Chapter 825: Tender Moments
After that ordeal, by the time Lin Feng returned to Yingbo University, it was already the afternoon. He went straight to the French department, taught a class to the students, and then headed directly to Ding Wan’er’s office. Having come back from Capital City, he hadn’t properly spent time with Ding Wan’er, and now that he was about to leave again, he felt it would be inexcusable not to spend some quality time with her. With that in mind, Lin Feng decided he would definitely keep her company that evening.
"Lin Feng, why are you here? You’re leaving tomorrow; shouldn’t you be preparing?" Ding Wan’er, seeing Lin Feng appear in her office, immediately spoke up. Lin Feng had already informed her of his trip abroad that morning. At that time, she was too busy to chat, but then she thought, wasn’t it odd? Lin Feng was supposed to leave tomorrow and should be preparing; why had he come to her office again? As these questions filled her eyes with confusion, she wondered why Lin Feng had come back to find her.
"You’ve had a tough time these days. Tonight, it’ll be just the two of us, and I’ll keep you company and cheer you up," said Lin Feng, sharing his thoughts outright. He was now acutely aware of how difficult it was to take care of all the women around him. He could only do his best. Last time, accompanying Leng Mei back to Capital City had taken so many days, so it was only right for him to properly be with Ding Wan’er today.
"But... but there’s still so much work left to do here... Why don’t you go keep Lin Jie company?" Ding Wan’er, upon hearing Lin Feng’s words, instantly understood what he meant, but she really had a lot on her plate and expressed her slight reluctance. In fact, she did want to spend more time with Lin Feng, but as a university president, she was just overwhelmingly busy and struggled to find time.
However, it was at that moment she suddenly remembered Lin Jie. After the concert, Lin Feng hadn’t seemed to visit Lin Jie. Since she didn’t have time herself, why not let Lin Feng go and accompany Lin Jie? Wouldn’t that be the best of both worlds? With this thought, she expressed her idea without hesitation.
"You always think of others. No need to say more, today you’re with me," Lin Feng said, shaking his head upon hearing Ding Wan’er. He knew well what Ding Wan’er was thinking. Her suggestion was undoubtedly for him to spend more time with the other ladies, but Lin Feng couldn’t possibly do that. Ding Wan’er had already done so much, and if he still didn’t know what to do, he wouldn’t be Lin Feng.
Then, Lin Feng walked over to Ding Wan’er, took her hand, and headed outside the office. No matter what, he wanted Ding Wan’er to put everything aside today and be with him. That was what Lin Feng believed he should do.
Ding Wan’er was momentarily stunned by Lin Feng’s sudden pull, but she quickly understood his intent. Though Lin Feng was being assertive, Ding Wan’er liked this side of him. As they exited the office, she fully relaxed, no longer preoccupied with work. Looking into Lin Feng’s eyes, her own brimmed with tenderness, and her heart was filled with warmth. Lin Feng had proven through his actions just how important she was to him, which made Ding Wan’er exceedingly happy.
Hand in hand, the two walked through the school with many onlookers watching. They made their way to the parking lot, got into the car, and left the campus. Lin Feng checked the time and took the lead in planning the evening activities.
"Wan’er, how about we go to dinner tonight and then watch a movie? What do you think?" Lin Feng suggested as he drove, seeking Ding Wan’er’s opinion. He was open to considering other requests she might have, of course.
"That sounds good, let’s do that. But I feel like having Western cuisine tonight, how about you?" Ding Wan’er nodded in agreement to Lin Feng’s proposal. However, she had an idea in mind. Since they were going out alone, she wanted to spend a lovely evening with Lin Feng—a candlelit dinner seemed like a perfect choice, especially since they hadn’t experienced it together before.
"Of course, that’s fine. Are there any good Western restaurants in Tianhai?" When Lin Feng heard Ding Wan’er’s suggestion, he naturally wouldn’t object, as making her happy was his main aim for the evening. It didn’t matter where they would dine, but he wasn’t well-acquainted with Tianhai’s Western restaurants, so he asked for Ding Wan’er’s input.
"The Bordeaux Western Restaurant in the city center is good. The chefs there are all top-level from France, and the food tastes fantastic."
"Then let’s go there. Wan’er, do you really like eating Western food?"
"It’s alright. I used to eat it occasionally while studying abroad."
"Why didn’t you eat Chinese food?"
"You don’t know, but Chinese food abroad isn’t the same—it often tastes terrible."
"I see. What kinds of food do you like, Wan’er?"
"A lot! I like eating classic dishes; they indeed have a different flavor from Chinese cuisine. It’s nice to eat them once in a while."
