritch souls.

However, polystar was not done talking. And the more he spoke, the more he realized that things were more terrible than he assumed they were.

Polystar stated that while Eldritch souls fed on negative emotions, they could also grow in power.

That growth was known as a Graded Evolution.

Right now, they were a total of 9 discovered grades.

Grades determined the destructive capabilities of an Eldritch soul.

However, this destruction was not limited to just mankind. But rather to their own kind.

Grades 0 will usually stay away from grades 1, and Grades 1 would mostly stay away from Grades 2—and so on.

This essentially meant that while Eldritch creatures were very dangerous beings, the higher one was in grade, the lonelier they were.

This created a loophole many nobles sort to explore.

If they managed to capture an Eldritch creature of a certain grade, all the other grades below it would stay away from that general region.

Meaning that the common folk would be able to live in peace.

Soren turned to polystar, "is that not a good thing?" He raised a brow.

Polystar shook his head as he adjusted his glasses. "On paper, it is. But in reality, its much more complicated than that.

After all, one needed to have the resources capable of eternally restraining an Eldritch creature.

Tell me, Soren. Do you think this place has the capabilities to restrain an Eldritch?

The Baron is not poor. But definitely not hhe kind of rich that can utilise such technology."

Polystar pointed at their firearms. "Look at that. They are still using guns that use metallic bullets from the old world.

They don’t have the technological advancements."

Soren’s gaze narrowed. "If they are not rich, then how are they restraining the Eldritch creature?"

Subconsciously, his gaze looked down, at the slowly climbing vibrations.

Polystar adjusted his glasses, coming to a conclusion of his theory. "They are not. The Eldritch is free. However, there is another condition to make the Eldritch stay.

An old method. The same one that has worked with snakes, lions, a d tigers of the old world, or any wild creature.

The answer is simple. TO KEEP IT’S BELLY FULL."

Polystar further explained that an Eldritch soul that has fed will retire to digest.

Meaning that they need not restraining the Eldritch creature. All they had to do was ensure that its stomach was never empty.

Soren’s eyes widened. "They are feeding it... the People?"

Polystar nodded. "Yes they are. But not in the conventional sense. If they did that, the town would be empty in a month. Instead, they direct the flow of the negative energy in the town to the Eldritch creature.

However. This false peace comes at a price. Or is that not so?" Polystar asked Alejandro.

Alejandro was left speechless. He could not believe that Polystar had figured all that out in such a short amount of time.
