Chapter 486: Lying in Ambush
Chapter 486: Lying in Ambush
The nine-person recon team immediately got into their vehicles, with Xia Yong sitting in Lin Feng’s car, while the other eight men split into two other vehicles.
Seeing everyone in place, Lin Feng pressed the accelerator and led the way out of the base. As they passed the main gate, likely because Shang Yi had given instructions earlier, Zhang Wenhua who had been waiting there all night quickly ordered the guards to open the gates. He stood by and watched as the three cars carrying Lin Feng and his team left, followed by an off-road jeep that was ready to retrieve the vehicles after Lin Feng’s team disembarked.
Once out of the base, Lin Feng drove straight towards the Golden Triangle, navigating the rugged mountain roads. The night before, Lin Feng had already familiarized himself with the traffic near the Golden Triangle and even used satellite imagery to get a clear picture of Ruan Tiansheng’s encampment. So, he had already planned a route and led the nine-man recon team directly to the edge of Ruan Tiansheng’s territory.
As they neared Ruan Tiansheng’s territory, Lin Feng stopped the vehicles, and everyone disembarked to proceed on foot.
After a morning of trekking through the mountain paths and eating some simple rations for lunch, by late afternoon nearly dusk, Lin Feng and his team directly arrived not far from Ruan Tiansheng’s encampment, even spotting the smoke from fires within the village from a distance.
However, the nine men found one thing very strange during the journey; Lin Feng hadn’t looked at a map once since leaving in the morning. Although everyone knew that Lin Feng was heading in the right direction, it was unexpected that he could find this place without ever having been here before. Seeing the flags at the entrance of the village bearing Ruan Tiansheng’s emblem, they wondered... how was this possible?
And when they passed the minefield, Lin Feng simply told them to follow in his footsteps as if casually strolling through, shocking his team even more. They had never heard of anyone performing such a miraculous feat—walking through a minefield without even looking at the ground and yet encountering no issues whatsoever. It was as if Lin Feng could see the mines buried beneath the soil.
Although they didn’t understand how Lin Feng could achieve such feats, there was one thing the team knew for certain: Lin Feng was leading them on this mission, and the outcome was what mattered most. If they could complete the mission and learn from Lin Feng, the purpose of this trip to the Golden Triangle would be fulfilled.
"The target of this mission is Ruan Tiansheng’s encampment ahead," Lin Feng motioned for the recon team to lie low and shared the objective of their venture into the Golden Triangle. "I came to the Golden Triangle to eliminate two people; one is Ruan Tiansheng and the other is Ruan Jun. Intelligence indicates that Ruan Tiansheng has three villages, scattered across three corners of his territory. All three villages are essentially identical, and it’s unknown in which village Ruan Tiansheng commands."
Ruan Tiansheng!
Father and son, the Ruans!
Lin Feng was actually targeting their lives!
The difficulty of such a task was exceptionally high!
...
As a recon team that often engaged in firefights with drug traffickers from the Golden Triangle, they were well aware of Ruan Tiansheng’s background. He led the most formidable gang of traffickers in the Golden Triangle, his men ruthless and militarily superior, surpassing even regular armies in capability!
Therefore, when the team heard the purpose of their operation from Lin Feng, they were all the more surprised, never expecting their target would be the Ruan father and son, unsure of what the pair had done to provoke Lin Feng into pursuing them to the Golden Triangle to take their lives. It appeared that this mission would be fraught with danger, prompting all team members to start contemplating their next moves...
"Instructor Lin, just tell us what to do," Xia Yong whispered to Lin Feng, as they had already approached one of Ruan Tiansheng’s villages. The specifics of their next action needed Lin Feng’s direction; they were there to support Lin Feng’s operations and naturally would follow his lead.
"Here’s what we’ll do next: set up positions here and no matter what happens, don’t be surprised. Stay put and cover me. If any noise alerts the people in the village, I will retreat through here. That way, with your support, we can leave this place quickly."
After thinking it over, Lin Feng decided against taking the nine men with him, considering it too risky. If they were to come along, the danger would be excessive, but if it were just him, he could move as he pleased, and the base personnel wouldn’t be able to do a thing against him. The best course of action was to have them wait and provide cover if needed, which would minimize their risk to the lowest possible level.