"Then I’ll cook for you when we have time."
""
"You can cook Western cuisine too?"
"Yeah, it’s all the same, just that the ingredients for Western cuisine are harder to come by."
"Then I’m truly looking forward to it. I wonder what your salt-baked foie gras will taste like."
"It should taste better than what they serve in restaurants."
...
In the car, Lin Feng and Ding Wan’er were chatting casually, and time flew by without them noticing. Lin Feng also learned about Ding Wan’er’s favorite foods, contemplating whether he should bring back some special ingredients from abroad to treat Ding Wan’er. Similarly, Ding Wan’er was surprised to hear that Lin Feng could cook Western cuisine. Although she knew Lin Feng’s Chinese dishes were extremely delicious, Western and Chinese cuisines were two different systems, so she longed to taste the Western dishes Lin Feng could make.
Before they knew it, they arrived at Bordeaux Western Restaurant. The two entered and chose a private room. After ordering two set meals, they started eating happily while chatting about things around them. With Lin Feng’s intentional cooperation, Ding Wan’er was in a particularly good mood, her charming smiles and crisp laughter were frequently heard. It had been a long time since Ding Wan’er had felt this happy. At that moment, she felt an immense sense of happiness.
Time passed rapidly in such an atmosphere, and dinner was over before they realized it. Lin Feng and Ding Wan’er then headed to the movie theater and let Ding Wan’er choose a romance movie to watch.
Sitting in the movie theater, Ding Wan’er felt even warmer inside because she could already sense Lin Feng’s love for her. Under his caring gaze, she felt truly happy. Thinking of this, she leaned against Lin Feng during the movie to feel his heartbeat and to experience his deep love...
Of course, Ding Wan’er felt comfortable doing so because the movie theater was dark, which made her less apprehensive. But once in Lin Feng’s embrace, feeling his breath, her heart raced even more, finding his chest incredibly warm and hard to leave. At this moment, her cheeks blushed even more as she spontaneously thought about their upcoming wedding.
There wasn’t much time left until the wedding, and she wondered what it would be like. She had heard... she had just started to think about the first time... when her face turned even redder and she couldn’t continue her thoughts. Looking up at Lin Feng, she truly felt that having him in her life was wonderful!
...
After the movie, Lin Feng drove Ding Wan’er back to her place. After making sure she was okay, he drove home. That night, he didn’t spend the night in his own room but stayed with Shen Yao instead.
The next morning, after making breakfast for Shen Yao and Chu Meng, Lin Feng went back home to prepare breakfast for his parents. During the meal, he casually mentioned that he needed to go abroad for some work. Lin Yiwen and Zhang Lan just gave him their usual brief reminders without saying much else. They had already realized in Capital City how capable their son was and knew he wasn’t in any danger. They didn’t worry too much about his trips.
After breakfast, Zhang Lan and Lin Yiwen left for work, as they were both very busy catching up after their time away in Capital City. They weren’t particularly concerned about their son’s trip abroad, as they were used to him frequently traveling. They knew he was just leaving for work and would return.
Once his parents had left, Lin Feng went over to Chu Meng’s villa. Upon entering, he saw Chu Meng and Shen Yao chatting animatedly. He immediately joined in with a smile, hoping to kill some boring time.
"What are you two talking about?" Lin Feng casually found a spot to sit and asked the question, curious about what was exciting his sister and Shen Yao so much.
"Hehe, nothing much. Sister here was just saying she wants to go to Australia for some giant lobster," Shen Yao covered her mouth and answered as soon as Lin Feng spoke. She was surprised herself that Chu Meng wanted to eat Australian giant lobster, as it honestly didn’t taste that great, and she found it puzzling why her sister fancied it.
She had tasted plenty of delicious food and didn’t find Australian giant lobster particularly appealing. It was quite common, the meat quality was not that great, and it was a hassle to prepare. Yet for some reason, Chu Meng liked it, which mystified her.
"What’s so strange about that? I just like it. I used to have a small island in Australia, but it’s gone now," Chu Meng casually wiped her mouth with a napkin and said. However, thinking back on the past made her feel melancholic. Honestly, she missed that island, but since it was gone, it made her heart hurt.
If Cloud Fund hadn’t encountered problems, she wouldn’t be in her current situation, barely daring to go out. If it weren’t for her brother saving her from Africa, she might have died by now. Although she constantly thought of revenge, revenge was not something that could be accomplished overnight—it required time to plan and execute. But now, remembering her glorious past, Chu Meng’s heart filled with a bittersweet feeling and some indescribable emotions.
