Chapter 666: Let’s Have Dinner Together
Chapter 666: Let’s Have Dinner Together
"That place is too far away, and I have a class in the afternoon. There just isn’t enough time. Let’s go there next time when we’re free. Today, let’s just find a place nearby and grab something to eat," Lin Feng replied as soon as he heard Huang Shi mention the distant location. He had a French class in the afternoon and didn’t want to make a fuss, so it’s better to eat something close by and call it a day. They could always go later when they had more time. There was no need to rush just for a meal.
"Okay, then, Boss, we’ll go there next time. For lunch, let’s go to Zhuangyuan Tower. It’s close to the school, and nothing will be delayed," suggested Huang Shi, agreeing with Lin Feng. The place was indeed far, and the round trip would take hours. It wouldn’t be too late to visit when they had free time. Promptly, he recommended Zhuangyuan Tower for their lunch venue, which was close to the school and suitably upscale, providing a good setting for a chat.
"Yeah, alright," Lin Feng replied, knowing that if Huang Shi insisted on going out to eat, he must have something to discuss. So they might as well go out for lunch together.
"Great, I’ll book a table right now," Huang Shi said, delighted as Lin Feng agreed. He immediately turned to leave and picked up his phone to make the reservation.
Watching Huang Shi leave, Lin Feng picked up the newspaper from the table and began reading it to pass the time...
Before they realized it, lunchtime arrived. Lin Feng and Huang Shi made their way to Zhuangyuan Tower and sat down in a private room. They ordered a few dishes and no alcohol. Huang Shi knew the Boss never drank before class, so today was just about having a simple meal and a chat.
"Boss, when are you going to teach me how to race?" Huang Shi hadn’t forgotten about racing. To tell the truth, that was his only hobby. He had been following Lin Feng for several months and saw how busy the Boss was every day. He was anxious but couldn’t do anything about it.
"You, just inviting me to eat for this racecar business? Wait until I’m free. You see how busy I am; I really don’t have the time," Lin Feng said, feeling speechless when he heard Huang Shi had invited him to lunch just to talk about racing. He couldn’t do anything about their situation; without time, he couldn’t teach Huang Shi how to race. Besides, Lin Feng also felt racing was indeed quite dangerous. For himself, it wasn’t an issue, but for an ordinary person like Huang Shi, it was impossible to have such quick reflexes. Driving fast was bound to lead to accidents someday.
"Huang Shi, is that your only hobby?" Lin Feng asked, wondering if racing was his only interest. If that were the case, perhaps it’s better just to give it up. There were plenty of other things Huang Shi could do as a wealthy young master; he shouldn’t be playing with such dangerous things.
"Yes, Boss. Before I met you, my only hobby was racing. I stayed away from drinking, gambling, and all of that; my family opposed it, but since I hadn’t run into any trouble, they let me be," Huang Shi simply replied, recalling his past. He didn’t have any real hobbies except for cars. If it wasn’t for racing, he wouldn’t have met the Boss, much less admired the Boss’s driving skills and followed him to the school to be his underling.
"Huang Shi, I think you should give up racing if you can. It requires extremely strong nerve reactions, and I do think it’s far too dangerous for you. It’s fine for entertainment, but don’t get too deep into it, or it could become really dangerous," Lin Feng suggested after a moment’s thought. He still decided to try and persuade Huang Shi. Racing was dangerous, and he didn’t want anything bad to happen to him.
"But Boss, I really don’t know what else I could do besides racing. None of those things the other spoiled rich kids do interests me at all," Huang Shi said, aware of the dangers of racing but loving the thrill of danger it brought. He truly didn’t know what else he could do besides racing. As he expressed his doubt, his gaze rested on Lin Feng, wondering if the Boss might have a good suggestion for him.
"How about this, do you like practicing some self-defense?" After some thought, Lin Feng still felt it would be better if Huang Shi learned some self-defense. He vividly remembered how Huang Shi had been beaten up by Cui Jinhao in H Country. If Huang Shi had decent self-defense skills, he wouldn’t have suffered so much. Besides, as the Crown Prince of Huang Group, he should have the ability to protect himself. That would also eliminate many potential worries, killing several birds with one stone.
"Boss, I actually like that idea. I can barely be considered an A-level expert now," Huang Shi immediately understood what Lin Feng meant. The Boss wanted him to give up racing and put his energy into cultivation. Huang Shi was open to the idea since he had been exercising under his family’s guidance since he was young. But that all had been just for fun, which was why his skills were barely A-level. Such strength could handle ordinary people, but against real experts, it was just too risky!
