Chapter 406 Everyone, Let’s Disperse
Chapter 406 Everyone, Let’s Disperse
"I really want Duoduo to become Lin Feng’s woman too. Only Lin Feng can handle Duoduo, and most importantly, I would feel at ease with Duoduo being with Lin Feng even if I closed my eyes forever. With Wan’er as the principal wife there, she would never let Duoduo suffer. Besides, you and I both know what kind of man Lin Feng is; a person like him is destined to be the focus of all women. So why not let our own granddaughter take a favorable position?"
Qian Rong dropped his usual joking demeanor, seriously sharing his thoughts with Ding Yi, not worried at all that Ding Yi would have any other ideas, because he knew what kind of man Ding Yi was. If Ding Yi had any objections, he would have jumped up to oppose long ago.
"You, calculating even this for Duoduo’s sake, truly have her interests at heart," Ding Yi said with a smile, shaking his head. Then he poured two cups of tea, signaling Qian Rong to drink. In the eyes of outsiders, Qian Rong was a rough and brash man, but how could a brash man turn the Great South Gang into such a large empire? That was simply impossible.
"Enough about me, old scholar. Haven’t you noticed that Old Soldier’s granddaughter, Leng Mei, also has more than a little interest in Lin Feng? I say we should try to arrange something, let our three granddaughters marry Lin Feng together. That way, we can rest easy, knowing they would never be at a disadvantage together. What do you think of this idea?"
Qian Rong suddenly remembered the way Leng Mei looked at Lin Feng, then spontaneously shared his thought. After all, Lin Feng was already destined to have more than one woman, so why not find him some who could be trusted? Moreover, Wan’er, Duoduo, and Leng Mei together would be a truly perfect combination, especially important if all three are as close as sisters, without conflicts, or at least they would present a united front when they did.
"What rotten idea are you coming up with? Lin Feng is my granddaughter’s husband-to-be. Why should I share with you? Don’t even think about it!"
"I’m not trying to take Wan’er’s place in the Eastern Palace."
"Even so, it won’t work! Lin Feng is my granddaughter’s husband-to-be,"
"Why not, it won’t treat Wan’er unfairly."
"..."
...
The two old men were arguing here. Qian Rong was scheming ways to make Qian Duoduo accept such a reality, running over to Tianhai to pursue Lin Feng. Meanwhile, Ding Yi opposed Qian Rong’s use of other means to bring Duoduo and Lin Feng together. Time slipped by without them noticing...
...
Ding Wan’er was very obedient to Lin Feng’s words; she didn’t go anywhere the whole evening, returning to the bedroom in her office without going out again. Everything was available here, and spending the night here wasn’t a problem at all. Over the past six months, Ding Wan’er had come to understand Lin Feng very well; every word he said had a reason behind it. She may not have known why, but following his words was never wrong.
After a simple wash, Ding Wan’er lay in bed alone, reflecting on the night’s events, feeling that the world was indeed full of wonders. She had planned to confess to Lin Feng tonight, but unexpectedly her parents had arranged a marriage for her without notice. Even more surprising was that they had wanted her to share a cake with Li Zerui that evening, prompting her grandfather to reveal her betrothal.
Though the events were somewhat dramatic, the outcome was the same. The relationship with Lin Feng had been successfully made public, and what remained was planning for the future.
However, Ding Wan’er was immediately uncomfortable with the relationship being public, unsure how to face Lin Feng at school. After all, many of the guests from the evening were from Yingbo, and the night’s events would surely sweep through the entire campus and even the whole of Tianhai the next day. By then, everyone would know she was Lin Feng’s fiancée.
The transition from principal to fiancée left Ding Wan’er at a loss; the change was indeed too great. The thought of how to face her teachers and classmates tomorrow gave her a headache, especially since Lin Feng was a teacher at her school, making the situation particularly awkward.
So what should she do? No matter how much Ding Wan’er thought, she couldn’t come up with a good solution, just clutching her favorite teddy bear, brainstorming ideas.
What was this for? Was there something that needed resolving? She was Lin Feng’s fiancée; nothing she did could be considered excessive. Why should she care about what others thought?
Coming to this realization, Ding Wan’er’s mind cleared up, as if all the pieces clicked into place. She had been stuck in a rut, seeing herself only as a principal, neglecting her other, most important identity—Lin Feng’s fiancée!