"Understood, Instructor Lin. We’ll establish the position right away, build barriers and wait for your return here," Xia Yong agreed with Lin Feng’s plan. The conditions within Ruan Tiansheng’s village were unknown, and with Lin Feng’s formidable skills, having them accompany him would likely be more of a hindrance. It was better to set up a defensive position outside and cover Lin Feng as he requested.
Following that, Xia Yong began directing his men to find the best positions, set up firing points, and get ready to support Lin Feng’s infiltration.
Lin Feng said nothing further, pulled a box of surgical blades from his backpack, and with a swift motion, dashed towards the village like a shadow, using the twilight of the setting sun, which cast a gentle glow but didn’t reveal his approach to the village slopes.
"My God!"
"This speed is too fast!"
"How come we never knew before that one could use the afterglow of the sunset..."
...
The members of the vanguard squad watched Lin Feng approach the village at an eerily fast speed, their eyes bulging in complete astonishment. They found Lin Feng’s speed to be unimaginable, like a gust of wind. What was more exaggerated was that, dressed in a camouflage uniform and making use of the afterglow of the sunset on the hillside, Lin Feng seemed to disappear while sprinting at an incredible pace!
Everyone’s brains froze at once, Lin Feng’s speed far surpassed theirs, and in the blink of an eye, he had stealthily made his way to hide in the dense grass at the edge of the village.
How... how did he achieve such a terrifying speed? It was indescribable. The ambush point was a good five to six hundred meters from the edge of the village, and Lin Feng had reached the outskirts in just a few seconds. How... how could a human move so quickly!
Everyone stared at Lin Feng with expressions as if they had seen a ghost, at a loss for words to describe the shock they felt inside. They knew Lin Feng was formidable, but they hadn’t imagined his speed would be so terrifyingly beyond the ordinary person’s comprehension!
However, before everyone could react to anything else, Lin Feng suddenly moved. With a pinch of his fingers, he silently took out several dogs in the distance with three surgical blade pieces. If one wasn’t looking closely, it would appear as though the dogs were simply asleep.
After doing all this, Lin Feng left the bushes and approached the nearest dwelling, gradually closing in on the largest house in the village. The reason he did this was to demonstrate a classic example of infiltration to the members of the vanguard squad, but most importantly, Lin Feng didn’t want to reveal anything too extraordinary, as there would be no benefit in doing so.
Everything went smoothly. After stealthily assassinating a few people, Lin Feng’s figure flickered, and he directly darted into the largest house...
The whole process was clearly observed by the vanguard squad outside. They were deeply impressed by Lin Feng’s sequence of infiltration moves, which were even more precise than what’s taught in textbooks. They were also reminiscing Lin Feng’s actions—efficient and decisive, with no trace of hesitation. He had entered the largest house very smoothly, and everyone couldn’t help but imagine how much smoother their missions would go if they could learn Lin Feng’s techniques...
But ever since Lin Feng had entered the village, he had felt that something was very wrong, although he couldn’t pinpoint exactly what it was. As soon as he made a quick round inside the large house and found no one, Lin Feng knew he had been trapped! Moreover, he felt an unusually strong sense of danger. Without the time to think further, Lin Feng instantly activated the Exclusive Supreme Soaring Decree, enveloped in golden light, and dashed out at his fastest speed. The quickness of his escape defied description, and he vanished from the spot in an instant!
"Whoosh!"
The dust kicked up from the ground was the only evidence that Lin Feng had run past, and just as he burst out of the large house, it exploded!
"Boom!"
The thunderous explosion sent the entire large house into countless fragments, shattering the windows and doors of nearby buildings and embedding some pieces into the walls!
Xia Yong and the others outside, who had been admiring Lin Feng’s skills and thinking about how to get him to teach them, couldn’t have dreamed of such an accident happening. Suddenly, everyone was staring dumbfounded at the debris in front of them. The large house that Lin Feng had just entered had been completely blown away! What about Lin Feng...
Lin Feng!
Instructor Lin!
No, it can’t be!
...
In that moment, everyone’s hearts were in their throats, worried for Lin Feng, unwilling to believe what was unfolding before their eyes. With Lin Feng’s remarkable abilities, how could he possibly be caught in an accident like this? No! It’s impossible! They had just seen Lin Feng lead them on the path to becoming stronger, and that dream had not yet come true. Lin Feng couldn’t possibly be in trouble, no!