His trip to H Country made Huang Shi all the more anxious. If his skills had been A-level or beyond, AA-level, he wouldn’t have been taught such a harsh lesson by Cui Jinhao. It seemed the Boss was right; cultivating his own strength was the best route. Moreover, if he became more skilled, he wouldn’t need the Boss to intervene all the time, which would make handling matters much more convenient in the future.
"A-level is far from enough. Although you’re barely an A-level expert now, you’re no different from before when facing true experts. How about this, when you’re free, go find Zhu Tao. Let him train you. Even though you’ve missed the prime cultivation period and won’t make any huge advances, breaking through to AA-level should still be quite feasible. With that, you’ll have self-protection capabilities. As long as you’re diligent in cultivation, even if you face off against AA-level experts again, you won’t end up as embarrassingly powerless as you are now," Lin Feng advised.
Lin Feng analyzed the current situation for Huang Shi. If Lin Feng could get through to Huang Shi’s way of thinking, things would be much easier. Compared to racing, cultivation was the right thing to focus on. It was true of anything; only when one’s strength increased could they earn the respect of others.
"Yeah, Boss is right, but I’m already twenty, and I really don’t want to just keep waiting," Huang Shi said after hearing Lin Feng, his heart inclining towards Lin Feng’s perspective. He knew everything Lin Feng said was true and correct, but his age was a factor—a little late to concentrate on cultivating. Although he longed to be as strong as the Boss, Huang Shi knew it was impossible. He didn’t have lofty expectations; being able to reach AA level would satisfy him completely.
"Well, Huang Shi, when you have time, go and find Old Zhu. That way, you can avoid taking many detours."
"Okay, Boss, it’s decided then."
"Mm, I’ll just speak to Old Zhu."
"Boss, do you think it’s too late for me to start cultivating now?"
"It’s still alright, not too late. When the chance comes, I’ll get you a piece of Ancient Exotic Jade to help you boost your cultivation power."
"What is Ancient Exotic Jade?"
...
Seeing Huang Shi agree to give up racing and successfully turn to cultivation filled Lin Feng with satisfaction. Huang Shi had been with him for so long, and Lin Feng hadn’t really taught him anything. Huang Shi was an excellent person, and now that he’d decided to cultivate, letting Old Zhu mentor him when free was the plan. After all, Old Zhu was an S-level expert who would undoubtedly save Huang Shi from many unnecessary detours. Just knowing Huang Shi had the basic ability to defend himself would make Lin Feng very happy.
Hearing from Lin Feng about switching to cultivation, Huang Shi also felt that the Boss was absolutely right. He hadn’t had guidance from a master before, only learning what he could from the family’s AA-level experts, and lacked motivation. But now things were different. Although the Boss was often busy, there was Zhu Tao. Zhu Tao was an S-level expert, and with his tutelage, Huang Shi was certain to make rapid progress. The result would be much better, and he didn’t want to experience another humiliating beatdown like the one in H Country. After all, he was the Boss’s underling and didn’t want to embarrass him.
What thrilled Huang Shi most was the Boss’s promise to find him a piece of Ancient Exotic Jade to help enhance his cultivation power. Huang Shi had always dreamed of becoming a master, and now this seemingly unattainable dream was close to reality, which excited him greatly.
Moreover, Huang Shi was overjoyed that the Boss had already agreed to take him out driving when time permitted, to give him some pointers on driving technique. Huang Shi was now even happier. He no longer had much interest in racing; he was only keen on how to drive, to learn Lin Feng’s incredibly magical driving skills and fulfill his previous wish. He believed that once this wish was fulfilled, he wouldn’t go back to racing anymore.
The two chatted while they ate, and time flew by quickly. After the meal, they returned to school and resumed their normal classes.
After the evening class, Lin Feng dealt with the students’ questions, glanced at the time, close to finishing work, and headed to pick up Ding Wan’er from work. Unexpectedly, upon opening the door, he found Leng Mei there as well and walked in with a smile.
"Lin Feng is here. Just in time for dinner. Let’s go out to eat together," Ding Wan’er said with a cheerful smile upon seeing Lin Feng. Leng Mei had come to her place in the afternoon to discuss work matters, and Ding Wan’er sensed that Leng Mei was almost back to her regular state when dealing with her, which made her very happy. Ding Wan’er was also curious about how Lin Feng had managed to convince Sister Leng, but such an outcome was what Ding Wan’er liked to see the most.