With that identity, whatever she did was right, whatever she thought was justified! Once she had this clarity, all the issues that had once troubled Ding Wan’er evaporated instantly.
Ding Wan’er was now incredibly relaxed. She got out of bed, walked over to the window, and pulled back the curtains to look out at Yingbo University, feeling an indescribable comfort in her heart. From now on, she wouldn’t be the only one struggling to persevere, for she would have Lin Feng by her side to support her!
But just then, Ding Wan’er suddenly remembered Sister Leng, recalling her lonely and desolate expression as she left. Ding Wan’er instantly became worried. Over time, it had become very clear to her that Sister Leng was also very fond of Lin Feng. With tonight’s announcement of her engagement to Lin Feng, Sister Leng must have been deeply hurt. Given the circumstances, she felt obligated to have a talk with Sister Leng no matter what.
With that thought in mind, Ding Wan’er picked up her phone and dialed Leng Mei’s number, but no one answered on the other end. She tried many times, but still no response, until eventually the phone indicated that the other party had powered off.
At this moment, Ding Wan’er was truly worried about Leng Mei, fearing something bad might have happened to her. Yet, as it was already late, she decided she must speak to Leng Mei tomorrow, no matter what. But how should she approach the conversation with Leng Mei? Ding Wan’er felt very conflicted. Before she realized it, she had become frozen in thought by the window.
...
Meanwhile, Leng Mei drove to the seaside in Tianhai City, found a spot facing the ocean, opened the trunk of her car, and began drinking beer as she stared out at the sea, crying as she did so because her heart was just too bitter.
Leng Mei thought back and realized why Ding Wan’er had been so indifferent to Lin Feng before, and why she had been so conflicted about him. It was obvious that Ding Wan’er liked Lin Feng, but didn’t want to get too close, while she, naïve as she was, thought that Wan’er, like herself, had not confessed her feelings to Lin Feng. She now understood that Wan’er had already known Lin Feng was her fiancé, which meant she could afford to wait and decide after seeing all of Lin Feng’s good qualities.
Leng Mei felt so foolish, so very foolish...
Yet she couldn’t control her affection for Lin Feng; in Leng Mei’s life, only Lin Feng could touch her heart. So, what was she supposed to do now? Leng Mei was in tears, wiping them away while drinking her beer, her mind completely lost in confusion.
Shen Yao had appeared and confessed her feelings to Lin Feng. Shen Yao was so beautiful and willing to do anything for Lin Feng, so he accepted her.
The pure girl confessed to Lin Feng as well, and also received his tacit consent. It was obvious that her love for Lin Feng wasn’t a recent development, and she was younger and more vibrant, so Lin Feng accepted her too.
Today, Wan’er’s engagement to Lin Feng had been revealed. Although Wan’er hadn’t done anything in particular, the prolonged contact had made Lin Feng realize that Ding Wan’er was a very good woman, so he readily accepted the engagement without objection.
So what merits did she, Leng Mei, have to be accepted by Lin Feng? The more she thought about it, the more depressed she became, the more headaches she suffered, until she could bear it no longer and had to drink heavily to temporarily forget all her troubles.
...
Lin Feng spent the entire night alone on a little mound in the valley, blending in with the surroundings. Although the environment in the valley had been destroyed, at night, the animals returned, approaching Lin Feng without any sense of caution, but rather, they gathered warmly around him, drawn by the green and golden glow emanating from his body, which they found incredibly comforting.
At dawn, when the first ray of sunlight broke through the morning’s gloom, Lin Feng opened his eyes. The gains from this night were immensely considerable; he had sensed the essence of the flora around him, successfully advancing to the next realm. The feeling was truly miraculous, as if his body had inexhaustible strength, and he had become one with his surroundings.
Noticing the variety of animals that had gathered around him, Lin Feng felt an intimate connection with them. Spreading his hands, a small bird whose name he didn’t know landed in his hand, gently nudging his fingers, expressing its affection for him.
It must have been the peaceful, non-contentious aura he had comprehended which erased his usual formidable aggression, for normally, animals tended to keep their distance.
Well, dawn had broken; it was time to return home.
"You all should disperse, I should be going too," Lin Feng said softly as he stood up. While being warmly surrounded by a group of animals was quite comfortable, it was time for him to go home. There were many things he had to do.
What surprised Lin Feng even more was that the animals actually dispersed upon hearing his words, leaving him somewhat at a loss. How could the animals understand what he said...
